  1. I am being told he will enroll in summer school starting in a few weeks and will try to become eligible the second half of the season

  2. Wow, wonder if we will see the player's names removed from the backs of jerseys? Must have been why it took so long to get a TMitch jersey. As always, RV two steps ahead of everyone else.

  5. Corporate sponsorship opportunity here y'all. Get someone to buy all those seats and make the tickets a give-away promo thing. Show up at the business to claim the tix. Then at every game the company also provides shirts for those 240. All the people on TV (since the cameras face the visiting bench) will all look the same (green). The Peterbilt Honk Zone The Jostens Jostlers The Purell Hand Sanitizer After-game High-Five Central The Rudy's BBQ Ramble Rousers The Academy Sports and Outdoors something somthings (fans can yell at the other team that Academy carries even less of their team's crap than they do UNT stuff.) The Acme Brick Wall of Profanity endless possibilities...

  6. I must say Benford is a recruiter, he might just get it going after all. He has not gotten off to the best start and we all loved JJ. I think this is a make or break year. Hopefully make! Go Eagles!!!!!!!!

  12. Great pick up for North Texas. Been following this kid since high school, if his off the court stuff is taken care of this is huge. J-Mych is good. Only went to ATM because his dad became a coach. Which could be a bad thing, considering his dad was his HS coach as well.

  16. Probably about 15,000, I'd assume. If not, this is the scenario I envision: "Here, take my money!" "No! Get away from us with that filthy cash!" "But I'm a UNT grad!" "Exactly! We don't know what to do when our own graduates try to give us money! Now leave before we call the fuzz!" Even if you meant "How many of the 240" I'd think the answer would still be "as many as you like" unless they want to start explaining why they're turning down money, a la the simulacrum depicted above.

  19. I work for a mobile app developer in Austin and have been trying to reach out to our athletic dept. about creating a mobile app for NT athletics. Attendance is becoming a big concern not only for our university, but for power 5 schools as well. Pac 12 is about to release an app for every one of the affiliated school to help engage fans at stadiums. CUSA and North Texas should be jumping on this bandwagon as well.

  21. He makes a very good point that we all know. As many questions as our QB spot has, having arguably one of the best lines in the nation will do us just fine in developing and improving on offense. I think we can match last season's record if not improve on it. As long as the defense can at least somewhat match the production of last year. Pass defense will be a plus now we just need the front seven to go with it

  22. Assuming Reese cannot start the season I would go with Eaglin, Taylor, Williams, Voss, and Flanningan for now (Flannigan is a gamble though)

  23. Including this transfer, can you give me a starting 5 right now? I'm confused as to who we still have as well.

  24. Serious question as I stopped following the basketball team awhile ago. Do we have any bigs other than Voss?

  25. Just think how easy if will be to label this kid as a locker room cancer next season. Win/Win for Benford and RV.

  26. Great catch. Now we really need to find a big man. I know we are full on scholarships but maybe somebody like Harris will want to stay one more year at juco and we can land a solid big man. Our guard play is going to be fantastic when this young man touches the floor. Believe that!

  28. You don't run the QB when you only have one. That has been the case the last couple of years (and DT was slow anyway). I think you will see more of the QB running this year. It seems that we have 2 QB's of somewhat equal ability, so if one goes down we still have another. And, remember when McCarney came here he said he didn't want a QB that was a statue. DT was close to that. You can see by the QB's they have recruited that a more mobile QB is preferred. I look for more read option this year.

  29. You're a NT alum/fan and you have to ask this question?............. .............. My friend, I see this as a golden opportunity to (in the words of Crosby-Stills-Nash & Young) "let your freak flag fly"!!!! And I agree with the posters above. This level of Whorn fan is not going to hassle you......just needle you. The "in-your-face-blithering idiot-whorn fans" are the t-shirt fans sitting in the end-zone who never attended Texas.

  30. Almost half their roster leaves after this season. Don't look past Coker leveraging this all-eggs-in-one-basket season to try get a better job and leave the massive rebuild to someone else. Look at what La Tech had to go through last year with a 2012 senior bubble not nearly that big.

  33. Surprised you left Riley Dodge off your list. I think McNulty will be the starter - and I'm good with that. It seems like people are skeptical of him, and I understand there's always skepticism when counting on someone to do something they haven't done before, but here's why I think McNulty will do well at North Texas: 1) Mac's system is built on controlling the clock and avoiding turnovers. Our QB doesn't need to launch it 40 yards because that increases the chance of a turnover and reduces the amount of time we control on a drive. Our QB needs to be a reliable bus driver who makes good decisions - McNulty can do that. 2) McNulty has been learning from Canales for 3 years now. Chico is really good at coaching QBs. I trust McNulty's technique and physical abilities are in good shape. 3) McNulty has been in the system with the same playbook for three years - he should know it inside and out. 4) McNulty has some game time experience with the team and has been in hostile environments. There will still be a learning curve in terms of dealing with pressure but I think it will be a shorter learning curve than most expect. 5) McNulty's running abilities should open up the run and pass game by holding defenses accountable. All in all, when you pair McNulty with a solid OL, a power run game, a pretty reliable receiving corps, and the option to run, I think we will see a much more efficient offense this year than we saw last (and we'll need it...especially if our defense and special teams can't put up the points like they did last year). On a side note - I love the smash mouth football that McCarney has implemented here. It's not always the sexiest thing to watch play after play, but it sure is fun in the second half when the opposing defenses are worn out and we bump up the tempo.

  34. If UTSA becomes a perennial top 25 program, that's good for us.The better our conference mates do, the better for us. We just need to keep doing what we're doing and join them as a top 25 program. Think about it, if La Tech and USM return to form, Marshall stays good, and we and UTSA keep improving, CUSA could be a heck of a conference. If UTSA does well and ends up leaving us behind for the Big XII, that would be bad for us, but I don't see that happening.

  35. I have the win now at all costs (as long as it doesn't get us on probation) mentality. This program is at a crossroads. We need to win now to prove that magical 2013 season wasn't a fluke. If we have a couple poor seasons I'm afraid we'll revert back to the UNT of the mid-to-late 2000's.

  36. Whats your level of determining successful? He won a national championship, was a runner up for the heisman, and won numerous other awards that our qbs cant even get on the preseason watch list for. In the NFL he won a rookie of the year award, he went 31-19 as a starter with poor mechanics, and then he fizzled out. If any of our 3 active NFL players who have been in the league for more than 1 year could do anything close to that we would build a damn statue in front of Apogee for them. Regardless, this thread isn't about VInce. I just want us to make a play at Robbie.

  40. Don't kid yourself. There is recruiting that goes on for Walk on players. We may have some built in advantages for certain players, but disadvantages for others. Have to count the good luck along with the bad (injuries, leave program, etc...)

  41. Where do you think this stands in, say, a scale of 1 to Benford?
    1 point
  42. Neither am I. I messaged you so you know who I am. But to be clear, you retaliate against critical people, but don't expect the same in return when you are critical? This coaching staff has proven their ability to recruit, but they are chasing a different caliber of player this year so results may not be as quick. How nany times has UT offered a player after us? How many recruiting battles have we won over the likes of Kansas State and Oregon State? Have a little patience and let's see who signs on the dotted line come signing day. Being hyper-critical of our staff before then is nothing but premature speculation. Sam, welcome to Denton and our ever dysfunctional family.
