Our lives have been affected in two ways. (1) Five of us were scheduled to leave on a trip to The Dominican Republic last Saturday. Three of us are older than 70 and two of us are younger than 55. We all checked with our health care professionals about the trip. The ones over 70 were advised to not go while the younger ones were told to go and have a good time. I would love to be on a beach drinking a pina colada BUT..... (2) Our church service today was live streamed with no audience allowed in the sanctuary. I watched the service from my recliner while drinking cup of coffee and eating a donut. It may be tough to get me back to a regular service if we continue to do that.5 points

We are not prepared for this. I think things are going to get a lot worse before they get better, unfortunately.4 points

No, nor have I made contact with a patient that is known to be infected. I work within a 7.5 million person metro area, the 4th largest in the nation so I’m sure that will change at some point? Last night for there to be so many warnings to stay home there were a crap ton of people out and about,...especially it being a Sunday night full of thunder storms. We spent most of the night running EMS calls and for fires due to lightening strikes and car wrecks on the highway. At 11 pm last night there were thousands of people on the highways. I’m guessing between 8 pm and 6am we spent 3 hours on the freeways alone. How about some good news? I’ve been searching for news anywhere that gives us a count of people who have survived Covid19. Lots of info on infections but very little on survivors. Heres a source that’s pretty interesting and their numbers seem accurate. Theres interesting updates with sources listed at the bottom. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#italian-media The numbers are updated at midnight. You can see the count by each country that is affected. . Some things that most caught my interest: 77,868 people have survived. Saturday the U.S. had 351 new cases. Sunday that number reduced to 122. Yesterday Italy reported zero new cases. That would be huge for them if that can continue. Theres been few if any deaths in children that I can tell, 15 years of age and below. If you find something interesting on the site please share. Rick3 points

I just got back from Germany yesterday. We were freaked out on Thursday morning after the travel restrictions were announced. It took 12 hours for Delta to call me back to change my flight. However, that didn't happen because of the fees to change airports was ridiculous. Our flight from Dusseldorf, Germany to Atlanta was maybe 40-50% full. When we arrived in Atlanta, the CDC boarded our plane and gave us a survey. After we filled it out, they gave me a PowerPoint that recommended I stay home for 2 weeks if I feel sick. After that we went through customs, and were on our way to DFW. People are freaked out more in the DFW area than Germany.3 points

I can understand that this means a lot to you, just wish you would take this to a more private exchange, rather than come up regularly in our threads.3 points

1. Yes, in response to his smart-a$$ed comment about me. I should have let it go, but responded. 2. So, if I am reading correctly from a site administrator, as long as I call a group of fellow posters a derogatory term it is alright, just don't single anyone out. Got it. I don't call out the admin all the freaking time. Just a couple that act in this manner. I would put them on ignore, but the site doesn't allow that due to their administrator label.3 points

I am doing just fine, but thanks for caring. If I called posters on here miserable f***s I would be suspended or banned, but I guess it is alright for administrators to do this.3 points

With all sports gone for the foreseeable future, and many of us at home, we need something to discuss.... Southern Miss has "the Rock" and LA Tech has "the Joe". I think Apogee needs a moniker too. Since Littrell took over as coach, the Mean Green have won 75% of our games at Apogee (18-6 home record). I think that is a significant home field advantage, and worthy of a moniker. My proposal... Apogee Stadium- the Palace of Malice. Thoughts?2 points

Italy and France updated around this time yesterday, so I suspect their numbers just haven't come in yet. It is a great source though - I've been using it almost exclusively for the last two weeks. EDIT: And Italy just updated with another spike.2 points

My post above is an effort from John Hopkins. They are making an incredible effort to monitor this as accurately as possible. I don’t really know how it works, but this site called github makes a lot of this data mining possible. read their blog here2 points

Unless the Palace of Malice outbid Apogee than I will stick with Apogee. I believe alternate names have to occur spontaneously and become engrained through heavy usage. The Pit for example.2 points

