  1. We are very fortunate to have Apogee.

  2. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/LongFormArticle/Where-North-Texas-Mean-Green-2019-football-commits-play-this-week-Nov-2-3-124111293/ The 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings put North Texas at No. 56 nationally for the 2019 recruiting cycle. Again, the Mean Green sits atop the Conference USA rankings, something North Texas has done for several months now. The Mean Green ranks 21 spots higher than the next-highest Conference USA team, which is Western Kentucky at No. 77 in the country.

  3. Briles is one of the brightest young minds in the game. He will be a HC very soon. Could be Houston. I wouldn't be opposed. Look how different FAU looks without him. Look how much Houston has improved with him.

  4. Living in Clark hall it was awesome just to go running around the track whenever I wanted to. Top games forever etched in memory: 1 Nevada rain win 2 Oregon state win 3 Baylor rout 4 New Mexico State win (listened to it📻) 5 SMU win Also the whole necessary roughness filming happening around campus and the stadium turned into a stage for the filming. Thank you Fouts Field! GMG

  5. If you cannot understand the difference between UNT, being it's own system with the University in Denton as the flagship, VS UT-A, a satellite/peon school of the UT system... I'm sorry, we cannot help you. As for basketball, I think you know full well what's about to happen. What is it with the UT system schools wanting to have "rivalries" with NT? I don't understand. There are so many other UT system satellite/peons you could have actual "rivalries" with instead.

  6. Gaddy had a pick 6 last night and one of the Murphy brothers almost had a scoop and score.

  7. No way Smatresk allows a Briles to coach. The whole staff/family failed Baylor (along with many others). It's a reputation hit we don't need to take when everything is going so positive on the academic and athletic front. With what we are doing on the field and with facilities and budgets, we can get a really great coach without this kind of reputation hit. I don't know how Wren would handle but it's doubtful a President would hire a Briles as HC. With what we are paying, we could probably hire Skip Holtz or Bill Clark who have both proven to be highly successful in CUSA.

  8. Not saying I wouldn’t like to end up in Shreveport, or New Orleans (or even the Bahamas if I could afford the travel) but I already have 8 tickets (and counting) to the Servpro Bowl so it wouldn’t be so bad to go the Cotton Bowl. I am pretty sure we could pull together 300-500 tickets to get some students in with all of the first responders on this board.

  10. That's fair. I'm just not one to take advantage of generosity. My understanding is that corporate sponsors donate money to the bowl to cover the costs of the first responder tickets. If I were a corporate sponsor donating to first responders I would be upset to find out my donations are going to college students. Simply my opinion.

  11. The reliefs that were on the old women's gym (later named Stovall Hall) have been incorporated into the brickwork in front of the new Union, where Stovall Hall used to stand. It looks really nice and preserves that history. Perhaps something similar could be done at Apogee.

  13. Well... in the 60's and 70' ..being led by my late Father thru a portal at Fouts with an icy wind blowing,,,thats where my roots are. Hate to see it go but my Apogee trips are the future.....Nothing can replace that...

  16. The UNT-ROTC program has a supply room under the bleachers at Fouts Field. When they started gutting the place it disturbed all the asbestos within the walls. Needles to say it’s been a pain to work around that issue. So yes...good riddance.

  17. I was sad to see she wasn't at the UTEP game this year... Her services would have taken my stress level down a bit during our display of low energy against UTEP. There were no people on the rocks, there were barely people in the stands.

  18. Apogee is complete; I don't see the reliefs going there. But the construction of the indoor practice facility has just started, so there's an opportunity to use them.

  21. NT wins! 3:2 in PKs. NT was the better team overall, but not to a degree that the danger of going out was not absolutely real. They could not have really complained hadTech found a way to win.

  22. @emmitt01 Don't we need to show ID to get in with a first responder ticket?

  24. Ladies up 1-0 at the half. Bit annoying that ESPN+ had "technical difficulties during the time when NT scored.

  25. History of the Pecan bowl in case you end up on Jeopardy or Who wants to be a Millionaire. The second set of games known as the Pecan Bowl were played in Texas from 1964 through 1970.[2] The bowl was one of four regional finals in the College Division (which became Division II and Division III in 1973); it was not classified as a major bowl.[3] The Pecan Bowl was the regional final for the Midwest region, bounded on the east by the Mississippi River and on the west by the states of Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico.[4] The other three regional finals were the Tangerine (later Boardwalk), Grantland Rice, and Camellia bowls. These Pecan Bowl games were originally played at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene, and after four years moved to Arlington's Memorial Stadium for the last three editions.[5] The bowl name had been selected through a public contest in 1964, and was considered appropriate as Abilene is in the Texas pecan belt.[4] The first Midwest regional final was played in 1964 between the State College of Iowa (now the University of Northern Iowa) and Lamar Tech (now Lamar University), won by State College.[6][7] Two schools made three appearances, North Dakota State and Arkansas State, with both winning twice and losing once. They played each other in 1968, won by top-ranked NDSU.[8] The Midwest regional final shifted to the Pioneer Bowl in Wichita Falls in 1971.

  29. I've been told that elevated garage parking costs about $10,000. per space. In he short run, I wish the existing artificial turf could be striped over the carpet and people could part on the 30 or 40 or end zone. I also like the notion of a plaque remembering the location of the 50 yard line and /or the goal lines. GO MEAN GREEN

  30. So, let's discuss specific proposals. How do you feel about limits on clip capacity for semi-automatic weapons? For the sake of discussions lets say maximum capacity should be 8 or less in both rifles & handguns. How about banning private sales? Make it where every sale has to go through a licensed dealer. How about banning programs for 3D production of guns?

  31. No way it stays as parking. They'll use that land at some point. It's too valuable. But surface parking is cheap to build and they definitely need parking for the time being.

  33. And they say it is just college football...........it means a lot more to some people. Hard to believe fans won't come to the game because it might rain.

  34. I'm sorry, but for all of the amazing things Seth Littrell is doing here, he's going to have to do better in order to jump directly to Oklahoma. Cant drop double-digit leads to LATech & UAB and move straight from NT to Oklahoma.

  35. Folks, some of y’all are getting confused as to what a licensing company does. They are the middle man, overseeing and policing manufacturers and making sure they maintain the standards we set for our branding when our branding is used in or on a product. They do not “Supply” merchandise for us. They license manufacturers and suppliers who want to supply and sell their items to us. They give the green light to someone who wants to produce and sell a Mean Green version of their product, and hopefully eliminate the red tape in getting that product to you and I. With our previous agreement Helwig got us into with CLC...it all but eliminated a local or smaller producer from being able to partner with North Texas. Hopefully this eliminates the absolute hell that was previously required of a manufacturer wanting to produce Mean Green gear. Rick

  36. Sorry Harry, This isn't pointed at just you, but... His name is Mark Tikhonenko. He goes by "Tikho" for short, if "Mark" is too hard. I happen to think both are fairly easy to remember. I think it's time to stop referring to one of our players as "the Russian". That's the kind of disparaging thing we do to other teams' players.

  37. 🙂 Thanks for the good info in this thread. Please, no offense, but the title brought back to mind the punchline of an old joke. Seems that this guy was getting cozy with his girlfriend in one of the sleeping cars of a passenger train headed up the East Coast. A a critical moment, the Conductor walked through the compartment announcing "Norfolk Virginia...Norfolk Virginia!". Sorry.
