An Open Letter To Todd Dodge

Western Kentucky is in the second year of the two year d1aa/fcs D1/FBS transition.

Stats and stories from before 1992 (the birth of modern college football with the advent of the 12 team SEC) don't matter.

OK, so it's fine to exclude an fact or statistic you personally don't like by re-drawing where "football begins?"

According to the NCAA, playing games against Western Kentucky count exactly the same as any other FBS team be it Alabama or Washington.

Well, a certain poster doesn't acknowledge any college football that occurred pre-Darrell Dickey, post-Darrell Dickey, or wasn't coached by someone named Darrell Dickey.

Yet, he insists for some reason to harp on "the irrelevance of easy wins over d1aa/fcs D1/FBS transitional teams."

Someone may inform him that his hero was 0 and 4 against these easy d1aa/fcs D1/FBS transitional teams; with disappointing losses to Troy, FAU, and to USF twice.

So, in the actual version of modern football history, there really are alternatives worse than winning against these d1aa/fcs D1/FBS transitional teams.

Stop making sense. It's clouding their brains!

In a way, it is harder to beat the transitional teams because while they have 2 years where they are not bowl eligible... they are playing transfer players that didn't have to sit out a year. They have all the benefits of a IAA for that first year and all the benefits sans a bowl game for their 2nd year of transition. The WKY coach was asked to describe the differences and he said - well, we have more ships, our pay went up, and then went on to talk about all his transfer players that were the backbone of his team. They stocked up that last year of IAA and those players got to play last year. Dodge has beat them not once but twice now. I take this win as a huge win. Look at their games this year, look at the scores. They have played some very good teams and played them very close. WKY is a good ball club and this was a SOLID win.

Yeah, when I heard that I immediately thought of their QB, a transfer senior from Notre Dame getting beat by a true sophomore.

Yes, Saturday was very encouraging. I don't care who we beat, whether it was western kentucky or western bungholio, it was a win. And it came down to a final play, a defensive stop. What a great way to win your first game.

While Smitty, Shaft, and Jay Dub always try to get on here and bring us down with their negative attitudes, I'm not going to let that happen this week. Go Mean Green!

3-18. Two of those wins are against Western Kentucky, as d1aa/D1 transitional team.

WKU a team we were projected to beat both seasons. Last year we beat them by 1. This year we beat them with a 4th quarter rally, after giving up 500+ yards.

What exactly are we celebrating???

A loss this past weekend would have only fueled the cries for Dodge to be removed at the end of the season.

This win is probably enough to let Dodge see year, three. But this win was nothing special.

it is special only because of the losing streak. same as ksu win against us. 90 of 120 team's fans would complain about this skimpy win. beat someone in the top 100 then we can talk about the next coming of hayden fry.

To me, the most encouraging thing tonight is the mental toughness the team showed in the second half. Seeing a 17-point lead evaporate in the third quarter had to be demoralizing considering the everything that has happened this year. To rally in the fourth quarter says a lot for the team. Congratulations, guys.

Now I remember you. You were the one who wanted to skin Vito for the way he wrote the drug story.

This.

If we lost this game, Dodge should have been fired on the spot. In case you missed the memo, our team still sucks. No need to start fellating the ol' ball coach just yet.

I'm happy to hear that the team looked like they had a fire and passion...where the hell has it been all season?

Totally agree
