At this point, let me put on my tinfoil hat. There is no reason a sub .500 coach with an 0-5 bowl record and atrocious record against teams with a winning record should still have a job after 6 years at any program in the country.12 points

Well, we saw from the home crowds this year and our “away” crowds at SMU and Frisco Bowl #2 that that is already well underway.12 points

There won’t be an announcement if Seth is staying. It’ll just happen.12 points

I’ll take, “things in 2018 you thought you’d never hear” for $2,000, Alex.10 points

I been reassured by those that should know that money is not a problem. My logic says that 6 years of a head coach not progressing is enough. My logic also says that we are in a unique situation this year to get a new coach established for a year before we enter the AAC. My logic is not to make excuses for poor results. My logic is to expect better than the bullshit of the past. My logic is to get a coach more concerned about a winning North Texas football team than his golf game.9 points

Let's look at some of his record: First Three Years Conference Vs P5 Non-P5 Home Road/N Bowls 23-17 15-10 1-2 19-15 14-4 9-13 0-3 Last Three Years 14-21 11-12 0-2 11-19 9-9 5-12 0-2 Total 37-38 26-22 1-4 30-34 23-13 14-25 0-5 Bowls We have been beaten in all five bowls by an average of 20.1 points Two winning seasons in six. (and that was four and five years ago) Some people don't adapt well to being a head coach. Some very good coordinators do not make great head coaches. i.e. Phil Bennett8 points

While I do believe we have the money for a buyout and hope and pray we have a new coach next season (while expecting to see Littrell , because we are still UNT). One has to think his friendship with both Wren and the Lovelaces has a lot to do with him still being here I mean come on, they did a beyond the green segment about how him and Dillon grew up together and how they've been tight for 30+ years. You're really expecting our biggest donor to pony up the cash to fire their best friend? Looking back on it, makes me wonder if RV/Smatresk were strongarmed into hiring Littrell because of his relationship with the Lovelaces and their promise to throw a lot of money at the program. These may be entirely unbased conspiracy theories but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some truth to it7 points

I am not accepting jacksh*t, if Seth is still here next season it proves UNT is not serious at all about football. I will not be renewing my season tickets.7 points
-
Sorry to be the messenger of bad news, but it looks like you won’t be renewing your tickets. Nothing is going to change. We will be middle of the road again next year in C-USA. Our defense will keep us in a few games. Until we get competent QB play, this team will be average at best.6 points

Plus, there is a small chance the quarterback coach is an exciting hire. I’m hopeful but have my doubts.6 points
-
Keeping him another year is directly on Wren. This is the least excited I'll have been going into a season in a long time6 points
-
The reason Benford was not fired is that we did not have the money to buy him out. On another note,Wren has done a great jog bringing in a hand full of major donators like Jim McNatt, who told me that he had not stepped foot on the UNT campus since his graduation in the mid 60's until Baker got him involved. However, the data I saw a few years ago show us last in the number of donors in D1 programs in Texas. While its great to land a few whales we need a lot more fish contributing .5 points

Similar to SMU, I doubt TCU wants any part of playing us right now.5 points

The only thing I would correct you on is that his sister works for UNT instead of goes to UNT. https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/mackenzie-morris/5405 points

Would be nice for something to happen to add some off-season excitement. If not I guess we're in for a lot of uniform talk.5 points

That is actually a really cool idea, but there is no scenario in which that SMU helmet would enter my home.4 points

Didn't want JJ whipping their ass after they saw what happened to Florida.4 points

I just saw a picture of him with a bunch of other past recruits on GMG and started wondering how he is doing now. Looks like he is buried on the Arkansas depth chart. As a matter of fact, they don't project him cracking the two deep next year either. The backup QB is a RFr like he is and the starter is a RSo so I doubt if he ever sees any playing time there. I wonder if he ever thinks "I should have stuck with my commitment to North Texas at least I know I would have a chance to play." Haha. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Okay. Yeah I am being petty now.4 points

As a famous graduate of the UNT psychology department is fond of saying "SO, how's that working out for you?"4 points
-
It is exactly this. Our donors are being fleeced for donations to upgrading facilities and we have another massive one with the Athletic Center in progress. Those same donors are not happy about mediocre football but at the same time are being asked for millions to go towards these upgrades that... only strengthen the program's ability to recruit better talent. We can't offset these requests with revenue from football games (absence of attendance) so hence the conundrum. *Edit Don't listen to King. I know more than he does 😉4 points

So, does that mean we’ll see you on here after Saturday’s game against Rice?3 points
-
You do realize that a bonus for making a bowl game is a pretty common clause in coaching contracts.3 points
-
We should see if we can play TCU on 30 December. They have not played since 21 December and their next game is 3 January. It would get them to 30 games and get us to 28 if the Rice game happens. You don't have to make serious travel arrangements since the teams are close enough. It would be a good challenge for both teams before opening conference play.3 points

I enjoyed listening to his summaries and opinions during games. I don't ever remember anyone in the industry taking great exception to any of his opinions. I've never heard anything negative about his family life. I assume that his wife and sons loved him. And if that is so, then he certainly meets my criterion for a great man.3 points

Yea what a mess. UCLA was at Sea World having a good time but suddenly at gametime they have too much covid. I’ll be glad when we go back to the pre-Covid way of “if you don’t field a team, you forfeit and get the L”.3 points

As much as I would like to, I cannot disagree, However, the AD must also be willing to accept a very unmotivated fanbase. You can't keep putting teams with losing records on the field and expect people to be happy. So yes, I accept it, and I hope Seth turns the corner after 6 years, but people need to accept that just because you don't like the idea of Seth staying does not mean you can't support and be hopeful for your school.3 points

Darden was announced days or weeks before the bowl game and we were all happy for the guy since he was our best shot at a draft pick in over a decade. The Torrey bomb dropped an hour or two before kickoff with the disclaimer “unspecified reasons”.3 points

So I reached out to a friend that coaches volleyball, along with his wife, on the collegiate level to get his take on this hire. I felt like many of you as to not being overly excited about the hire. His response was: "I like this hire! Strong ties to Texas which I think helps. Also was JUCO and I've seen that translate well in the training aspect. If she can make a big print on DFW recruiting they should be good. Looks like the kid that entered the portal is staying to, which is big." The kid staying is Rhett Robinson. This friend was pretty critical of Palileo in the past stating that people had reached out to him about really good players from the area that were interested in playing at North Texas and he never returned a call, email, text, etc. Anyway, take it how you want, but I also realize I scratched my head a little at the hiring of McCasland and Delong.3 points

Well our last qb coach was making $100,000. I also just added to supplement you could pay him with camps.2 points

Thinking this is a “recruiting” hire. She should have incredible inroads here in Texas. Now, we’ve seen the recruiting hire bomb here before due to incredibly dumb in-game mgmt with those great recruits.2 points

Torrey has been a great student athlete. I wish him the best at pro day and hope he becomes the next great UNT back in the NFL.2 points

We needed a better opponent anyway. The women's team found a game with Baylor. Time for the men to see who is available to play in the covid portal.2 points

Littrell as head coach is the adversity. He couldn't win a bowl game if his job counted on it2 points
