  1. While the current championships end in April, the First Tech Challenge starts up again in the fall. They need volunteers for judging. This is for the team interview process which is just as important as their robot's performance in the ring. I participated in the judging in February and March. You don't have to be an engineer to be a judge. To learn more go to the First Inspires website to see what the kids were doing this year and stay tuned for the competition next school year. https://www.firstinspires.org/
  2. Loyola went to the final 4 this year. So maybe not an immediate result (going to the NCAA tournament) but definitely something to build on.
  3. Sorry if this is old news. Haven't checked in for a while. My in-law took me to the Texas A&M vs. LSU today. Johnny Jones is not the head coach there any more. Tony Benford is anassistant. Are our ex-coachs a feeder for LSU? Can't wait to get home and watch UNT men & women games.
  4. What happened? A few days ago UNT was in the news with two names they were considering. Did they both say no or are we waiting till after the bowl games? If those two names are still in the mix, a concern expressed earlier is that the recent head coaches have no "loyalty" to our program. Are we going to go through this dance again in 3-5 years when the new head coach is doing things for his benefit instead the program?
  5. Need to think about a top level hotel. Any team and fans going to the game in Denton stay somewhere else outside of Denton. This is a missed revenue opportunity for the city and community.
  6. Dino Babers Aren't we running into the same problem we had with the previous 3-4 coaches? What kind of commitment will he have to a program he has no connections? I realize there is no former UNT player in the coaching ranks but is Dino going to be another band aide for a few years?
  7. I have 2 Club level tickets and parking pass to give away. Contact me by text or phone 972/971-1574.
  8. Remember - We're on a budget. I don't thing we can beat ESPN's salary for Mac Brown.
  9. This is hard. We're on a budget We want someone who can recruit We want someone who will put together a great team We want someone dedicated to the program for the long haul We want someone who will not be swayed by Power 5 millions
  10. Johnny is still solid. It was like putting my arm around granite. If he still had eligibility he could show those players a few things.
  11. Hard to believe the original post for this thread was doom and gloom. Created this at work. Just basic Word document and added pictures. Manually Xing out the wins. Will replace ALCS with either KC or Houston emblem. If anyone wants a copy of this send me an email to gregoryksmith@msn.com and I will email it to you. Put your own Xs on there.
  12. Rick makes another trip around the sun. Hope you have a great day.
  13. McNulty may not be a very good QB but why would a coach play a player who can't perform? Any coach at any level is going to play their best players. McNulty plays because he is the best QB on the roster. Can't do anything about this season and this might be a little off topic but UNT needs a coach who can recruit. North Texas will pay a lot for it too. Other schools can't us the "bad facilities" excuse against us since we have Apogee and upgraded athletic training equipment. I don't know any names but there has to be a coach out there who can go to a recruit and convince him to play (and I mean PLAY) at UNT vs. sit on the bench at TU, OU, aTm, et al. THOSE are the recruits to target.
  14. If UNT is looking for their 3rd coach in 6 years the problem may well be the Athletic Director.
  15. This is disappointing. This means after 6 years we are looking for our 3rd coach. Can we get someone we can stick with for longer than 3 or 4 years? Was McCarney unable to recruit effectively? I know recruiting in Texas is tough when you have to compete with Texas, OU and now TCU, Baylor, aTm for recruits. Those schools will always get the top tier recruits because they are Texas, OU, et al but I would hope UNT could and should be better at getting the 3/2/1 star recruits.
  16. I really like the Coliseum but the seats are a tight fit for me. I'm a big guy - 6'7" and my shins are against the seat in front of me. Any way to expand the space a few inches would be greatly appreciated.
  17. I got my tickets earlier this week. I ordered them week before. I was getting worried and about to call them when they magically arrived from a really nice guy in a postal uniform.
  18. One complaint my wife has is she can't carry a purse. I hope she can carry a breathing machine she needs for asthma.
  19. A few years ago there were a lot of college laptop backpacks available but I guess I missed out. None to be found anywhere including the Barnes & Noble on campus.
  20. Arkansas just jumped to #25 in the nation. You can't be a slouch in the top 25.
  21. I thought there were residency restrictions on voter registration. If you are from out of state you have to live in Texas for so long before you are eligible to vote. If you live in Texas and moved (like all of the in-state students) you can change your voter registration to reflect the move. As for the political topic itself I am glad fracking is banned. When we have an area like here that for my lifetime has NEVER had earthquakes and then fracking starts and now places like Cleburne and (more recently) North Dallas are having earthquakes, I have a hard time of someone convincing me that A does not cause B. This week - 5 earthquakes in 2 days in North Dallas. Granted these aren't mega 6. or 7. devastating earthquakes but still Texas is not equipped to handle a lot of shaking. If I wanted to live with earthquakes I would live in California.
  22. I know companies like Targus and Victorinox Swiss Army made them a few years ago but I can not find anything online again. I am willing to go to a local store if anyone knows. Looking for a computer pack that will fit a 17" laptop. Thanks.
