  1. A couple years ago I wouldn't miss a game unless there was something I just couldn't get out of. This is my first game this year and I'm only here because I couldn't think of anything better to do. I doubt I'll have too many more days like that this season.
  2. Because it is an abomination. If we lose on Saturday it'll be because instead of making a Flying Worm shirt that thousands would buy they made a shirt with a helmet on it.
  3. I don't even think about it much anymore. I'm not sure when the last time my seats were occupied. It's not the losing per se that bothers me, it's the directionlessness. It's why I'm not too worried about football and am looking forward to this fall. I can sort of see the direction. Do I want things to be farther along? Sure, but I can at least make sense of the plan there. With this? It's not fun, it's not entertaining, and they're losing to teams they have no business losing to. They have no discernible direction. I'll be keeping my seats next year, Bumford or no, because I like them and I'll be a NT fan beyond his tenure here, but if he's still here next year I'll probably just go to the women's games most of the time. They may not win all the time, but at least it's entertaining.
  4. I recommend going back and reading the old ones as well.

  6. Did anyone answer the question of how much Bumford's buyout is?
  7. I like the teams out west, even if they lose somebody else like Fresno State, way better than FIU/Marshal/OUD/UNCC. If the Texas teams in CUSA + Tulsa went out there I would be very happy.
  8. CUSA's normal rotation has been to play the same schools 2 years home and away then switch.
  9. Is there any way to fix things to not see when someone quotes someone you have on ignore?
  10. There's still a pecking order. Big East may or may not have come back to the pack, but even if they have they're at the front of it.
  11. You sound like a Troy fan talking about the SBC making a play for Southern Miss
  12. To anybody associated with the basketball band, I just heard the SMUt band play (not as well as ya'll would) the theme to Cowboy Bebop (Tank!). If our band could break that piece of greatness out I would be eternally grateful.
  13. Assuming all of this is correct, does anybody else find it a little amusing that we probably won't play FIU three years in a row and be conference mates the entire time.
  14. NBA arena announcer "At forward, former Missouri signee from North Texas, Tony Mitchell!"
  15. Middle Tennessee, coming in second and claiming championships since 2001.
  16. None of these plans do anything to change the fundamental fact of what college football has always been. You try to win your conference and if you have a decent enough season you get invited to play in a fun, but essentially meaningless, exhibition game somewhere. All the BCS and these new plans did/will do is incorporate some arbitrary opinion polls into selecting who plays in what exhibition game. With the four team "playoff" you still have the arbitrary opinion polls deciding essentially everything. Any team can be shut out for any or no reason. Undefeated SBC team? Sorry, this one loss Big 12 team is more worthy. Why? Because we said so, that's why. We will have a real national champion in college football when every team, from Alabama to FAU, knows, from the day they first put on pads, if they do X they will be national champions. It doesn't matter what X is, as long as there are objective criteria. Until that happens it's try to win your conference plus some exhibition games and arbitrary opinion polls. It's still fun, but nobody should pretend it's anything other than what it is.
  17. Winnable games. Build a consistent winner and worry about stepping the competition up later. That's what Boise did, I have no problem with that model.
  18. Rowing has a higher scholarship limit than equestrian (according to Wikipedia) and could give a little more Title IX flexibility, and it has the advantage of being a C-USA sport. Sorry Kram, I want us to have men's soccer, too, but I would rather have baseball. I'm beginning to see what RV was saying when I talked to him. It's hard to have both.
  19. So we need to buy a game against an FCS team (or Idaho or NMSU, maybe TSSM, whoever) a year from now until at least 2017, and 2 home and home series, one starting here in 2015, the other starting here in 2018 and paying both off at the other team's place in 2019. That one in 2015 might be a little harder to find a taker for, but surely there's somebody out there. We have either SMU or Army at home every year from 2014-2019 except for 2015. That plus a C-USA schedule with an FCS thrown in sounds fantastic to me, so what exactly is the problem?
