  1. TBT is a huge tournament where the winning team gets a cool $1million! If you watch the video montage at the end, it appears JJ & DJ might pull down the following dudes: Tony Mitchell Jordan Williams Shannon Shorter (I believe all 3 of these dudes are still playing professionally overseas). Thomas Bell III James Reese Zach Simmons Javion Hamlet That team would be friggin SCARY, and would make any game they're in a must-watch for any Mean Green Basketball fan!

  2. This will likely blow some liberals minds but Fox News has given Lawrence Jones his own weekend show (Cross Country) and he appears often in several of the other shows. Lawrence is a graduate of Garland High School and UNT Class of 2009.

  3. “North Texas is on the brink of greatness and is close to pushing through and getting eight to 10 wins and winning the conference. I want to be a part of that and play at the highest level.” – Mazin Richards

  4. Every year D2 and FCS players are drafted and North Texas players are passed over. We complain. We bring in D2 and FCS players. We complain. I am not sure that bringing in guys from the lower levels is the best or my preferred strategy but we bring in JUCO guys every year and I don’t see complaints. Given our historical failure rate with guys from P5 schools, I am not so sure I am opposed to this strategy, as long as they are proven starters at their level. Seems to me at the least they could be quality depth and we need that at several positions especially on the lines.

  5. Both have been playing really well in Bristol. Miller just had a huge game to get them to the semi-finals. Their playoff uses aggregate scoring, so they had to win by more than 12 in this game to advance. http://www.bbl.org.uk/flyers-progress-in-post-season-classic/

  6. I think July 1 2023 was our goal all along for joining the American. Good to see that is the likely date! The quicker we can get away from Judy the better

  7. It says if things fall in line we should be in the AAC in July 2023. Also, La Tech will be playing the likes of Sam Houston, Jacksonville State and probably Eastern Kentucky and Tarleton State. Good luck with that. Better start schmoozing the Fun Belt.

  8. Don't worry SL has the ability to coach up his players.............🤥

  9. Thanks for explaining. I saw this on Twitter and when they started going crazy I was like what am I missing because they were winning by 10.

  10. We have fans here that have been Mean Green die hards for longer than I've been alive (40+ years). That's a ton of awful seasons to endure. We can have discussions about expectations and all, but let's recognize that some of us are here because we are Mean Green family, even if we are not always Mean Green good.

  11. I think Hutchins was rotating in with huddle 2. But Rausaw, LeBlanc, and Tashoyn Johnson all have played and all but Rausaw have started. Then Fehi Vailea, not sure what to expect there but he looks the part. Plus it sounds like JUCO signee Khagen Roach will be an interior guy as well. Had all 3 of these guys stayed I would have argued that we have too many scholarship d tackles, especially considering none are going to be true freshmen. It truthfully would have been an over allocation. Defensive end and EDGE (Devil) is much more concerning from a depth standpoint to me. If we swap two 4th huddle DTs and a 3rd huddle DT for a couple solid EDGE players that would be a really prudent trade off, just strictly speaking from a roster construction standpoint. I wish the kids themselves nothing but the best. The college football numbers game has never been more ruthless.

  12. Rod Brown had as many TFLs and Sacks in 8 games as a true freshman last season than Abbe did in 14 games as a senior.

  14. Ha!! Good luck getting ULM or ULL to support La Tech going anywhere near the SBC. They shot off their own feet with their attitude against their in-state brethren.

  15. Wren kept Benford around for the last year of his contract and it was a disaster. Football is heading the same direction. Only player's parents are excited about next season. Many think the cost of the buyout or a donor relationship is the reason SL is back. Whatever, it's time for Wren to start looking for our football McCasland.

  18. If he can just be as good as Kameron Hill was last year then that’ll be huge for the defense.

  19. Sure, but they played the same position. Brown was doing what he did while Novil was on the sidelines. I’ll take Sophomore Rod Brown over Senior Richard Abbe, which was my point of you saying we don’t have an Abbe on this roster.

