This is just crazy. Welcome to the NRA's unregulated world.

---I thought Obama was going to take away all of our guns after his election ..... what happened?? I don't even remember any effort to do that.. That is what the ultra right, the gun companies, and the NRA kept saying in 2008... Were they "bearing false witness", If so that wasn't very Christian of them. Now we have all these people who have no clue how to use one owning one.

--- I noticed that gun sales really increased then and the NRA gained membership... could it have been a "ploy" to get more members and to sell guns and ammunition.... Surely not..! (sarcasm)

Many on the left, especially the far left would like to, but they know that it would be political suicide as many democrat voters are also firearms enthusiasts. They do the next best thing in their playbook, they enact legislation that is so tiresome and tideous, that many would simply rather not own a firearm rather than go through the loopholes, much like hunting. A prime example is CT limiting the number of rounds that even cops may carry in their patrol rifles.

One of the reasons that the Japanese, early on in WWII when they were on the offensive shortly after Pearl Harbor, decided against an invasion of the US west coast was the fact that Adm. Yamamoto, who had spent a good bit of time in the US, argued that it would be suicide for the Japanese to do that as so many people in the US owned and knew how to use guns! True fact. The anti-gun lobby can whine and moan all they want about private ownership of guns in the US, but it will not change the fact that private ownership of guns is not going away in the US.

On the other hand, will the anti-gun folks be able to curtail certain types of gun ownership? Probably, but you know...if they really wanted to control ownership they might should actually look more to the restriction of ammunition. Might have better luck.

I don't own a gun...don't care to, but may well get my CHL soon....before the anti-gun nuts start to try to shut that down as well. The NRA, while I am not a member, has every right to lobby and spend any amount of funds his membership can muster to protect the rights of US citizens to own guns...just as the anti-gun folks can spend all they want to try to deny citizens their rights.

He is probably waiting to win re-election first. By the way, although most would consider them conservatives, Regan and George Bush Sr. signed restrictive anti-gun legislation into law while they were in office. So even conservatives make mistakes.

Please provide me with a book or publication that quotes Adm. Yamamoto on this subject.

Now, having presented that challenge, I have to say that I have always BELIEVED IN THE CONCEPT, especially when people try to say things like "well, if this or that hadn't happened we would now be speaking German (or insert name of any other country that MIGHT have thought about invading the US), Because, historically, that is such a moronic notion that it boggles the mind. "Red Dawn" theory notwithstanding, how in hell would any country EVER be able to transport enough troops to our shores to even TRY to invade us? AND assuming that any troops DID reach our shore (without being blown out of the water or sky), how in hell would they be able to take America (over armed as we are) house by house.......especially in the South?

Ya, and Bush and his stupid oil buddies had gas at almost $4 a gallon in a good economy. That Evil SOB.

Oh, wait, gas prices were at almost $4 in a bad economy under Pres. Obama.

But, that's OK, because he thinks like me, so he isn't evil like those republicans.

You know, those people who don't think like me, and therefore are liars and evilness incarnated.

Close enough?

Obama inflation is insane.. such a bad guy... I paid $4.00 per gal. all the way to Florida in 2008 (except once in Texas). I filled up this week for $3.38 and it is $3.15 in Lubbock . This inflation is awful four years later. Plus unemployment in 2008 was climbing rapidly at the end of 2008, houses being repo-ed, car companies about to go under,

and we had just bailed out banks.. and the Dow had dropped 6000. Things are so much worse now (sarcasm).

Nothing like a little 'bearing false witness" by the party that claims to be so Christian while claiming the other isn't. Guess there are only 9 Commandments now.

--Actually is more about those who live in large cities.... and it so happens that they are mostly Democrat... You won't find a rural type Democrat anywhere that wants to do that... we need them and use them......Maybe assault guns... who hunts or shoots snakes and varmints with those... they are strictly made for killing people.

--- The really vocal gun crazies love assault weapons as do drug gangs... most gun users have absolutely no use for them.. when was the last time you heard of one being used for home or personal protection.... ????

Re police comment: I guess you are aware the soldiers unless in an immediate dangerous situation never carry rounds IN there weapons.... all about safety.

I know, right?

You know, like saying gas was at $4 a gallon under Bush when the economy was bad when what really happened is that gas fell to $1.50 a gallon when the economy went bad. F'n details, eh?

I guess it was just Pres. Obama and his oil buddies that pushed gas back to almost $4 a gallon, right? In a terrible economy, right?

