Coached him as a freshman. He's a very large athletic young man.

We should have been offering this caliber of kid all offseason, why is it we target ungettables all offseason and wait until now to offer kids within reach? Is there something i'm missing?

Great point. I'm all for leaving spots for guys at the end like Dillman, Roderick Young, Caleb Chumley, and Darrien McNair, but that doesn't mean just don't recruit at all. Nothing wrong with getting good players realistically within reach early. It'll be interesting to see how this experiment turns out.

It's like we're trying to become the ultimate scavengers. Wait and hawk on kids who slip through the crack. IF (BIG If), we could have that be our specialty and really execute that plan i could see the benefits. We have some athletic talent at levels we haven't had in awhile, but it seems awfully dangerous to go in with a bare cupboard and hope the situation works out in the end. The only analogy I could see that fits this is that we are swinging for the fences trying to anchor a class on a big/notable pick up. But the best baseball teams i ever played on were playing small ball: hitting consistently and getting on base.

I expect this to be a smaller class compared to the last couple.  Plus, I expect to see the staff continue to spend a lot of time on JUCOs and transfers based on the number in our 2 deep.  Can't say I blame them.

If they can get 10-12 quality HS and 7-8 JUCO/xfers that will leave a few spots for late signees.  If the late signees don't materialize then they can pursue mid term enrollees.

As many have pointed out, we have been signing too many HS recruits that don't have a lot of other offers, which has resulted in way too many that can't seem to crack the 2 deep.
