Armed Forces Bowl

Well, we just got back from the Armed Forces Bowl, and had a great time. They had a lot of military vehicles, equipment, and simulators in Frog Alley that my 5 year old really dug. Weather was great.

Real good idea for a bowl theme, and hope they continue it next year. Air Force flyover, fireworks during each quarter, and paratroopers, etc. My kids were going crazy, and the wife really enjoyed the game. Made a less-than-great game really entertaining.

Tulsa really represented well. I estimate they brought close to 10K with them. Utes probably had (generously) 3500.

Don't know what the actual attendance was, but the east side was about 4/5ths full, with smatterings in the end zones, and lower bowl of the home side about 50%.

Had forgotten how good AC is to see a game. Will be exciting to see if UNT can have a place right on top of the field like that.

Don't know if you guys watched the game, but the announcers mentioned North Texas "Mean Green" during the game. One of 12 teams in 1-A football to not have an "S" to pluralize your nickname along with:

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

2. Nevada Wolfpack

3. NC State Wolfpack

4. Tulsa Golden Hurricane

5. Stanford Cardinal

6. Navy Midshipmen

7. Illinois Fighting Illini

8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

9. Marshall Thundering Herd

10. Syracuse Orangemen

11. Tulane Green Wave

The announcers had a contest of who got the most right. One guy got all of them but most of the others forgot North Texas so they got a little bit of extra mention.
