Well, you recruit those type of players you get that type of results.  Chickens come home to roost sometime, and gee, who recruited those guys?

Dennis Franchione recruited most of these players. Withers is heading into his second season. Regardless of who recruited these players as a head coach how are you going to say you wouldn't bring your family around your own players. That can't be good for the perception of him or the football program going forward.

Everett Withers isn't exactly shying away from problems. Earlier this year he got into a little bit of hot water by "attacking former players."

Even if you don't like the guys, I don't know of a version of reality where it's a good idea to publicly trash people. Even doing it "off the record" very much is going to start to cause problems. When asked about people, saying you don't comment on them isn't going to get you into trouble!

Texas State has numerous Texas teams scheduled for several years out. Hard to say whether they'd be interested in scheduling yet another Texas team.

I've been Mean Green since 1999.  Have we even played Texas State once since then?  I would love to see them in our rotation.

Agreed (since 2000).
We have played them more than any other school in our history.  May as well put them back on the schedule.

I would much rather see Texas State at Apogee then I would Lamar or Bethune Cookman.

I don't think so.  We've played SWTSU about 40 times. 

I would have much preferred them to UTSA joining us in C-USA.  But with all the Texas teams we currently play, I really don't see much point in playing them now.

That would explain why Southwest Texas State doesn't show up in Sports-Reference.com. They don't include FCS/Div. 1AA schools in their stats.
