UNT adds another; OU adding more Texas preps

06/11/2007

North Texas is up to six verbal pledges, and the latest might be the greatest.

Mart receiver Kenny Barrett, a Texas Top 300 receiver, pledged to the Mean Green over the weekend, his high school coach Rusty Nail confirmed. Barrett had three TDs in the state title win over Cisco and had over 600 yards receiving last year.

I LOVE the fact that we're getting several really tall receivers with speed. That just gives the QB more room to get the ball in a place that only the receiver can get it. Plus - This guy could still grow another couple of inches before he gets to NT.

Way to go Dodge! Now just hang on to them.

Congrats guys. I see a lot of similarity b/w UNT and Tech right now as it relates to fanbase excitement level. Are y'all concerned about losing these kids if a bigger school comes calling? We've already lost one and it blows.

As an objective (at least with regards to UNT) outsider, I fully expect y'all to challenge for the Sunbelt championship this year. Good luck.

Sure we can lose one or even several, but TD will probably hold on to most.

I can't begin to explain to you how refreshing it is to know we're at least going for these kids. Kids change their mind every year for programs across the country. At least North Texas is in the mix now. When was the last time NT got mentioned on texasfootball.com for picking up it's 6th early verbal?

Here's my wish:

available 5 star Garland DE

hey, one can dream, right?

I'm particularly excited about Troy Franklin. I love his video and it sounds like he's solid.

My wish list among those who show interest in NT according to rivals.

QB

Steven Darrow http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=64955 Looks like the kind of QB you could use in the spread.

WR

Blake Cantu http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=49053 Another SLC receiver with impressive skills. Seems to be leaning toward Oregon or Northwestern though.

Lanear Sampson http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=58289 Shows an offer from us and several BCS programs.

Forrest Rucker http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=62095 Size alone makes him intriguing.

OL

Cameron Kaufhold http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=58091 Offer from NT

Sam Schwartzstein http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=64354 Ditto. Plus he's a SLC kid.

DE

Jeremy Gray http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=62893 My #1 choice if we could have had anyone. Shows to have committed to Ok State but I'm still holding out hope. :P Good D-ends don't grow on trees.

ATH

Troy Stoudermire http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=57852 Good looking athlete with speed.

On a side note, Derek Tomlin and Kenny Barrett still don't show as commits.

emmitt, have you seen Darrow play? I haven't seem him, but he seems awfully small. Just curious as to why you chose him over others.
