You are not the only one confused! I read on Facebook that while we already celebrated our 100 years of football, the coming season will be our 100th as there was no football during several years World War II.

​I thought at least one person on here mentioned this during the anniversary a couple of years ago.  Didn't we already predict that this would happen?

I'm the one who mentioned that, because of the WWII hiatus (43-45), we have not played 100 continual years of football.  But the hiatus was for three years and so I don't see how 2015 could be the 100th year. I believe my rudimentary understanding of math tells me that 2016 should be our 100th actual year.

Upon further review, it seems that this year is our 100th season. I never payed attention to 1913 because there was only one game.....TCU. I always counted 1914 as our first season.

We already have a nickname different from our mascot. I don't think counting actual seasons and the anniversary of the start is different.

We started in 1913. If you include that season, 2012 would've been the 100th season with 2013 being the 100-year anniversary. 3-year hiatus means 3 years later until our 100th season, which is now (2015).