Speaking of bearing false witness, you know good and well that there is absolutely zero proof that anyone lied. You know that there were many democrat members of the intelligence committee that viewed the same intelligence and made the same conclusion as Pres. Bush and his administration. I know you do because I know that you are a smart guy. So, who is really "bearing false witness" here?

Either that, or you are a left wing whack job who thinks it was a grand republican only conspiracy to go into Iraq for... Lord knows what.

Isn't it funny how people want to villianize people that don't think like they do. Some people used to villianize others for the color of their skin in the 50s. I think we had a word for that.

Well...here you go...at least my source...I read extensivly about WWII and have an pretty extensive book collection/library...the attributed quote is as follows: "You cannot invade mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass". My source....The Prange files....late Gordon W. Prange...Chief Historian to Gen Douglas A. McArthur.

You will find some "controversy" regarding this quote...folks who don't like US citizens owning guns have written aryticles claiming the quote is false. Interesting as the Prange Files pre-date such "controversy".

An extreme comparison, no doubt, and a comparison made to illustrate a point.

Isn't it interesting that liberals are supposedly tolerant, yet they are only tolerant of those who share their beliefs?

While I will disagree heartily with Pres Obama on the issues, you won't see me calling him a liar or attacking his character or family. I simply don't agree with his ideas.

Go back and look at the political threads. 9 times put of 10, when it turns personal, it is a liberal turning it that way.

I get that liberals operate more on emotion (everyone deserves health care!! How do you pay for it?? That doesn't matter, it makes me feel better when everyone has health care) than conservatives. I just wish they would stop personalizing things.

It was $4.00 that summer... then it fell to under $2.00 late that fall after the banking crisis and bailouts... You are twisting the truth to fit what you want to be true. Nothing I said is false.

"Curveball" (the only sourse Bush had) admitted he lied, and worse the Germans kept saying he was lying.. he was in Germany when he claimed to be in Iraq "seeing" those WMD.

http://www.guardian....d-lies-iraq-war

from article... note this was known before the Powell speech and before the invasion.

----

. It also follows the release of former defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld's memoirs, in which he admitted Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction programme.

The careers of both men were seriously damaged by their use of Janabi's claims, which he now says could have been – and were – discredited well before Powell's landmark speech to the UN on 5 February 2003.

-----

I am not exactly saying Bush lied but that he just believed what he wanted to be true even though the evidence demonstated it wasn't. As a result it cost us billions and 100's of lives.

Read the internet.. a lot of these articles are out there--- this is British.... not political. -- I'm sure you never see this stuff on Fox. That is the problem when one believes the "ONE" instead of the many ( which don't tell you what you want to hear .. so you call them Liberal liars ) ...

So, you think Bush believed what he wanted to be true, bit not a single member of the democrats on the intelligence committee? Who heard the same information as Pres. Bush? Interesting perspective.

And gas prices decreased as the economy crashed. Don't try to change history. Bit Pres. Obama and his oil buddies managed to pump them right back up in a bad economy. Be consistent.

Quoting British websites and telling me to read the Internet really doesn't help your cause. Have you considered that the British media is about a football field left of MSNBC?

But keep on blaming Pres. Bush for everything and I'll see you in November with a Republican congress and a Romney Presidency.

I just wish I could believe both of those would have conservative values.

So now everyone is left of Fox and the ultra -right [ ie. Liberal socialists] ... including the media and people in other countries. Now the British and ALL American media (except) Fox are liars.... That makes sense to you.???

If you are Shaq... then everyone else is short .... or using your football comment. .....when you get to the right end goal post.... all of the field is left of you.

So now both the Democrats and Republicans are too Liberal and Socialistic for you [ along with the media in every country on the earth.].. WOW .. and only you and a few others know what is right and what to do ....suggestion: Form your own party and inform America what the answers are...

I guess if you lean left, the content provided by CNN/MSNBC/others is just fine. But if you lean right, the programming on those channels feels pretty far to the left of where your political compass is.

I think it is a good thing we do not have homogeneous media coverage -- it provides a different viewpoint into what is going on around us if you are indeed interested in hearing that different viewpoint.

Just because you don't agree with the viewpoint of which the content is presented doesn't make them a "liar." I don't always agree with how CNN or MSNBC presents its content, but that doesn't make them a "liar."

Yes, I am a conservative. I thought that was pretty apparent.

And yes, English media IS more liberal than MSNBC. But, then again, you consider MSNBC mainstream, right?

Yes, EVERY network besides FOX slants to the left.

Thank God for the different viewpoint FOX provides.
