Congratulations to the team, students and administration for creating a major league crowd and outcome last night...it was thrilling for me, as I am a veteran of the old days at the old pit (men's gym) of the 60's. You created just as much excitement and atmosphere as the old days...thanks.22 points

It's a forum. OUR school just won a huge game on national TV in front of a huge home crowd which is what we've been clamoring for. Put it to rest for one evening and enjoy the win together (online)?20 points

I could still feel my heart pounding several minutes after the end. Luckily I had just watched that ESPN Bayer heart ad, so I grabbed an aspirin and dialed 9...1... just in case. Never had to hit the other 1!19 points

THATS WHY THEY CALL IT THE SUPER PIT! More of that. Hope our fans keep showing out (even through the adversity of losses). This is a good basketball league and we will face some losses Im sure. These dudes still deserve that kinda crowd every night. So tough! Let’s be tough for em too! Proud to be an Eagle!16 points

Enjoyed the game except for the way it ended. We cannot finish close games. Same thing happened to us against Wisconsin, Arizona St and Dayton. Anyway, I met a lot of very nice UNT fans. Thanks for a fun night. Keep winning and see y’all at Moody in a couple of weeks.15 points

Anyways, my 7 and 5 year old boys were wanting to finish the game before bed so we finished watching on my phone in their room. They were so happy North Texas won. This was a great win, especially after the Charlotte showing. Ross Hodge is the guy. We've seen incredible progress in this short season.15 points

The “North! Texas!” chant isn’t something you ask for. It’s an organic cheer that comes when the fans feel it in the moment. The moment was absolutely perfect tonight. I wish the gameday ops people understood that and stopped trying to push it on us (often at weird times in the game).14 points

So happy for the team and happy to see the large student turnout getting rewarded with a great game. Hopefully it will drive more attendance. This team deserves some big crowds. Awesome win.14 points

First you guys need to stop fighting aftwr such a big win. Take that shit outside. fantastic victory however we were like 6 of 16 from the FT line so it could have been a blowout. Buggs deserves the game ball.14 points

12pm on ESPN 2 Make sure you get a good breakfast, do some jumping jacks and order yourself a bloody mary for this one13 points

How clutch was that dude tonite? He hasn’t played a game for almost a months and lays in 4 biscuits? Huge for his confidence. Also his shooting opened up the drive game with Jason because SMU could not afford to help off him in the paint when he was hanging out down the baseline.13 points

Our crowd has gotten much better at getting involved at the right times over the past several years. It’s why having the students in there en masse is so critical. The crowd cues off of their energy. They basically “give permission” to the older alumni fans to get pumped up and participate. Get the students fired up, and there’s a couple of super passionate pockets of alumni fans around the Pit (everyone knows where they are) that will take the cue and get the rest of the folks around them riled up. Last nights “North Texas” chant was a perfect example of this organically happening. @SUMG & @FirefightnRick their crew fired up from the play on the floor and the students erupting started it at literally the perfect time. Our group on the other side of the Pit returned the chant, students picked up on that, jumped in and boom - best North Texas chant since the La Tech football game when we were undefeated a few years back. It was awesome. Those videos of it going around on social media show me we really can be a difference in the game as a fanbase. Now the trick is getting that kind of crowd engagement game in and game out. I truly don’t get how our fans can go to games like last night, be palpably buzzing after, talking about how badass everything was be so dense as to not figure out we can do that at LITERALLY every home game if we want to.12 points

I agree. Last night convinced me that we should be putting all available resources into basketball now. I am not proposing shutting down football but basketball is the future and deserves much more.12 points

Just quoting this to say people need to read this over and over again. Organic is the ONLY way to go with this chant. Video cued versions are pathetic and sad.12 points

last night was actually his 4th game knocking down 4 threes...third in a row. he was often feast or famine at UTSA...had 10 games of 4 or more threes, but also a couple bigger 0-fers. he's kinda our Hardaway, Jr. also...I think it speaks a lot to his character to go from being such a volume shooter, over 9 shots/game to settling into being more a role guy on this team.11 points

Edwards coming from Juco to the AAC is really hard to do. Yet, he still puts up numbers. Is he perfect? No Will he grow? I think so11 points

Completely forgot about FAU looming. Man, opportunity to beat SMU and a ranked team in one week is wild. Let’s get it done.11 points

Had to watch it on tv and that might be the first time I can remember ESPN announcing being that pumped and excited about anything UNT sports related. They were literally slobbering over us. It’s about damn time. Loved it. Wish I could’ve been there in person…missed what looked like an epic atmosphere, and it absolutely came through on TV.10 points

Well, not just last night but the last four years. This will not be a popular opinion.10 points

I may have jumped the gun on this one.... Got caught up with the energy I saw at the pit, both teams throwing haymakers from tip off, players stepping up in key moments, the refs almost handing the game away.....and also dam it feels good to beat SMU!!!10 points

Coach Hodge deserves a lot of credit for his leadership of the players. Several things stick out: 1. Keeping cool as a team when bad calls happen. (Maybe he could set an NBA player straight just south of us) 2. Allowing the players to play with passion, yet controlled passion . 3. Every court huddle is legit. A stick together culture 4. He loves his players. He opens his home and office to the players and staff. 5. Allow for celebration of hard work paying off and success.10 points

I love how even on a great night, we've had at least 3-4 snark fights break out on the board. And I say that as someone who participated! We kinda suck. LOL.10 points

Geez…some of y’all need to chill. What a great win! This team has the mental fortitude to compete with anyone in this conference. Despite the petty calls the refs were calling against us, the kids just kept playing and staying focused. That’s how you battle!!! Sign of a good team.10 points

The Mean Green Collective is only for basketball. I like football but basketball is our best chance for national recognition.9 points

This was incredibly impressive by our guys. They could have easily let the refs get into their heads and let the game get away but they didn’t. Kept on fighting and didn’t deter their aggressiveness on defense one bit. Very proud of them for that. That’s a quality of a championship team.9 points

Man after that brutal 3pt shooting performance @ Charlotte last weekend, having Buggs back tonight as our sniper was a welcome relief.9 points

We need football. What we don't need is our 3 million dollar budgeted sport out classing our 11 million dollar budgeted sport year after year after year after year after year... eventually common minds will come together and cut that 11 million dollars and give some to the sport that actually performs. To me, that "eventually" is now. It's not justifiable to blindly dump that money into a failing product yoy. And given the rules now in place, it never will be. Put the money into what will garner positive attention to the university. After all, sports is the front porch to the university, right? I promise you, the forward thinking universities in our peer group are already having these conversations. We can be proactive for once, or me reactive as per usual.9 points

Eight of nineteen from the charity stripe isn't gonna get it done - but it's also very out of character for us. The fact that we won despite that is super impressive.9 points
