  1. and Yeah same, but there's plenty of people who attended college before plate tectonics were a widely accepted theory and it definitely shows. Coffee and TV 5/2/2024 @ 11:18am Thanks for proving it by calling those with which you disagree "dorks". The Israeli's wouldn't be conducting their military operations if the Hamas led Palestinians hadn't taken action on October 7th. So, in the effort to engage in honest discussion, address the following: 1. Where were the protests when the actions of October 7th occurred? 2. Who is stating there shouldn't be peaceful protests? 3. Why don't the neighbors of Gaza, such as Egypt, accept Palestinian refugees? 4. I would challenge the claim that genocide against the Palestinians is taking place. I would argue that Israel's intent is to eradicate Hamas.

  4. Ok but UNT athletics should be out there handing out magnetic 2024 football schedules to students and promoting the softball team who is really good - I mean targeted engagement here right? #bringingitbacktosports

  5. Guess we will see if it is treated in the same manner as the thread I started. I have no problem with their choice to demonstrate, but don't set up shanty town on campus, no violence, no vandalism, no removal of the American flag and replaced with the Palestinian flag, no breaking into campus buildings and UNT telling them what they can do with their "demands". Also, I would like these demonstrators to explain their support of a terrorist led group that raped women, beheaded innocent people, placed babies in ovens and buried them alive and uses women, children and hospitals as shields against attacks. Last, any protestors that prove to be agitators or commit any of the acts above, and are students, to be expelled from UNT. Those that are not students and commit any of these acts should be arrested for trespassing.

  6. Add to that, green card cancelation and deportation for non citizens. Peaceful protest all day long will get respectful notice. Violence should not be tolerated. At all.

  7. I hate the portal and NIL too. But North Texas didn’t invent those things and the answer isn’t to quit on your alma mater. We just have to ride this out until whatever is next comes along. Looks like we will have an exciting team next season too.

  12. I think the “school” part of this isn’t terribly important to him and he will regret it in the long run. Edit: Here's the other issue with Buggs. He's a one trick pony. He doesn't have the handle to bring he ball up, he doesn't have the quickness to drive by someone or the ups to attack the rim. He's a three point shooter, period. Don't get me wrong, I liked Buggs, but he was feast or famine on offense, and although he hustled, he was a liability on defense.

  13. NCAA Finances: Revenue & Expenses by School - USA TODAY The reshaping of the entire system needs to be done ASAP. Let the NFL-lite and NBA-lite programs run their own teams. Hell, own them if they want. Pay players, trade them, sign them to long-term deals, etc. Let them be pros. The rest of us need to play traditional college sports. Scholarships + stipends. Let them be college kids. Give G5 schools a chance to be a national champion. You'll get a lot of us olds back with this plan. And olds have time and money.

  15. You are just looking for reasons to be pissy. He redshirted his freshman year and then played for us for 4 years after that starting 35 games in that span. He used his free covid year to go to one of the top 20 academic universities in the nation where was on the SEC academic honor roll. Great young man and I am proud to call him a North Texas alumnus.

  17. It is usually my one time a year to give back to UNT money wise since I don't live in Denton or the DFW area and only go back once a year for a football game. I always make my donation to the athletic center expansion. I wish they made a bigger initiative to get this built. I hate how it's not on the UNT Day of Giving page and you have to jump through some hoops to find it to donate to it. Living in Lubbock and seeing Tech build theirs is nice. I just wish we could have gotten ours built already. I think we have had this idea out there for a while and it hasn't happened. Maybe I need to go buy a lotto ticket tonight to make all my UNT dreams and goals come to life haha.

  26. Assuming 300 protesters were present (a very generous estimate from what I have seen and that assumes all present were actually students) that would account for .7% (rounded up) of the student population. If the demands are not met, then what?

  27. It may not be the happiest moments for parents, but you cannot dislike your kids because they leave home to start lucrative careers. It's the same with our players. They aren't leaving for a better family, they are advancing their financial careers. They competed for us, risked injury for us, and brought enormous recognition for our school. After everything, they are still part of our family and I'd welcome them back for every honor they deserve.

  28. We have to stop reacting defensively, and tearing down these guys that are taking advantage of the system afforded them. It's not their fault. These dudes aren't like Giovanni Vizza, and bailing/"transferering" when they are somewhat challenged by a teammate. Want to call someone names, or wish them ill? Look that way... to the guys quitting/walking away when the going gets tough.

  36. The next option is not what you want…to continue as a nomad that gets paid for OOC body bag games or play in a conference that gets no chance to ever win a title. Playing teams like the Power Teams in the B1G, SEC, most of the Big 12 and some of the ACC is not in the best interests of any G5 school anymore. The money is too much for them to ever let us fight fair.
