  2. At least they didn't buy their black jerseys the day of the game from Sports Authority....

  3. The Ticket had a college football segment a few minutes ago, spending quite a bit of time on Big 12. Then moved on to the "local scene", making light of TCU hosting Portland State and SMU at Memphis. Then on to SEC teams. I know I'm going to get -1'd for this, but why can't a station where we have two prominent alums even take the two seconds required to mention that we're hosting Indiana? Even if we weren't playing Indiana, just an "oh, and also North Texas is at home against X". The athletic department can only do so much if we're going to be outright ignored by the local media to the point of it feeling like they're trying to pretend we don't exist. Sorry, I'm fuming.

  5. 65 wonderful years. Thanks for the memories. God bless Texas! p.s., of course I meant 'Greene', but I can't seem to edit the topic title.

  6. Just woke up out here after another night in the red lot. It gets cold! Seeing our new football home in the early morning light gets the blood moving to the lower extremities. Looks like it's gonna be a BEAUTIFUL day in Mean Green land. Sorry Hoosiers...

  8. Went to the ticket office this afternoon to pick up some parking passes. Line for students had 20 people. A couple of people in the non-student line. Went inside and there were about 20 people in the gift shop including a few from Indiana. Staff appeared VERY busy. Nice to see. GMG

  10. Then Hayden planted every blade of grass at Fouts...by hand, one at a time. Then he loaded up his Model T with as many people as he could and drove them to the game. Then repeated this until the stadium was full. By the way, he paid for their tickets too. Then he transformed into a semi truck and fought off world destruction. Just sayin.... You know I kid Silver.

  12. My 10-yr old and I are heading to Denton at 2:00pm... This is our first game with our season tickets as we had to miss the opener against Houston... We're planning to park at either Fouts or maybe on campus somewhere... A little 2 man tailgate, throw the football around some and then head across the bridge to the stadium... Come say hi if you are so inclined... Section 204 Row 25 Seats 15-16 I can't wait... GO MEAN GREEN...!!

  14. If we don't win, Coach Mac should be burned by Mean Joe's 65 birthday candles and fired immediately, JJ style.

  15. The GB should play Happy Birthday at halftime. He's done a lot for North Texas lately and it would be pretty cool to hear everyone in Apogee singing to Mean Joe.

  16. I was at On the Border in Garland today and a hardcore Mean Green table was sitting at the table next to me. They saw my MG gear and their joiner friends were wearing theirs. They were at the Houston game and will be there manana. At my high school homecoming party tonigth several people giving me the claw as I mozied around the alumni party. I bet we have a solid crowd today and our team can sniff the W. Mean Green coming today! GMG

  17. Don't throw Georgie into this, he's got a lifetime pass as far as I'm concerned. He does nothing but talk positively about our school and his time here. Now craig is a different story, blame all things on him.

  19. I don't expect them to dedicate 15 minutes to UNT football. I do expect that when they're saying, "Here are the local games tomorrow" that they at least acknowledge our existence. I don't think that's too much to ask, even if we went 0-12.

  20. As a number of us have stated we will come back under coach mac and I feel sooner rather than later. We will win 5 -6 games this year. Go Mean Green -- Go North Texas Scrappyman 1

  23. At first I thought this was a Saturday Night Live sketch. Fully expected the kids to start ripping off each other's limbs and streaking naked across the campus.

  28. ---Agree... he not Tom Brady...[not many that good] but he is a lot better than most of them..... Even in the Jets game he was not that terrible.... Cowboys were supposed to lose and he (and the rest) were winning.. the fumble was because of his determination to get into the end zone... the ball hit an opponents knee...and popped out... the interception... well that is on him. I don't see any other ones around and available that are better. Knowing his physical condition that he played with last week (and won) is amazing. No one wants to win more than he does.... he just isn't Tom Brady or P.Manning... few are. He is not a personal embarrassment to Dallas either as some players have been..

  29. Coach Mac's efforts to engage the students, alumni, and larger community are unprecedented. And very much appreciated from this alumnus.

  30. Or how about beating the bushes and finding out some information on the many stories that have just been glossed over with the "well, they won't tell me anything" B.S. (See: Terrell Brooks). Losing a lot of respect and haven't looked at the mean green blog in a while, which says a lot because that is about the only place you can get information on this program from an authorized media source (no offense, Harry).

  31. Also, if you think about it, Coach McCarney and staff have only coached 3 games here. Less than a month ago, they had coached 0 games here. Coach Dickey did some great things while here. Coach Dickey did some bone-headed things while here as well. Same goes for Dodge (although the bone-headed things certainly outnumbered the great things for him). So it's fine to hear about those things... in moderation. What content do you expect from a beat reporter's BLOG (not newspaper stories, I've noticed the Dickey love/Dodge vitrol is truncated in the paper stories) if there is nothing to write about but the past? He probably had a million newspaper stories and blog entries about the new stadium over the past few months (because that's all that was going on), but I don't see anyone venting about going over the same old stadium news. Our history is our history. Vito was not here for the MVC glory years, or even the great 1-AA dominant years. So we can't expect him to have an opinion, in a blog, or in print on those days. The opinions we will see are ones from the years he's been covering UNT football. That includes DD years, TD years, & DM months. If coach McCarney is a winner like we all percieve him to be, then the stories will turn from "The Great Dickey" to, "The Great McCarney". If he is a failure, I'm sure we'll hear about the "The McCarney Fiasco". And, the more games we play, the further away coach Dodge's regime falls in the rearview mirror and the less we have to hear about it. At least, I hope so... Brett, you would move on from Dodge bashing/Dickey love if coach McCarney gives you something to write about... right?

  32. I am fed up hearing how great things were during the Dickey years and how horrible they have been during the Dodge regime. He keeps overstating the obvious. How about writing about current conditions and our aspirations? We don't need to be reminded daily about how bad things have been for the last six years. We've lived through it and we're trying to get past it, not relive it. One more of these trips through memory lane and I'm done with reading about us in either the Denton Record-Chronicle or the Dallas Morning News. I'll eventually get my information from the athletic website or this board. It may not be as timely but I'll enjoy it more.

  33. Lance and Hamilton in the same backfield with Byrd to spell each of them . DT throws to TE and Brelan, Outlaw & Co. just enough to keep IU from stacking the box. Like all Big Ten teams IU will be big to combat late season artic conditions in the Midwest. Like all Big Ten teams they will also be painfully SLOW. We will look like we have the speed of FIU & AL against these midwest clod hoppers. UNT 35 IU 20

  38. At the half! Thought I'd come out to see some possible UNT recruit prospects. Ain't happening! Why would an Oklahoma home school come all the way to SW Dallas County for a butt whipping? Left at halftime last night of a blowout SOC thrashing of a downtrodden Carter team (44-0) Ready for the playoffs! DeSoto looks like state champs on 2012. (over Allen, Trinity or Katy)

  39. As I have stated numerous time on this forum. We should all call in and flood the station with calls. That can't hurt, but it also will surely Pi-- them off. Go Mean Green --- Go North Texas Scrappyman1
