So, the source of the rivalry with mtsu comes from them claiming a share of the sunbelt title in 2001 when we were clearly the outright conference winner. Right? Just wanted to make sure I had my facts straight.

I am being a nerd and watching the ecu at mtsu game that I DVRed from last week and saw a list of sun belt titles they have claimed that included 2001 and 2006.

Please feel free to correct me or expand on this... Think I heard George say on the ticket that mtsu got rings made and everything.... Even chuckled a bit on the air about it.

We each had one conference loss. But because their loss was to us, we represented the Sunbelt. They had a much better overall record that year, something like 7 or 8 wins. Our record that year was 5-6 going into the bowl game (we had to have special dispensation to go).....5-7 after the game. Their angst was that they believed that they would have been a much better representative of the conference than us. But in overall record and in the uni's they wore.

That's a big part of it. I also never liked them after one of their players teed off on Jamel Branch on two punt returns in the game (think he got ejected), not sure Branch was the same player after that...

Never mind all that from last decade, but today we have our work cut out for us more than I think most seem to be admitting.

Already said this before, but they have a speed merchant of a running back who can score anytime he touches the ball and when

their QB is on.... .he is flat on.

This will be a close game today, folks. I would be happy with a 1 point win if we win.

      The separation now from P4 to G5 is informal. The formal relegation of G5 to some lower tier is what I am against. We have played top level football schools in all of our football history, just not as conference members usually. Our first game ever was against TCU. The lineup you mention about would be great. But Smut, TCU, Baylor, and Houston have visions of staying in the top "power" tier or whatever fake name they assign it.

      All of this should happen, ASAP. The mistake you make about comparing 1-aa to G5s today is not true. We gave up in 1982 while the SWC and Big Eight were giants in the CFB world. Between 1981-1995, The SWC/Big Eight had Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, SMU, Texas, Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Houston have teams that would finish in the Top Ten. Meanwhile, in Denton, we were playing conference games against something called Northeast Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, McNeese State, and Nicholls State. Literally, whatever little support we had got nuked. Now today, playing schools in the same level of play like SMU, TCU, Baylor, Tulane, Tulsa, Houston, Rice, UTSA, UTEP, and Texas State would bring a lot more eyeballs to North Texas than anything we have ever seen in Denton. And then adding in the idea that we can legitimately play for a title in football, you'll get more interest tan UNT has ever had. If you ever think we should be playing Texas, A&M, OU, etc...in equal standing, you'll be sorely disappointing. Its just not gonna happen. EVER.

      Her previous game.....against Charlotte was a dandy. 6 innings of 1 run ball. Skylar came in, in relief and lost the game in the 7th....2-1. So Mackenzie has pitched well.....very recently.
