Beyond the Green debuts next Friday on Fox Sports Southwest

It's a shame that a talent like Orr will be overlooked because of the school he plays for. I don't have any doubt in my mind that he will work his way onto a pro team like Dunbar and Robertson.

B.S. NFL teams find talent everywhere. Jerry Rice, Larry Allen, Joe Flaco, etc... types are found every year at schools from lesser known conferences.

To 7Travis5's above post, these former North Texas players had no problems being found by the NFL. (That's OK...you are a newbie' here).

I am not sure any SWC school could have topped our NFL draft choices during the the late 60's and eaven early 70's of North Texas Mean Green football era which included Joe Greene (#1 NFL draftee), Cedrick Hardwick (#1 NFL draftee), Steve Ramsey (NFL draftee), Glenn Holloway (NFL draftee), Ron Shanklin (NFL draftee), Chuck "Hatchett" Beatty (NFL draftee), Leonard Dunlap (#1 NFL draftee), etc, etc, era.

I repeat: I don't think "ANY" single SWC school did better (collectively) with draft choices in the late 60's and early 70's.

It was truly a golden era for our program that most schools in today's P5 conferences will most likely never even duplicate, either, IMO.

:party0005: It will be fun and very meaningful to most all of us of the Mean Green Nation to see former North Texas Mean Green & NFL greats Cedrick Hardman and Mean Joe Greene together again at the 50 yard line flipping the coin to get this special football season started. Wish I could have seen them play as a UNT student, but of course had that been the case, I would be much older than I am now. :)

I talked to Orr for a minute at the Kick Off event. What a nice guy. I thought the other players in the clip really represented North Texas well too. I think this new show will go a long way towards showing Texas and the surrounding states what kind of players choose North Texas, and what the college experience as a North Texas student athlete is like. Five years ago, I never would have dreamed UNT would have a show like this on T.V. I hope it is an annual series.

That's f'n awesome! That man is a hell of an example on and off the field! It makes all the losses a little more bearable when I see guys like him and some of the other seniors wear the school colors with pride and give everything they have for four years. They are another reason I am proud to call UNT my school!

I think we need to enjoy this team while we have the chance, I haven't been around long, but I don't believe guys like this and this kind of team chemistry comes around very often.

Can't wait for the season!!!

Impressive. First class all the way. Side note - Brandin Byrd has a future in broadcasting. Golden tones...

Two things:

1) THIS IS AWESOME

2) BYRD MAKES SUBWOOFERS GO BOOM

Oh man, I just want Byrd's voice narrating my life all day.

Or calling a steer auction.

Or crooning over a smooth R&B album.

Or softly telling me I'll succeed at whatever in life through my ringtone.

Or as the voice of navigation in my GPS.

Can we please just secretly record everything this guy says and built a synthetic database of Brandin Byrd awesomeness...

Can we, can we, can we.....

[woooh]

[deep breaths]

[woooh]

But seriously, that voice.

Seconded.
