Final: Carroll 33, Colleyville Heritage 7

Another victory, another regional title, another state-semifinal appearance for the guys in green. Congratulations to both Carroll and Colleyville Heritage.

RB Tre' Newton finishes with a monster game: 41 carries, 296 yards, two TDs.

Carroll now awaits the winner of Allen and Spring Westfield. Word on the street is that the game will be at Texas Stadium in Allen wins, in Nacogdoches if Westfield wins. Read the paper for more information.

So much for all the "one dimensional offense" banter about Todd Dodge.

Let's face facts, his system is incredibly effective. Colleyville Heritage was as prepared as possible for this rivalry and was still dominated.

Yes, but will it translate well to the college ranks?...that is the million $$$ question my friend. If so then our offense will vastly improve...if not we've got ourselves a lame-duck HS coach coaching our D-IA program.

I personally think it would be great, and would work out awesome (probably 1-2 year adjustment period)...but I still think the coach is going to be someone most of us have not heard about and whom has not been mentioned as of yet.

Stay tuned...

There have beengames during the past two years where the score would have actually been closer if the quarterback had taken a knee on every snap.

Sure, it would have eliminated a couple of token second half touchdowns, but the time taken off the clock would have meant less time for the other team to keep scoring.

I want an offense which actually can do enough to win a game.

Here's a question.

In the OOC victories during the Dickey era, which ones had all the North Texas touchdowns scored by the offense?

Look into that and you'll see how often we relied on defense and special teams to make the margin of victory.