Give me: Ryan Woolridge at the point. I want the ball in his hands. Tony Mitchell in the middle... and feed him, A LOT (man, could you imagine a screen/roll game with Woolridge & Mitchell?) Jordan Williams on one wing Jeremy Combs on the other Tristan Thompson off the ball creating his own scoring chances. That is a deadly starting 5 folks. On the bench I can be picky with who I want and why: PG Josh White - ball handler, leader, heart G - Alzee Williams - DEFENSE, capable scorer, can run point in a pinch. G - Chris Jones - good combo guy Wing - Rose Smart - despite his last two seasons... that '17-'18 season was special. He could shoot it from anywhere. ***If guaranteed "Sophomore Smart" production, I'd likely swap out Combs for him in the starting lineup.*** F - Roger Franklin - versatility. Great rebounder. F - George Odufawa - banger. tough guard on the post. 3&D - Brandon Walton - crazy range. 3&D - DJ Draper - How do you not love the walk-on story? Glue guy - Jacob Holmen - long body, can shoot or put it on the floor. Great team player. Last guy - Javion Hamlet - Thought about J'Mychal Reese here because he was so talented, but I can't NOT include Javion.2 points

Had do a little research , actually Josh White, Tristan Thompson and Tramiel all last played in 2010 ,making them barely eligible for the all decade team. Start off with the easy picks Tony Mitchell, Probably the greatest athlete to ever play basketball at NT, and Jordan Williams who averaged double figures for 4 years. Combs who had double figure scoring for the three years he was here. Add Wooledge despite his departure. My last pick is George Odufawa, a standout rebound man and adequate scorer for the first two years of the decade. Add Gibson as a sixth man Hamlet although only playing one year is the second best player among the named players, but I restricted my picks to those who had played at least two years in the decade.2 points

This is what excites me about next year. Hamlet is a leader and refused to let us lose at La Tech and at home against WKU. He will push this team to new levels. A leader with his personality and ability is something we haven’t seen in a long time.2 points

Wow! I don't remember having those produced. It must have been one of those unofficial orders that I put in with pro-line and only a select few got to buy before it was shut down. It was such a good idea that I don't have any leftovers......or one I kept for myself. Pro-line also did some art work for a proposed cap featuring the Alumni NT-star. The pro-line rep said that the NT star was such a bad ass design that we would sell a ton of them. It got nixed by the athletic department right before I was set to say "go" to pro-line.2 points

On a good day, our hospitals are close to max and likely understaffed. Between that and major screwups in test availability and procedure, plus folks going out in large groups due to bad top level leadership, we might be in for a mess.2 points

Played a Disc Golf Tournament yesterday in Hot Springs and ran into another Alum playing in my foursome. Pretty cool guy, He nearly aced a hole and then I threw an ace right after he hit the basket 🙂 He is a local FF/Paramedic in the mid-Cities. Just cool coincidence.2 points

I’m worried though because we play some much bigger teams, and from what I saw in the LT game it concerns me a lot Maybe we can have Mason play and name him Fason Mine2 points

He spent one spring with arguably the worst coaching staff in all of college football. I don't know how much that brings to the table, TBH.2 points

Bean better be packing on some weight! I have concerns about his durability as a runner. I hope Aune (pronounced Aune) steps into the starting position.2 points

I was only able to catch a little but, but he talked about how “out of body” the whole situation has been. The emotions of going from thinking they would be playing in empty arenas, to the CUSA tourney being cancelled (which automatically put UNT in the NCAA tourney), to the Big Dance being cancelled. Talked about breaking the news to the team and how bad he felt for the players, especially the seniors. He was also asked about seniors being given another year of eligibility and he said that deep in his heart he hoped they would, but that realistically he didn’t think it would happen. He did express his hope that the seniors on spring sports teams would be given an extra year. That’s all I caught before having to leave my vehicle. What I heard of it was very good.2 points

Linebacker Cody Spencer was UNT's last player selected in 2004. UNT has the longest draft drought in major college football. Thanks Brett.2 points

From what I have seen and watched it would Aune, Martin, Bean. Bean tends to take off to fast before looking down field.1 point

My bet is Bean will be the QB. He will give NT a dual threat QB that should be hard for any opposing team to cope with. Having said that it should be a great competition and should produce a QB that can lead this NT team.1 point

I have not heard any official announcement from UNT as to what their future plans are for this land and the adjoining land they are acquiring. How do you know it won't be utilized for classroom space or dorms? If you have seen an announcement from UNT, and not just speculation, please share the link. I'd be interested to read the official announcement. Seems to me that if the land was acquired by eminent domain, than the use must be for a "public good"...sounds like classroom space, dorm space, administrative space or something as such to me. But, I am no expert on eminent domain and what is considered "public good".1 point

Had to rethink about that thread title.... at first I thought you were asking if we should retain or fire Mac.1 point

Jesus I hate these threads. We think so small time and any hint of success we start talking about them leaving. it took many years for JJ to get his chance for a big school. Even so, I wish we wouldn’t be so quick to go to this type of thinking.1 point
