  1. Mason Fine gettin the love. Still love seeing these for our QB1. This is their ranking of the top 50 PLAYERS (not qb’s) in the country for next season.

  2. Does seem to look better. But, what will look a whole lot better is a new arena controlled by athletics that is up to date inside and out. Got to say...athletic facilities are really being upgraded! That is, indeed, a very good thing.

  3. The national media including NBC’s Robin Roberts on GMA reported on it and gave Smollett an exclusive in-studio interview about it because of his fame.....and his attempt to tie Trump to it. And if “He and only he” is to blame then don’t mention “mental illness” and some psycho hyped up on Mexican Tramadol threatening to kill the world....in the same discussion as a popular narcissist celebrity with an obvious political agenda.. As for your surge in “actual factual hate crimes”,...here’s three recent of dozens of example of videos and a report of “actual factual” violence that stems directly/indirectly from the out of control leftist Trump-Is-Evil derangement that the media has certainly helped perpetuate. 10. OK, I know this isn't technically "Football", but the Cheer and Dance Teams both support football in a big way at UNT, so why not the football forum???? For this year's event, we have decided to try KICKBALL as a replacement for our basketball game. Why you ask? Well, basketball seemed to have started to "run its course", and frankly a few folks stopped participating and a few folks started to turn our friendly game into something akin to "hack attack". Plus, it was the general consensus that we needed to find a fun event that could broaden our base of participants...KICKBALL is it. WE are looking at a mid-April date (April 13th comes to mind but has not been approved as yet) as the softball team is out of town and the UNT Softball complex might...might...be available to us on the 13th. Much to be "approved" in that regard, but wanted to get the conversation started about this year's event... This will be our 9th year, and our second including the UNT Dancers, and we hope it will be our best ever! So, as usual, we need your help in making it a success for some hard-working student-athletes., WE need: 1) Players (min age 13 and open to male and female players of course), 2) Silent Auction Donations, 3) Sponsors - This year we have available Gold sponsorships at the $500 level - 2 available, Silver Sponsorships at the $300 level - 6 available and Bronze Sponsorships at the $100 level - 12 available.' 4) Helpers for set-up, game-day management, clean-up, etc. and 5) Umpires - 3 would be great. So, think about your schedule for mid-April (fingers crossed) and what you might be willing to do in support of the UNT Cheer and Dance teams. I really do think this year's event could be our best and most fun event ever. OK, there is your head's up. More to come as the planning develops.

  16. I think the group of people that thought we were actually elite or one of the best 25 teams in the country was very small. We did, however have a chance to boost our profile by getting into the top 25 based on a good record even against weak competition. So from that perspective it was a wasted opportunity. Other than that this team seems to be pretty much what the majority thought it was, especially when the injuries happened. An average CUSA team when the full resume is taken into account.

  17. One psychopath’s story has nothing to do with the other. What should be debated that many want to ignore is the deranged one-sided national press/media that so wanted Smollett’s story to be true that in their haste to convict President Trump of anything led to nation wide hysteria from the beginning when the story first broke. They the media are the true culprits in this as they have been in similar cases, that do the most harm to real victims of crime and hatred. Rick

  21. The Daily these days seems to try very hard to show UNT in a bad light every chance it gets. And, they wonder why they have a bit of "funding" issue. And, good grief, who proofreads these articles before they are printed? They might want to rename the paper "The Daily Muliti-Typo".

  22. Rice will probably never be able to be Cusa’s version of Duke or Stanford, Duke makes huge exceptions for their SA’s. Stanford is Stanford. You can’t make it pro, you probably get cherry picked by an alum in the technology sector. Let’s say they can be cusa’s Baylor, but it will be closer to our Vanderbilt. Lol I would rank us 1, NOW, because of our location, facilities, and current administration. Everyone is right that we are in a very short attention span society now. No recruits (on average) care about anything that schools have done since before they were in 9th grade. Controversial founder aside, ODU should be #2 because they have by far the most potential. $$$$$$$$$

  24. Disagree/ This team is not what I thought it was. They are a flat bad team now that has no idea what to do on offense and are lucky to score a point a minute. The injuries are a contributor but the complete meltdown to the mess we get to watch now is on the coaches.

  26. It is worth noting that some teams are just a matchup nightmare for us. I'm not confident about us beating anyone at this point, but I do think that we match up better with Marshall than FAU, even though Marshall is probably the better team of the two.

  27. You can analyze every angle, but based on how we finished last year, the play of Smart has been a killer. If he would just post !/2 his stats how many more games do we win? We don't hit from the perimeter , we are done. No size and really no power or strength.

  30. I think the biggest issues in Mccasland building the program have been recruiting and over-estimating players we have. Much like Littrell’s first few recruiting cycles, Mccasland has just not been winning head to head recruiting battles against noteworthy schools. And he thought our roster was set and deep enough to take a guy in Shakeem Alcindor who no one else wanted and who put up pedestrian stats at a prep school that played very questionable competition. And at the beginning of the year he thought we had quality enough depth to be able to redshirt Mohamed and Wise when in reality his depth was made up of guys who have proven to be well below average CUSA level players in guys like J Simmons, Arikawe, and Draper.

  31. If this were the case then how were we so good and sharp in the 36th-40th games of the season last year? Also, we haven’t been good offensively all year. Early in the year we struggled to get 68 points against a now 5-24 UMES team, then followed that up with a game where Maine, also now 5-24, took us to overtime as we scored just 60 points and only 25 in the second half, then couldn’t separate against St Peter’s, who is now 8-20, as we beat them by just 9 points. Then our next home game we needed a furious come back just to reach 63 points to beat UTA, now 14-15. The issue to me is talent. Mccasland has done a good job winning games early on with average talent but as the season goes on teams are able to exploit our lack of talent and glaring player deficiencies. Plus the schedules have gotten harder in these cases as well. I think this was more true last season and in Grant’s year at Arkansas State than this season. I think we had the talent at the top of our lineup, but Duffy and Smart have looked nothing like they did in the CBI run and we used too many scholarships on guys who can’t make up for those guys not being as good.

  32. All great and dandy...but might as well move the CUSA tournament, because fans aren't coming to watch them shit the bed in the 1st round. And the athletic department can stop with all the 'first time since fill in the blank with irrelevant stat compared to arbitrary year." It's not fooling anyone. We are squarely a middling CUSA team, at best. It doesn't matter that we beat 10 schools of the deaf. Schedules and results are public information. They know that, right? Football and basketball are running on such parallel tracks it's eerie.

  33. Product is far from were we want it to be, but there is no denying the improvement from the Benford era. Yes, the argument is anyone could be better than Benford, but it takes time to rebuilt a team from that disaster. I think what happens with McCasland's intensely coached teams, are they just wear down both physically and mentally as the season comes to an end. Obviously the time, that the team should be peaking. Hopefully they can regroup before the tournament.

  39. If I'm a head coach I look at recruiting, school administration, facilities, and salary for me and my staff. Consistency and winning tradition only goes so far. It's a what-have-you-done-lately that matters to recruits. FAU has no tradition and no fan support. La Tech is in the middle of no where. So Miss can't pay their coaches. Marshall has to rely on questionable "students" to compete. The top three jobs are probably us, La Tech, and Marshall. Honestly, if all CUSA teams were trying to hire the same head coach, who would that coach pick? Right now it would be very difficult for that coach to pass on North Texas.
