  6. Does that involve fighting fans of your own in the stands when your offense sucks real hard??

  7. We may, but it's always easy to spend someone else's money... I'm with Travis here, give him a new deal! He earned it.

  8. No. I would restructure the contract, give them an extension, and increase their price to keep them. UNT and Grant lose with us both not going to the dance. There is no reason that we force the athletic department to lose more just because it didn't work out for either.

  9. Weird fact: Ramon is currently Director of Former Player Relations at SMU. I've never heard of that position. Is this pretty common, to have a paid position where someone just keeps tabs with student-athlete alumni?

  10. I'm sure Wren Baker is looking forward to your $25k check to cover that bonus! On behalf of all Mean Green fans everywhere, thanks for stepping up Deep!

  11. For what it's worth (from a Washington Post article): https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/baylor-bears/2020/03/18/how-would-area-teams-have-done-in-the-big-dance-multiple-experts-had-unt-as-cinderella-baylor-as-top-contender/

  12. My two big dreams for this athletic department are 1) A S16 appearance for the men's bball team and 2) A NY6 Bowl game for the football program. A S16 appearance or NIT final by the women's bball team can also be magical. I saw what it did to El Paso years ago when the Miner WBBALL team did it.

  13. He should get the NCAA bonus of $25,000. The CUSA tournament was cancelled granting us the automatic bid. Put up the banner and pay the man.

  14. Those later years of the Dickster and Ramon Flanagan just running an offense to finish the game as fast as possible, while sitting in Fouts, were just brutally boring. Of course, in true UNT fashion, our next coach couldn’t stop a YMCA offense, and our next coach literally lost his mind to the point of losing the worst game in modern college football history. Almost makes Seth’s 4-8 season look ok by comparison....

  16. Mac did everything he was supposed to do that was within his control. I'm sure we have some deep pockets somewhere that would feel the same way.

  17. Are we talking the $25K bonus? If so, just pay the man the bonus. It won't kill us.

  18. If you were the boss, and you set a sales goal for your sales force, and they goal was unattainable because of something out of everyone's control, like the Corona virus, would you award your sales staff a bonus ? Many people are unable to work their full jobs right now (airlines, hotels, restaurants. etc). I can't imagine everyone gets paid based on what "probably" happens, or "I'm sure they're going to win" assumptions. A base salary of nearly $700,000. is not the end of the world.

  19. Exactly!!!! (on a more serious note, has she ever worked for anyone other than her father?)

  20. Because he basically did make it with an auto bid. I was confident that we would’ve won the whole tournament Also why not! It’s not gonna kill anyone, and it really can help recruiting with a banner

  21. No. It isn't. Why should this be on UNT to pay an NCAA tournament bonus when there was no tournament?

  22. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/LongFormArticle/North-Texas-Mean-Green-basketball-top-five-plays-of-2019-20-Zachary-Simmons-145121345/ Zach’s best game of the season came against Dayton where he scored 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting with almost every bucket coming against star forward Obi Toppin. Time after time, he backed him down and used his versatile post package to finish over and around him.

  24. Everything I'm hearing from online from scientists in epidemiology/virology is that 12-18 months is probably best case. There are no vaccines yet - there are vaccine candidates, some of which are in early testing. Those have to go through a lot of testing before being proven to be both effective and safe. Then once that happens it has to be produced. Don't expect a vaccine until at least 2021.

  26. I read a couple things the last couple days from scientists/publications that any vaccine will take 12+ months to get to, no matter how much money you throw at it. I'm actually cautiously optimistic that Rick is right: when the 'want' is there, and we fuel it with necessary funds, humanity can accomplish some amazing things.

  27. I thought that too, and wondered what the basis for that statement is. I don't know everything about our offense, but I think I read somewhere that we were one of the top 5 offenses in the country in terms of efficiency.

  28. I'm sorry, but when has our offense been called bad by anyone? I mean we were top 20 in field goal (I think), 3 Point, etc. What a terrible point by that person

  29. I would say that this whole season was a huge roller coaster. I mean low to middle of the pack expectations to start, losing very close games in OOC to some usual powerhouse schools, losing a tough lead in BG, winning 8 in a row and winning in places we haven't in a long time, losing on the road to a bad Rice team, bouncing back and winning 4 in a row to close out the normal regular season, losing a thriller to LT (One of the top games last season), flying charter to Miami and blasting them for our first win in Miami in 4 try's since 2015, beating WKU in one of the best Mean Green basketball games ever and winning the C-USA Regular season ON HOME COURT, and first win against WKU since 2012, losing to Charlotte in a sort of pointless game for NT, and getting the rest of the crazy season canceled. That was a roller coaster typing it!

  33. Well, I guess we should have figured, but UNT has closed all athletic fields until further notice. This, unfortunately, makes cancellation of this year’s Kickball Classic necessary. Really too bad, but cannot be avoided and probably for the best considering the need to be safe and “social distance”, etc. Certainly do not want to take any unnecessary chances with this virus. If you have donated, sponsored or signed up to play in this year’s event, please PM me your wishes concerning either simply converting your player registration to a donation to the Cheer program or if you would prefer a refund. We will honor your wishes without problem or question. Many thanks to all of you who opted to support these great student-athletes. Hate to see our 10th annual event cancelled, but simply cannot be helped. See ya next year for our next event. Please PM me your wishes. GO MEAN GREEN!

  34. Interesting... Haunga coming to NT from Auburn Morris' dad currently on staff at Auburn Wonder if these connections factor in on the recruiting trail or transfer portal down the road. Either way, excited for these additions.

  38. Why. There was no tournament to grant Grant... Why pay a 'getting us to the NCAA tournament' bonus when he didn't get us into the NCAA tournament.

  41. the "MSM" apparently is just awful at math. the point being made, on the other hand, is valid. here's some better math: Bloomberg spent $60-$220 per vote in Super Tuesday states even taking the low-end of that, $60, and extrapolating that out to the number of votes it took to win in 2016 (also, the low number)...you're looking at around a $3.8 BILLION investment. there is far too much money influencing politics. and it baffles my mind that so many defending the uber rich do so as this sort f principled defense of capitalism...that some how because "hard work" merited the rich their station in life, that maybe if I bring my lunch box and use some elbow grease I too can eventually be worth $50B. nah. everyone of you reading this right now is far closer to bankruptcy and destitution than you are being even multi-millionaires, let alone sniffing a billion
