  1. Why are we trying so hard to get him back? I say let him go to UCF or FSU, and let us either develop Aune or Bean or get a good trasnfer (Not like Alec Morris)

  2. Why not bring him in if he wants.. this is a full blown competition this spring and don't forgot about kuehne. He's my favorite

  3. Take it from a recent graduate.. most of the students that actually go to the games don’t give a damn about any baggage a coach may bring. Wins cure all.

  4. So once again were talking about students who say you must be inclusive and accept everyone possibly protesting because they don't accept someone? 🤔

  6. This year, the state of Texas, which is supposed to have the best high school football talent in the country, had its 12 FBS colleges produce 4 teams with a winning season—Baylor (🤨), SMU (🤢), A&M (🙄), and UT (😩). The last two won 7 games and lost 5. TCU went 5-7. UNT, UH, UTSA, and Tech went 4-8. Texas State and Rice went 3-9. UTEP went 1-11. TCU beat UT and Tech for 2 wins. We beat UTSA and UTEP for 2 wins. UTSA beat Rice and UTEP for 2 wins. Rice beat us and UTEP for two wins. UH beat us for 1 win. Tech beat UTEP for 1 win. UT beat Rice and Tech for 2 wins. A&M beat UTSA and Texas State for 2 wins. Finally, SMU beat us, TCU, UH, and Texas State for 4 wins, while Baylor beat UT, Tech, TCU, UTSA, and Rice for 5 wins. Texas State and UTEP didn’t beat a Texas FBS team. Baylor did well against non-Texas FBS competition, going 5-2. SMU went 6-2. UT went 5-3. A&M went 4-5. TCU went 2-5. Tech went 2-5. UH went 1-7. We went 1-5. UTSA went 1-5. Rice went 1-6. Texas State went 2-7. UTEP went 0-7. This proud state of ours is suffering mightily from the state of play at our high school levels of play. We aren’t developing linemen or defense enough to beat anyone outside of this state on any regular basis. This stupid spread stuff is basically glorified 7-on-7. Until this changes, I don’t see things changing much for any of us.

  7. Starkel would be a great pickup. But it doesn't matter because if we don't fix our OLine....Joe Burrow wouldn't help us. If we have 10 pressing issues to fix, QB is probably #8 on that list.

  8. You bring in a QB each class. He happens to be the one we’ve invested in most so far, & is still available. Even if it’s not Renfro, we’re going to bring in someone else this year.

  9. The Flyers are up next and ranked 13th in the AP Poll and 12th in the Coaches Poll. Another tough road game but good measuring stick on how this time is playing. Gotta be the most ranked teams we have played in a single season in a long time.

  10. Yeah I think Kuehne is better overall than Martin

  11. A commitment means nothing to any of these kids. And when the kids commit its just on a whim. It's great these kids are showing some interest in NT just let me know who signs early or late then we can talk about the future of NT football. BV told me once that these young men are allowed to change there minds all they way up to signing day...ok. Guess I'm to old...I felt once you commit YOUR committed ...but no. Commitment and responsibility.....hmmmm kind go to gather.

  12. Doubt he would make it professionally unless it was not the NFL. He throws a lot of int's.

  13. That was referencing basketball, where there is only D1, no FBS or FCS delineation.

  14. Yes. Jeremy Combs did it last year with Texas Southern after being a grad transfer at LSU the year before. 3 years with us, 1 at LSU (which he ended up getting a redshirt for due to medical hardship), and 1 at Texas Southern.

  15. I don't understand why people commit so early (Renfro) and leave, or when you "commit" and back out days later. They need to have a football commitment class lol Also, you don't see basketball recruits doing this...

  16. We have way too much time on our hands...

  17. Then who is our back up plan because we need a couple DT’s? Tired of the word “committed.” Half of these kids have no idea what that word means.

  18. I believe Manziel was almost forced to after he won the Heisman due to his popularity.

  19. You think that's just the grad transfer thing?

  20. We should Texit, keep our players in Texas, and play amongst ourselves

  21. Another factor to consider is the out of state competition in recruiting. Every program wants a foothold in Texas. A lot of Texas kids end up playing out of state more and more it seems.

