Football Parking Question For Kingdl?

I noticed on my new "Blue" lot parking passes I recieved yesterday in the mail it states in bright, clear lettering:

"Between 8am and 3 hours before kick-off

you may choose which side of the lot you

would like to park on. All vehicles in after

that time will go north to south. Please

follow directions of attendants.

MUST PARK WHERE DIRECTED"

My question to KingDL, because of all the hard...."ahem" work you have put into this issue

the past 2 to 3 years is: Is this a new policy to allow people who get in earlier than 3 hours before kick-off

to choose what side of the lot they want to park on? I don't remember this option ever being offered before when I parked

for each game, and I don't remember it ever stating this on the parking passes?

This isn't new. They did this last year as well... It is their solution to our bitching about festival parking. It still is the absolute suck.

This is why there is a huge gap in the middle of the parking lot where the helicopter decided to land and say hello.

So this was a response to a problem? Hmmm, did it improve or help the problem any? Not saying it's perfect, but did it improve?

Just asking?

Rick, like Chad said it was a reaction to our complaining, and they used this policy last year. It is still a pain in the butt though. The biggest problem is if you are tailgating with others they don't let you park together unless you arrive at the same time. Even if there is no traffic they won't let you hold a spot unless you twist the parking Nazi's arms, and then it is always a new battle each week. It does pay to get there early though. The North side has more going on, and is closer to the Practice field, the South side is close to the Alumni Side but it is not very crowded and beerman was down there. I like beerman for about 4 songs then I get to the I think "I am going to kill him stage" at song 5. Then again he may have followed us back to the North side the last game we tailgated the 08 season.

I am ready to tailgate!!!!!

Let the winning begin!

Thanks for posting that picture. Last year when that helicopter landed in the parking lot, it completely blew our 10x10 canopy over (it has 5 pound weights on each leg) and did minor damage to our car because it landed on it. I was more than a little annoyed to find out later it was simply for show.

Honestly, if they direct you down an aisle and you decide instead to cross a half empty parking lot to park at the south end, what are they really going to do??

Last year I pulled my SUV forward into a spot and pitched my tent in the spot behind it. After getting set up, the parking police asked for my second pass. I said I don't have one, and they politely told me to break it down. I smiled and said OK, they drove off and I didn't move my tent.

When you don't have a parking problem, it's hard to get all bent out of shape enforcing the rules.

Sometimes they are not polite. Abusive? nah, but they have been difficult.

I dunno... Tony has seen them almost kick us out for questioning their policies. They were bent out of shape about me using my extra parking pass to tailgating next to my truck. They wanted no gaps in parking. We almost got escorted out until someone from the ticket office came out and told them to chill out.

We just moved onto the lawn to tailgate, but have to haul our crap all the way across the parking lots to pack up. It is really making us whittle down our operation. We aren't nearly as creative as before.

We tailgate in the median in front of the Murch Dillo and across from the Gateway center. Since we are one of the early risers, we have to park up near the stadium, instead of on the end near the median. When it is game time, we can't pull out the truck to load up, so we have to haul it back through tents, grills and footballs being thrown at our heads. ;)

I have to say that my second biggest reason to look forward to the new stadium (#1 is improved sightlines) is the improvement to the tailgating that it will/should provide. I am really looking forward to seeing a plan for how it's going to work...but there are so many more options for finding nice grassy areas to tailgate on over there.

Has anyone seen any kind of map/plan for how it's going to work?

RV Parking is at the South End...My Pops Brings out his Bus, sets up the 36" under the canopy, gets the grill going and I pull right up to the last row right behind him and we tailgate there...I buy an extra pass every year so we have one for the bus, and one for a follow car...

We'll have the flags flying and be there in full force this year...Still waiting on my season tickets and parking, but we're chomping at the bit!
