Which true freshmen do you see making an impact this season?

Impact? Maybe Goree, Fonzale Davis and Trevor Moore. But, I believe that several more will contribute. Ivery is too good to not find a place to make his presence felt. It may be largely on special teams this year but he looks to have a lot of Dunbar and Chancellor skills. Maybe Rutherford could be a goal line TD specialist. There's a much greater learning curve on the defensive side but I believe that Tauaalo and Garner could play and make their presence felt.

Brelan's freshman year, he didn't make much of an impact at WR. . . . But he was huge as a KR.

...and he was relatively unknown. He was signed as a package deal with Byrd who was the high profile signee of the two. So you just can't tell which player will come to fall camp and catch on fire.

I don't get why this is always said. How was Byrd the higher profile of the two? Neither had any other offers. Package deal implies that we basically had to offer Brelan to get Byrd.

It's irrelevant though. And both ended up being great players from us. I just don't think calling them a package deal is accurate.

Were you around when they were signed? I seem to recall that Byrd had other options besides us, and that of the two he was the most known. I never heard of Chancellor before he set foot on campus with his high school team mate.

The local newspaper when they signed said they were considering other schools, but nothing about them offering. Their recruiting profiles show no other offers.

Most high school highlight videos of WRs are guys running free 5 yards from the nearest defender when they make the long touchdown catch.

What struck me about Goree's video was the ability to catch the ball in traffic. If that translates to the next level, I think you see Goree claim the starting outside receiver position and be a solid contributor.

If that translates to the next level...

I watched him in the state championship game and I agree. He can catch in traffic as well as in the open.

Yes, and I don't recall either of them being the "Big Catch" at the time. Thank goodness that star system is so accurate.

I think Tauaalo will slowly work his way into the DL rotation & by season's end will be a starter. Kid just looks like a beast on film.

Big Linemen on high school film always look like beast because they going against kids 40 or 50 pounds lighter than them, AND D1 Olinemen tend to be MUCH nastier. I give him a year.
