I was confused too by the article. It feels like he should have 3 to play 2? IDK, it was tough to figure out for me.

If he enrolled full-time when he was at Arkansas State fall 2014 then he would only have 2 to play 2. Even if he didn't play in 2014 and 2015, he only gets to count one as a redshirt season if he enrolled in 12 hours fall 2014, starting his eligibility counter.

Maybe he ended up not enrolling because of no eligibility? http://www.howlyes.com/austin-mcgehee-2014-status-update/

The post was from before the fall semester begins so it is possible I guess.

Edit:

Well scratch that, the Hogs had him listed as a RS Frosh before Fullerton so I'm thinking @BillySee58 is right on the 2 for 2.

247 lists him as a 2 star .74 recruit. He is ranked as the 3rd best P per 247 though so I'm more than happy to have this kid here.

Watch their film. While stars are a good place to start, you'll be able to start distinguishing whether or not you like a player for yourself. I like to watch the film of the best kids in each class at the position, top two or three, and then compare to what I think the kids we're bringing offer.

Until McGeHee's status becomes clear, I guess we will have to settle for Jacob Brammer and his 38.0 yds/punt average in HS.

I thought he might have punted once on a trick play... but, no... he was their punter:
