Can We Bulldoze Denia Already?

All About UNT

The more of these big complexes that are built, the better it is for UNT. We already have in between 6k-7k beds on campus. The big apartment complex with 1st floor retail in the fry street district should begin construction soon as well. The atmosphere up here is going to be unbelievable as the students become more and more centered around campus....Unless Denia screws it up.

The problem with this development is that the city of Denton doesn't have the infrastructure in place to support high density living in the area. In conjunction with the new football stadium, etc... in that area the current streets are not designed to handled large amounts of traffic. Bonnie Brae is essentially a Farm to Market Road from I35 heading south. The city should be proactive in widening streets to match development, but as usual, Bonnie Brae will be a mess throughout the first year or two the stadium is open. This is inexcusable considering NT has had the new stadium on the drawing board for a number of years and Denton knew this area would start to develop, but once again they choose to be reactive instead of proactive.

Oldest houses date from the 1950s. Mine and many date from the 1970s. As for the second question, very little thinking goes on among the Nattering Nabobs of NIMBY.

We need to get something straight here...once we declare all out war on Denia, which side are you fighting for.

“It’s not meant as a threat,” he said. “It’s just meant to tell you that you could run us off, you really can. But someone else could come in and never have a town hall meeting and never rezone it and this is what they could build.”

HELLO??? DENIA??? They can build this with or without your permission. You can bet that the next guys won't even ask for your input.

Negotiation is simply an abstract form of trade. And you should realize when you have no bargaining position. Really, though, should any of us be surprised at this?
