Yes and No. He is a special talent but this is obviously a major problem. Plus our stable of rb's is pretty full right now, and I don't think any of them are SR's with I believe only Byrd as even being a JR.

I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to transfers at the skill positions. Running backs are a dime a dozen.

Now, an AQ transfer that plays in the trenches...much more intriguing to me.

H-towngreen....I too and YES and NO on Sims. Yes in that he was one of the most sought after RB's in Texas in a pretty tough district. I actually visited with him briefly when he and Connor were on a visit at the same time. Very polite and mannerly kid...very humble too. Then I say NO to what I always say about a transfer...they are transfering and leaving a team for a reason....character, grades or not making the depth chart. With the kind of "tough love" from DMAC, this kid could be an immediate impact at UNT...BIG IMPACT.

Another possibility that intrigues me is an ex team mate of Connors that came out of spring drills at TCU as starting LB...Deryk Gildon. He failed an alg or calc class. THIS KID IS A STUD!!! Current plans are to attend TCC and then go back to TCU...but who knows how that will all work out.

If the issue is not character or grades then I hope that we offer him. There are even exceptions to those. If the player is not a hothead or dopehead I'd like to see him get another chance. Sometimes poor grades are the result of lack of motivation or simply not wanting to be there. Ditto for effort in moving up the depth chart. Each case stands on its own merit but a real stud, as Sims was in high school, should have little trouble on all but the elite teams if he wants it bad enough.

Pretty impressive numbers. Depending on the circumstances of the "alleged crime," he's certainly worthy of a hard look. I like the powerlifter/sprinter combination. Having a brother in the area could help our chances. Interesting that he would be a 22 year old Soph. when he would become eligible in Sept. '13.

I certainly like the name. If he's a genetic combo of Hershel Walker and Billy Sims then bring him on down!
