Congrats to long time UNT supporter and fan Rick McKinney (BBA '90) on his retirement after 30-years of public service with the Fort Worth fire department. Thank you Rick for your many contributions UNT athletics and the community. Go Mean Green!

1. If you are counting on other teams to fill your stadium then you are SMU. 2. Wyoming is a very good team and a measuring stick for where we are as a program. They were 9-4 last year! 3. You need to beat upper-level Mid-majors if you want to start establishing a foundation to build on.

Wyoming and the MWC are peer schools we should try to schedule. Much better than any FCS!

As is often the difference between a win and a loss, as a team we were solid from the charity stripe last night (20-25 - 80%).

WE are very fortunate to have nice on-campus basketball arena, football stadium, indoor practice facility, other athletic facilities plus land available for future uses, tailgating, parking, etc!

Probably need to win this to assure us no worse than the 7 seed.

"I got a call from the assistant head costumer, Barry Kellogg,” McKinney recalls, “and later that month, I met head costumer Dan Moore, who took me to Dallas to get costume fit for the Armadillo mascot suit." As a former member of Talons who had a passion for football and served as the Eagle mascot Eppy (later re-named Scrappy) during UNT basketball games, McKinney was hired as Rowdy the Armadillo. He also served as the equipment liaison between the film crew and the athletic department. This is what USF does, first game is at USF even for a 2-1. We should do the same and only schedule teams that will go to Denton first or have an exorbitant buyout clause like $5-10m if they want to cancel the game in Denton.

The Wyoming series is exactly what fans have been asking for since as long as I've been a fan ("Follow the Boise model!!!!1!!!!!!1!). We're trying to play teams we're supposed to beat... at home.

We'll sell out against Wyoming if they very cleverly market that we're playing the Cowboys.

Job well done, Rick, for both the fire department and UNT athletics...now you have more time to spend on your desired passions! Will always remember you taking my nephew to spend a day/night at the fire department when he became interested in being a fire fighter...still one of the highlights of his life! Didn't go that route but he was so impressed and you only knew me as fellow Mean Green fan. Thanks and congratulations to a great guy!

Defense has got to get back to holding teams around 60. We got outrebounded tonight and bullied in the paint. I wonder if we were so worried about staying out of foul trouble that we backed off our physicality. Edwards looks like it will take him another game or two to adjust to his off the ball role. It looked like he tried to go back to running the point a couple of times and turned the ball over. Defensive rotations were not good last night. Have to get that cleaned up before the tournament. GMG!

After our first game versus Tulane (where he scored 37), my youngest son met him. My son introduced himself, then he said, “Hi. I’m Jason. Nice to meet you.” I’m a fan. Great player and seems like a really good guy.

Fans whine about the AD not trying to attract students to games. Then whine when they do something to make it easy for students to attend the Tourney and in turn help the team!

Did they officially give them the whole week off? As a student from 14-17 I was still having classes on the Wednesday before if the professor was a big enough douche.

Observations from my easy chair: 1. Beautiful game by A. Scott. I agreed with the commentators. He has a pretty shot. Great shooting night and some incredibly athletic plays on defense, saving balls out of bounds and on offense. 2. Sissoko has to change his demeanor on the court. Just hammer it home. He's like Baby Huey and doesn't realize his size and strength. 3. Speaking of Sissoko, he was open down low often throughout the game, but we were late recognizing it. Need to be ready to hit him under the basket or rolling off the screen. 4. Free throw shooting was the difference. 5. Why was Buggs not played more? 6. Same question for Walker. 7. I would love to see Hodge tear into a referee just once. He could ignite the team. 8. Speaking of refs, these guys were something else. I agree with the prior comments questioning their calls. 9. Good road win. 10. Good to see Rubin and CJ back to being Rubin and CJ. 11. I would like to see us hit some of the open mid-range opportunities we get. We seem to settle for a three or waste the shot clock passing up open mid-range shots just to back someone down. 12. Speaking of backing down, A Scott's fade away Nowitzki-ish. 13. I am a huge Edwards fan, but we have to get him off the ball. Gets himself into trouble too much when dribbling around. ** Coming to town for the ECU and FAU games. "Twilight years" seems a bit ominous for a person that young. I think it is great he was able to retire at such a young age. Congratulations on your retirement FFR.

Great win to see in person. Tulane is a tough win for anyone on the road. I feel like the men are slowly putting their mojo back together for the tourney. the women are indeed the pride of UNT though with their dominance a great time to be a basketball fan at UNT indeed!

The softball ladies joined men's basketball in lighting the tower tonight. 5-3 over struggling UTA to climb over .500 at 8-7.

As I've harped on a lot already, I'll take the 7 seed with its 6 p.m. tournament game starts on Thursday and Friday. Right now, we'd play #10 Tulsa in the second round (first game). Last weekend home game of the regular season... everyone #GetToThePit and bring a friend!!

The nerd in me thanks you! So not only are we on track for the first 4,000 average since 2011-12, we're on pace for the highest average since 1976-77. That is crazy to me!!

What's the story with the AC expansion? I thought they had a goal to start at the end of the 2023 FB season? This is definitely 1 area where we really need some improvement.

F'em. Every school they approach should say no and hold their feet to the fire. In the future, never accept a game with them without the first game being in Denton.

It would be better for us if East Carolina won against Memphis and then we beat them on Sunday. We would catch up with Memphis. We would have the tie breaker with both schools.
