The Houston Texans are just plain brilliant

Recommended Posts

The Texans fan base took the largest blow in franchise history this past Sunday- one from which they will not soon recover (think "1993 Oiler loss to Bills" proportions).

This is what happens when you pass on a winner- one that on the radio practically begged the Texans to take him- to keep a loser. I'm glad Vince is proving all the critics wrong. People in Houston are proud of the hometown kid and it showed on Sunday. It was a hard thing to watch. You wish the guy well, but you want your team to win.

The Texans have largely been a stupid organization from the get-go, so I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise to me anymore. I honestly don't know why I am a fan anymore, aside from being from Houston.

5 years and counting, nothing to show for it.

If the Texans had not been so ridiculously attached to David Carr, they could of traded him for at least two quality defensive guys and had Young to build around at QB. I was an Oiler fan all my life and it's no wonder that I have yet to warm to the Texans. One of the dumbest moves in NFL history from both a personnel and public relations standpoint.

Young can't play in the NFL.  Bad throwing mechanics.  NFL linebackers are too fast for him.

This is what I actually thought about Vince Young. Especially the fact that he could get killed running the ball with the fast LBs. I did think that Houston should have taken either Matt Leinert or Reggie Bush. Yes, Matt Leinert. They could have traded Carr for a couple of offensive linemen.

Something I realized after seeing the tireless replays of Vince Young running or throwing for winning TDs the past few weeks- Carr came from a decent mid-level, non-BCS program from the MWC in Fresno State. Vince Young came from the a National Championship BCS program in the Texas Longhorns.

Houston really screwed up.

1 interception and 1 touchdown...rushing.

not sure if you watched the game, but his wide receivers leave much to be desired. One of them dropped a deep, well-thrown ball in the first drive of the game. Not sure if it would have been a TD pass or not, but his supporting cast is pretty lousy, aside from RB.

either way, the guy wins. Better yet, he refuses to lose. Plain and simple. They have now won 6 of their last 8 games. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Titans sneak into the play off picture.

Yeah, who wouldn't want the 31st best QB in the NFL leading the way?

BTW, Young and Vick are last and next to last in completion percentage and yards per attempt. They run around sometimes, which excites some people. But, at the end of the day, neither of their teams is competitive, nor will they be unless they get Chicago Bear-like defenses to cover for their perpetual hit-and-miss play on offense.

I would, if he's led my team to 6-7--as a rookie. Maybe you'd be more pleased with Leinart's 4-9? He doesn't run around as much, but he is rated higher. I'm sure Cardinals fans can take that as consolation. tongue.gif

It excites most people when players make plays to win ballgames for their teams.

David Carr and his team couldn't make plays to win the game.

But thank goodness he is ranked 9th on your list. rolleyes.gif

I believe somebody made mention of Vince Young's supporting cast. Let's not pretend for a second that David Carr has a supporting cast either. He wasn't the most sacked QB in the NFL because his offensive line gave him all kinds of time to throw.

The Texans screwed up in not taking Vince Young or Reggie Bush, no doubt. On both counts it was because these two players are adept and making people miss. Let's not pretend that Young is anything more than a running back who takes all of the snaps...and a running back who gets to wait until his wideouts take half the defense downfield before he decides to run.

I agree with you that VY is a running back who can throw, but so what?

He does what it takes to win games. Style points are for ice skaters.

I couldn't care less how he does it, and I don't know any Titans fans who do, either. wink.gif
