I Have A Question About Sports Bets

Does anyone know of a good online sports betting site? Or is that ill-advised all around?

Since I follow college football so closely as well as NFL, i thought for this season it might be fun to put a little on this game or that.

I still have an account with sportsbook.com and never have had a problem with it. I have used the account but I haven't tried to deposit more funds or make a withdraw since the new laws went into effect. So play at your own risk.

Ditto that for me, including the part about trying to make a deposit since the new laws went into effect. I think it's still very easy to do via wire transfers though.

good luck guys! Do Not bet more than you can afford to lose....as my wise father once told me about Las Vegas..."They don't build those big beautiful casinos and give out free drinks because they lose money!". Think about it...it's always...ALWAYS...in the favor of the house. I'm not opposed to a wager or two or a trip to Vegas...been there and done that...but, just keep it in perspective...I have never...NEVER...had anyone come back from Vegas and tell me they lost! It's always how much they won...or..."I pretty much broke even"....SURE....I can see the casinos crumbling now due to the lack of money for upkeep since everyone is winning or "breakin' even"....give me a break! Have fun...enjoy a wager or two...but keep it under control! I'll take the Mean Green and 17 vs. Zero U! No, that's not my prediction...

I know a guy... ;)

---I once knew of a guy named "Big John". He owned a big bat with a metal core... Limit gambling for fun and no expected profits. The advice by that the father gave about those big buildings in the desert of Nevada is correct. They were not paid for by people who went there and won and got rich.. I teach probability and I don't really gamble for a reason.. the odds are stacked against you... A few bucks among friends is a different matter, that I do and even then it is more the fun of winning than the money.

---Even most slot machines average 5% profit (interest) every time you pull the handle. CD's can do the same but that takes a year.

--- I even tell my probability classes that if a person does it they should just do it for the fun and not for profit. Our State Lotto system is just another name for a tax on the poor and gullible. Scratch - offs pay out about $450 for every $1000 worth of "tickets". purchased.. The state makes $400, the seller (7-11?) gets $50, and the publisher of the tickets gets about $150. As for pick-six, you are more likely to get killed in car wreck on the way to buy a ticket than you are to win.

---Have fun---

I concur. Gambling can be fun in moderation as long as you don't go "all in". ;) I've been known to goto the horseraces and bet a bit, but never more than a few bucks. Amazingly enough the last few times I've been I have either made a bit or broke even. I try and keep my losses under 15 bucks per trip(I usually stop completely after being down 10) - then I can say it was just the price of a day of fun, like going to a baseball game or omething.
