Fun game tonight in Denton

Emmit, MedPilot and crew had the grill going when the F5 and I pulled up this evening to get things going. Good burgers E. And an even better game against the Cajuns. It looks to me that Michael Southall isn't full speed from his layoff last year but my friend George reminded me he would take a loafer with 10 blocks and 19 points anyday. True.

Overall good game. 1-0 in conference. This team showed some maturity towards the end to hold on. They still have a ways to go but now they are on a decent run. You never know but this team could respond in such a positive way to do something really great? We'll see.

It was also a pleasure to get to visit with one of our past hardwood warriors Wendell Williams. He came here from New Iberia LA in 1996 and never left after helping Deion Hunter and Tony Worrel take us to our only trip to the big dance back in '88. He's coaching at Denton High and also helps Hunter teach during his basketball camps.

Good trip north tonight.

Nice pic Rick.  Rather than show your own schools hand sign you bastardize a hand sign from an opponent we don't even play.  True class.

I saw people (NT alumni?) in the pit wearing burnt orange doing the eagle claw when the alma mater was playing at the end of the game, so I don't really see your point.

exactly. what an embarassment. Of course, with the mind-numbing banter going on in the football forum, I can only assume this was an intentional attempt to rile people up. Cute. Im sure they were all giggling as they posed. "this is going to be sooooo funny tomorrow"

On a positive note, I am glad you guys went out and tailgated before the game, and I am excited to see the men keep winning games. Hoping for a really good run this year, and perhaps a tourney bid!

I find humor in the fact that we hate all that wear burnt orange on our campus and to our athletic events, and we ridicule A&M with being so concerned with UT that they even have a reference in their fight song, yet our own fans give the downward hook em' sign and TAILGATE WITH A TENT THE SAME COLOR AS OUR OPPONENT. ph34r.gif

First of all, lets not lose sight of what is classless and what isn't. The horns sign upside down should not be thrown into that category. Is that fact that there was a red tent the best tool for your argument you could find? You correlate all this to people complaining about orange being on campus????? Sorry, you may have an argument, but some pretty weak points you use to defend it.

Lets not ruin the basketball board as well with this crap. Keep that over on the football board.

At least we managed to change all the Whorn-Orange seats out of the SuperPit before this Longhorn-Lovefest erupted.    tongue.gif

I couldn't agree more. Trilli did two good things. Changed those seats, and recruited good players. Now filling those seats with fans, and actually coaching those players is a different story.

This might be nit picking but is the shade of green on the basketball court a little too bright? I seem to recall someone saying it was expensive to change that.

GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything on the basketball court is new this year. If you will notice, we redid the typeface and updated the color. The color green is exactly the PMS color that our little friends in marketing/communications dictated. One reason for the new 'brightness' might be the effect the lights have on it. As you know, the lights can play tricks on colors.

Sorry you think my points are weak, but I would be pretty confident in stating that if someone threw up a burnt orange tent to tailgate when we were playing UT, emmitt would throw a fit and call them all boot-lickers.

My stance:

I don't agree with anyone wearing another schools colors/apparral on our campus, to our sporting events, etc...

I don't like people that attend North Texas and jump on the UT, or any other school for that matter, bandwagon when they are successful

I do find it silly that we have dedicated numerous posts to UT's winning the National Championship.

I don't especially care for UT, but I don't want USC beating them. UT was just the lesser of two evils.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm just nit picking. I would prefer a darker tint, but that's just my personal preference. The color of the uni's doesn't seem to match the color on the floor.

This is Bull Sh#*. I would have applauded emmitt pulling his service revolver and escorting them out of the building.

Who cares about the color of the tent. Be thankful that those five supporters were at the game cheering for the Mean Green.  From the looks of the video stream, not many fans are into NT basketball yet. wink.gif

Great point. Let's get folks in the building, then worry about their fashion sense and color coordination later.

Don't criticize the color of his tent, that is ridiculous. I'm sure whenever he bought it, he only bought red because he couldn't find a green one. No matter what color he picks, we will probably end up playing SOMEONE with that color eventually. It's not like he brought out his special red tent just because we were playing them.