  23. I think Keuhne has way more potential than Martin. I mean I watched both film from Martin and Keuhne, and I just think Keuhne would be a better starter in the long run

  24. There’s a lot of high school football that doesn’t rely n Chunk & Duck offenses. Go watch Aledo today. Amarillo Tascosa runs a triple option out of the flex bone. Gunter does too. Brock runs the slot T. All very successful at it. Even as of this season L.D. Bell has changed to a run based flex bone offense. Football kids that love the sport love the contact, and those kids also love to win. So there’s plenty of football talent in Texas and throughout the country to operate a physical run-blocking style offense if that’s what the coach wants to run. Rick

  25. Anybody know anything about this young man? Seems to be little news on a fairly highly rated QB.

  26. I know choosing college is a big decision, and they need to take their time, but don't commit until you are sure. Take all your visits, explore your options, but do that before you make your commitment. It's just like getting engaged, then breaking off the engagement to date around.

  27. Hopefully other top targets do come in this weekend as well so they can see the unity in the rest of the commits & want to join.

  29. The results of our teams in this state for the last few years has not been good. We have seen a few good teams in the last 5 seasons, but not many. Last year, us, UH, UT, A&M, and Baylor had winning regular seasons. It just seems like the state can’t produce the physicality it once did. And I do blame that on Mike Leach and the way TX HS coaches adopted his offense—they love it, the kids love playing in it, and the fans like the offense lighting up the scoreboard. But it makes defense less of a priority and tackling skills become worse and worse.

  30. Questionable view IMO. Texas doesn't produce enough high school talent to make twelve in-state teams winners plus at the same time exporting a large portion of the top talent to the national power teams. Not producing enough linemen because what. Texas teams play with only skill players? Linemen have always been at a premium because of the size required. There are in comparison many more players that fit the usual dimensions of QB, RB, WR, and DB, LB's. Finding big players is not the challenge, but finding big players that are quick enough to play college ball are.

  31. Makes sense to me. We are definitely playing the game now. At least we are at the point of having commits other schools want to poach based on quality. Seems a lot of other schools follow our offers and commits very closely waiting for their moment to strike. We must be doing something right

  32. You may be on to something. Only 5 Texas High School programs are too 25 nationally. They are correct that talent has been leaving the state though. Of the playoff teams. OU has 42 Texas players including their top passer, top rusher, top 2 receivers, and top 2 tacklers. LSU has 15 Texas players including Thorpe winner Delpit. OSU has 6 including their leading rusher JK Dobbins. Clemson has 1, a starting right end who was Gene Stallings grandson.

  33. Likely someone wants him to visit this weekend but they won't fly him and pay to put him up if he's committed somewhere... so he decommits so he can go and see what his options are. I believe him when he says we're still in his top 3. These guys have to play the game. We just need coach Yellock to stay on him.

  34. Or maybe he wants more of a guarantee than just a fair crack. Bowman has won out over him two years in a row under both of their last two coaching staffs. He probably wants more of a guarantee that he will be on the field his last year than risk backing up Bowman all year.

  35. I I didn't reference anything you said or I would have quoted you. As for briles, hell yeah bring him on. He's 3 schools removed from Baylor and these kids we're recruiting weren't even in high school yet when he was with Baylor. He's a great OC with P5 and G5 success. Yes I want him more than any 1 recruit.

  36. FAU has a student football watching population?
    1 point
  37. So you are saying that their is zero parity between our student football watching population and those at UH, FAU, and FSU? You make a valid point if we had been FAU hiring him in 2017 but, If he came (and I doubt he would), we would be Kendal’s 4th job since Baylor and I don’t think the 3 programs he’s served at since BU are any worse off in student attendance or donor participation than before he showed up. You can’t please 100% of the people 100% of the time. Heck, our O-line coach has 8 major NCAA rules violations including lack of institutional control on his resume. It seems to me the metoo feminist equality groups you mentioned above don’t turn out to football games in large numbers except to hold up signs and complain about something. That would go on for a little bit and the traditional football fans would ignore them and they would go away after a few weeks.

  38. My #1 would be to bring Fedora in. That would be simply amazing. Otherwise Briles would be a #2. And that's mainly due to Littrell's no-nonsense, straightforward approach. He can be trusted. Briles cannot, yet. Genuine question: Did Houston lose a lot of student fans when Briles was there a season ago? I keep going back to that scenario because I believe it would be VERY similar if Briles were to show up here... Similar school size & demographics.

  40. Can we get Graham Harrell back to UNT for 1/2 mil?
    1 point
  41. I don't think he'll get another P5 job though, so the million-dollar salary may have to wait. Meanwhile, I don't know what he made while at Houston just over a year ago, but I bet it was around $500k, and I think NT could make that happen.

  43. I remember Ken Lyons knocking Aguirre into the bench. Joe Hamilton going back a long way, he is the one who would have substantially upped his 20 + average points with threes available. Whitaker and Winfield on the same team as Hamilton would be on my all time team as would Ken Lyons.