  22. This is true of every head coach of just about every sport.

  23. Thanks for your responses Frankly, I don't give a fig whether Littrell is the coach or someone else; I am nether a fan of Littrell or anywhere close to wishing the team does bad to get rid of him. Littrell is here next year and I hope he is very successful, and I will trust that Baker will make the right decision no matter what happens next season. As far as a predetermined win and loss total as the primary decision point, everyone knows the record can be misleading. If NT loses the first 5 and wins the next 7 or 8 (seem familiar) then that is an extension. There are a lot of factors other than record that will play into Baker's decision. Finances, availability of other coaches, fan support, assumption that Littrell wants to stay, integrity of program, etc. are other factors.

  24. With this schedule it would need to be 9+ and win a bowl
    2 points
  25. Absolutely. @GrandGreen, can you define "a great season", and "a horrible season"? Like, give me some records for each, because there are some here that are thrilled with 7 wins, and would consider that "a great season". If that's the case, for me, I'll take the former. 7 wins, or "bowl eligible" cannot be the standard around here anymore. Of course, I don't want any more 1-win, Dodge-like seasons either. So, if that's the "horrible season" it takes to get rid of him early, I dunno if I want that for our guys either. If he somehow figures it out and comes up with 9-10+ wins and a West Division championship again like he had in 2017, I'll bring the pen for him to sign with.

  26. Not an issue one with anyone who questioned the hire. MY opinion though is if you are going to blames the man for everything that does not go right, be willing to also credit him for the positives.

  27. Ok, answer a hypothetical Would you rather NT has a horrible season and a coaching change then occurs or, NT has a great season and Littrell gets a contract extension

  28. Serious question: Why are you here then? Seems odd to hang around the fan forum of a team you don’t support.* In the off season no less. * SMU fans notwithstanding

  31. He has a quick step off the ball and was relentless in pursuing the ball. Some of the OTs he went up against had terrible footwork. I'm interested to see how he does against FBS OL.

  32. Dropping truth bombs like this is often frowned upon at this establishment. Go back to drinking a vodka & Lime green Kool Aid and back away from the computer and everything will be alright.

  33. So strange. I mean, VERY strange. D1-FCS scholarships (130 teams X 63 scholarships) = 8,190 scholarships available. D1-FBS scholarships (130 schools X 85 scholarships) = 11,050 scholarships available. Total D1 football scholarships = 19,240 scholarships available. D1 Basketball scholarships = 358 schools X 13 scholarships = 4,654 scholarships available. Can you really not see the difference between getting a D2 football player (after going through over 19,000 D1 players) VS a D2 basketball player? I hope like heck Mr. Richards is the real deal and is ready to contribute at the Devil spot at this level.

  34. It’s almost as if the basketball coach is really highly thought of and the football coach is considered a bump on a log…

  35. My guess he is leaving because he didn't get to play enough for the lame duck HC. As an aside, do you ever tire of posting your disapproval and dissatisfaction of Littrell returning. Littrell isn't going anywhere in the off season, and his future with NT and football depends on the team's performance in the fall.

  36. The FCS transfers don't bother me a bit. There are plenty of guys playing FCS that can excel at this level. There were 18 FCS players that were just drafted.

  37. Lol I don't think you know how this works. The Supreme Court ruled that the NCAA was violating anti-trust laws by restricting athlete compensation. The NCAA, like you, thinks this is a slippery slope and harmful to amateurism.

  38. Right. Make no mistake, interior DL is very talented w/Brown & Jackson. Hope we have enough behind them.

  40. I suspect some of you are too young to remember when the Olympics went from being a truly amateur endeavor to professional. This happened in 1986 and there were similar cries of outrage. Of course now, no one gives this a second thought. The same will happen with college athletics. Just as the amateur athletes were left behind in 1986, many universities will be left behind as the professionalism of college athletics takes hold. In twenty years or so, no one will give this a second thought as well.

  41. NIL has deadened my love for college athletics. I didn't think that would be possible, but I don't care nearly as much as I did a few years ago because of the nonstop transfers and the money...it's no longer the same.