I don't care if he has a pink tint, but I found it amusing and ironic that the person that is so critical of people supporting UT or wearing UT clothing had a tent that matched our opponents colors. Sorry to rile everyone up. I guess AD emmitt is untouchable.

Awwwww, does the upside down horn sign upset you that much? LOL!!!!!!!!!! That's FUNNY, don't care who you are. I only wished I was the guy up in Norman who came up with the hats several years ago. He probably retired off of it. At least we know what side of the fence those in the photo sit on and we know tU didn't go out and buy a national championship for them. How's the song go, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything"?

Next, I don't think the red tent belonged to E but someone else who was a big enough Mean Green fan to donate it for the cause.

Finally, thanks again to those who bleed green and stand for what you believe in... the only team that matters, The Mean Green!

Are you talking about the upside down horns? They had to pay UT for the licensing of that product. Thus increasing their athletic budget. Which in turn gives them better facilities, which allows them to recruit better athletes, which in turn puts them in a position to win national titles. Real smart.

Rick, the upside down horn doesn't bother me that much. I find it funny that you whine like a baby and spend so much time and energy being a player hater when that time is better served promoting your own school (which you do a lot of and I'm glad for it). The point I was trying to make was, you were tailgating at an NT basketball game, where we played someone other than UT, but you have so much hate in your heart for a school that isn't even a true rival of ours, that you, Emmit and the like have to be disrespectful. You keep saying that Texas bought this national title. Did you say the same when OU won? Or LSU? Or even USC? I bet not.

Hey man, I can't stand OU, but I give them proper respect when they win. As a matter of fact I really like their basketball coach Kelvin Sampson. I don't root for them, but I respect what he's done with their team and HUGE athletic budget.

What's it like to hate that much, Rick?

Naw, Eagle D, they've just scratched the surface on hatred. Just think what might have been had SMU won the national title instead of UT.

I'll just stay content loving everyone except the day that we play them.

Ok, lest I be labeled a hypocrity by UNTLifer and the like (and I can't tell you how tough life has been with the sleep I have lost) let me explain. When I went to buy an EZ-Up tent I looked high and low, even having them look in the back storage room, for a green tent. They didn't have any except for one that is better suited for a family reunion picnic (And I will be buying that one come next football season). Furthermore, the tent is red. It doesn't say "Red Raiders" or "Ragin Cajuns", it's just red. I could have bought a blue one but then I guess I'd come under fire when MTSU comes to town, huh?

Just as an aside, where were you UNTLifer. Rather than bitch and moan about a tent that I brought to a game to tailgate why don't you come on out and have a burger with us then walk your happy ass into the pit? Hell, for all the attention you pay little ol' me the least I could do is feed you. I swear if people on this board spent half as much energy attending games as they do worrying about what I do we'd actually have a true home court or home field advantage. I gotta admit though, it's flattering to think that all I have to do is buy a red tent or turn the devil sign upside down to make your thongs a little too tight.

And what exactly does a red tent have to do with me hating students who wear other schools' APPAREL on campus? I don't have a problem with people who wear maroon, red, orange, or green and gold...as long as their shirts don't say aTm, Tech, Texas, or Baylor. I gotta agree with Zeke, some of what passes for a counterpoint on this board is ridiculous.

I must also apologize for Emmitt's tent. When I was back in town in October Zeke, Emmitt, Erin and I used it. Somehow the blame for breaking it fell on me(though I think we were equally guilty). That tent wasn't red.

So throw all blame this direction. wink.gif

Were you drunk when you wrote this? Instead of a knee jerk reaction to this as you would have to me, I'll simply ask you what gives you any idea to think that the leading cash cow for CLC like tU would give an outside, private manufacturer who is NON CLC licensed, permission to pirate and sell a derogatory product with their protected logo on it out of the back of his car?

Explain yourself and then I'll answer to the rest of your meaningless questions.
