  1. Jason Edwards scored 31. The rest of the team COMBINED scored 24. Kinda hard to blame a guy for not being a “closer” when he’s the one doing enough to make having a “closer” relevant

  4. Actual court mops have been ordered btw. Really annoying it took a player getting injured to do so.

  5. The injuries are really hurting us. I think we win 2 of the games in this 4 of 5 stretch with a full roster.

  6. We got to 52 points with 5:36 left in the game. Only scored 3 more the rest of the way. Poor free throw shooting was to blame but also, as great as Edwards was today, USF defended him very well in the second half, especially in the paint. Nobody else stepped up to provide offense.

  7. I agree with @MeanGreen13 on this one. We have several young LBers on the team. I am optimistic they will get the best 3 on the field and be improved from last year. The defensive line scares the 💩out of me at the moment. I thought the needed to go out and add 2-3 285-310 Lb juco dl prior to Moore leaving. Now they are extremely low on numbers and size. We aimed for the stars right out of the gates. Going after 2 juco guys that went P5… then didn’t go after anymore. I felt like there was a handful of guys we could have got that would have been better than nothing. That is my biggest complaint at the moment. @Sanoe Valente and I are podcasting tonight and I will go into more details.

  11. Yeah, I wouldn't mind owning the NIT. Making it our tournament. With as much going on with the separation of the conferences in football, it's going to happen too with basketball. It would be nice to think of the NIT as the national championship for G5.

  12. After thinking about the LB room more, there are a few things to be optimistic about. Jordan Brown is a solid LB. Ethan Wesloski played a lot last year. He showed improvement throughout the year and was the third leading tackler. JJ Jean Louis has the frame to play right away. He had a lot of decent offers out of HS. I hope he steps up and plays right away. We will need the 2 Juco transfers Chavez Brown and CJ Garnett to be solid contributors this year. They primarily played special teams last year. We also need young guys like Matthew Moore and Dietrich Moore to be in the fold as well. They both had impressive high school film. Matthew was a stud at his HS. Hopefully his redshirt year helped him get stronger. Dietrich was getting a lot of attention his JR year before he was hurt. I'm still worried about the DL room. They better hope a FCS or FBS bounceback commits this spring.

  13. I have never seen a UNT team so afraid to shoot. It's as if no one wants the ball. Stone comes particularly to my mind, but I also saw some others give up looks when they were wide open.

  14. When a defense ranks near the bottom of the entire FBS, major changes needed to be made, both in players and coaches. It was a disaster from game one to the end of season. Not making a DC change or adding 3x the amount of defensive players just says history will repeat itself again...

  15. Well, turn about is fair play. Don't throw stones, etc. We are now in the same boat. The difference is, I don't think they have issues because of injuries....

  16. The disparity and the efforts made to recruit offensive linemen compared to defensive linemen is borderline scary. I know I keep beating the proverbial dead horse, but this shows where Morris's priorities lay, and they're not even close. I will push for Morris and hope he does well, but if, in the end, he does not survive as our head coach, there are not going to be a lot of questions about why this happened. One of Leach's bad traits that I wish Morris had not picked up was his lack of emphasis on defense or the belief that his offense would consistently score enough. Also, as I've said before, it's getting harder for me to dump on Caponi when it looks like he is not given the support he needs to recruit players.

  17. Edwards has been PHENOMENAL. Not many teams are winning games in the American missing their 2nd and 3rd best offensive players. Especially with a roster as defensive-minded as ours. There was NOBODY else on the court for us last night that can create their own shot. Nobody. And yet Edwards kept us in the game. Buggs can hit open 3’s. So can Scott, who can also hit a runner when he isn’t being guarded. Once or twice a game, Allen can back his man down and get a bucket. Walker might be good for a putback or two. But only Edwards, Rubin and CJ can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. If you are missing two of those guys, it is not going to be good in the American. This season is still a fun ride. We can make noise in the conference tournament. And considering the staff/player turnover & injuries, a deep NIT or CBI run is still a successful season.

  18. So it took losing a starter who slipped on a sweaty floor before we upgraded from towels to mops? It was bound to happen eventually, I guess. Injuries happen, I get it, but this? Who knows, maybe mops would not have made a difference in this case, but come on. Anyhow, a nice bounce back on the attendance front with 4,316. FTs hurt, but neither team lit it up from the charity stripe. Our team lives outside the arc and 1-9 (11.11%) in the second half is what did us in. We still have 4 more home games (1 more regular season home game than the previous seasons) to get our Super Pit mo-jo back and finish strong.

  20. Thanks. Well, we have a plethora of safeties as well. Of course a PWO is pretty risk free. I noticed TX St. picked up a transfer DL out of MI St. that I don't think we ever offered. We really needed that transfer out of Rice. Hopefully, someone, or a few someones, will show up soon.

  21. I hope we return as many as we can and replace the ones who leave accordingly. Ideally Jones gets his “covid year” and returns to have one finally year with Scott. We replaced Allen with another transfer post who has a year left. Then look at Dixon, Morgan, and Moore and you if they can’t contribute upgrade them.

  22. no reason to panic about anything really, i think we've seen some great performances while shorthanded, against really good teams. it is what it is, i think this team is built to really compete next year

  25. Someone has to step up and help out offensively. Edwards can't do it all himself. Buggs only took three shots, and Allen took four. In a shorthanded game like this, those guys need more attempts.

  36. Starting to come to terms that we won't be seeing any postseason basketball if we're missing any combo of two starters for more significant time. Top four seed for a double bye in the tourney is going to be tough to acquire. Love Jason, but it appears he doesn't have the closer gene that we desperately need from someone on this team. The past two games have really made me miss TP. And I don't get how we shoot shitty from the FT line in our gym. It should be the team unfamiliar with the environment that should struggle.

  37. I will settle for the NIT but they changed the selection process so conference champs no longer get in. I wish they would expand to 64 and keep the old selection process and simply add the perilous champ gets an invite if they do not make the big dance.

  45. While I agree that they don't look good, they still have enough time to turn it around. And the talent to do it. But as the announcers mentioned, an automatic bid is in question for them given the recent bad losses that they've had.

  46. This is the problem the Portal and NIL has created. Constant roster makeover. Players leave if they are not starters instead of working their way up the depth chart. It's the want-it-now society.

  47. I will always believe that without the base of quality players Todd Dodge built we do not win that 2013-14 HOD bowl. I also think he had a hand in getting DATCU stadium built despite many saying that he had zero to do with it.
