Not an alumnus but I’ve donated money & been a season ticket holder for 40 plus years, can I get in?6 points

I know you (the downvote) are most likely being and ass that hides in anonymity, but why downvote a simple question? Would be so nice is the mods were not afraid that letting us see who uses what "vote" would limit their clicks.5 points

I watched him play in the game against Penn State, and thought he looked good. He definitely has talent, but has yet to put it all together as a QB. Regardless, he has ability to change games somewhere on the field, so it's a good pickup for Rice. And a better Rice makes for a better C-USA, which is good for us.3 points

I think it would be fun to show out of town games on a big screen TV at the Alumni Center.3 points

Yeah... I'm sure your ECU vs Temple ratings are banging. Or should I switch over to the Tulsa vs Memphis game? Or the Tulane at USF game in USF's empty NFL stadium? You guys have a good media contract. But ultimately nobody cares about your games all that much either, regardless of how good your commish is at negotiating.2 points

I agree the MWC would be the best option should UNT leave CUSA in its current alignment. however I also think our basketball program might be key to joining a new conference2 points

Walk on We used to. It’s not a system anyone should expect we will go back to. Best suggestion is to just ignore it, because there is a serial downvoter in the BB forum and they have been doing it for years, and probably will continue to do so.2 points

The MWC and AAC are waiting out the possible/probable demise of the Big XII and will see what gets left behind. Then, they will fill in the gaps to get Texas exposure. Lets say that TCU, Baylor, Iowa State, and Kansas State get left behind. I can easily see the Texas teams going west and the Big XII North schools going to the AAC. And with the AAC having an odd number right now, at some point another full member will be needed, even if the Big XII stays together. Now, they could add Army as a football-only member like Navy is, then add a non-football playing school from the A-10, someone like Dayton or VCU, just to join like Wichita State currently. But if they wanted another Texas team, UTSA represents their best spot. TV market that is not shared, easy travel games from SMU, Tulsa, UH, and Tulane, and a possible bowl tie-in with the Alamo Bowl. My view has always been to get good enough to get the MWC's attention and get an invite. Follow TCU's path of letting Texas HS kids compete against the schools out West. It was a massive success for the Frogs. It could be copied again. And I pray the Big XII does stay together, as it would make the MWC's choices for expansion into Texas become limited to G5 schools. DFW was great to them before and could be again. It'd be great to go out there with the other 3 Texas schools in CUSA, as well, which would be ironic since the Texas CUSA West teams have been mostly putrid for the last several seasons, but do represent a ton of eyeballs for TV deals in El Paso, DFW, San Antonio, and Houston. Those four metro areas provide over 17 million potential viewers. Except for their California teams, that probably represents more than the other MWC markets combined...2 points

Yes, let's leave the AAC and our billion dollar media contract, our 8 million per team just to play UNT and U-LaLa for pennies that nobody would watch2 points

Couldn't find a UNT player but found this: Callen McCasland, 6-0, 185 WR, S, Archer City (Fort Hays State)1 point

I didn't know that about Deion, and it didn't even occur to me to double check the roster. This is a little deflating. He was a guy that I just kept expecting to have a break out year. As if it was inevitable.1 point

Caleb has speed speed speed. Is Hair-Griffin the fastest guy on our roster, or has he been passed by any of the newcomers?1 point

UNM and NM St? Hell no. It shouldn't take much convincing to get UAB and Southern Miss to join that conference and they're light years ahead of the New Mexico schools.1 point

I agree completely. UTSA has more advantages than any school in the three lower G5’s. That they haven’t taken advantage of that completely is actually pretty lucky for the rest of us. If they ever get really good and ranked, the AAC and the MWC could easily consider them, especially with no one to block them because of sharing a TV market.1 point

The idiots at the NCAA always knew this would happen .... but then there was a problem They thought it would be P5 programs grabbing the top players from G5 and FCS and they were OK with that. Then something else happened; P5 programs are poaching other 55 programs. There are programs who have full time staff dedicated to looking for transfers (any way they can). They are reaching out to players and saying we will start you! Coaches are feeling the pressure to try and play new players so they don't look elsewhere and also having to worry about upperclassmen who in the past would stay for depth when a new "star" would come in, but now look elsewhere.1 point

Easy to forecast that the conference strength pecking order will change often among the G5. I still think UNT should grow some family jewels, copy 🐸TCU; that is, just remove itself from all the conglomeration of schools (we’re with now) that TCU removed itself from when it left CUSA (& SMU) behind & then we try to gain admittance to the MWC. Yet I don’t think UNT would be pro-active to do that & would have to be approached by MWC Commissioner Craig Thompson for anything to happen. (4 from CUSA West Division going to the MWC would be fine, too). I know, this is all pipe dream fodder right now, but we can still dream, right? 😊 🦅Re-alignment in some form is going to happen again, folks, but where will UNT be this time around when it does? Pining for some semblance of a nostalgic teacher’s college past or—will we be where other former Missouri Valley Conference schools we “used to be” at the same level were when they went “beep! beep!” right past UNT? ••• I know one present CUSA school in Texas who will do that to UNT when we’re not watching (& so do y’all). That school is located in a destination tourist city & plays in a stadium that hosts an annual bowl game. 🤕 Honestly, wouldn’t that be the all time “spirit-breaker” (or as some would say) “ball buster” for especially those who’ve followed the UNT athletic program for decades? ❇️🦅❇️1 point

I have no idea what somebody would want 198 pairs of used North Texas football pants for, but the whole lot is for sale on Craigslist for $500. https://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/spo/d/used-nike-adult-football-pants-white/7317480221.html1 point

I would dearly love to see 10,000 or more students at each home game and fill the rest with alumni.1 point

I'm sure that they will share; I was just pointing the talent that is available. The usage is up to Tommy Mainord. I have been pleased with Coach Mainord. He has developed several good receivers each year. I feel sure that he will give adequate playing time to the best receivers but he has enough depth to keep fresh legs when necessary.1 point

That shirt is sooooooo nice!!!!! And so is Abou!! Baby Shaq AKA Kenneth Lofton needs to take after Abou! He was probably mid 40s when he got here, but now he’s looking like he’s ready to run the conference down low. I think this is the most excited I’ve been for a basketball season in a LONG time.1 point

Add in our TE's Roberts, Pirtle, Alberding, Lyles and Lee, plus Addaway and Torrey out of our backfield and this is by far the deepest we have ever been at the skill positions.1 point

With this group of receivers, an improving O-line and a QB who steps up, we might have a RB with a monster year1 point

If Ruder wins the job I would be surprised to see Drummond stick around, since Ruder is technically a redshirt freshman still. Sitting behind a guy for four years in hopes of becoming a starter as a redshirt senior is not a very desirable situation.1 point

If the D can be 10 ppg better, I speculate the O can relax a. little. Open up and have more fun. Even moreso if the D is 15-20PPG better. After 3+ years of garbage D, I often wonder if the O has a tendency to play tight and worried, knowing that the burden of winning is solely on them. Which is kinda hard to fathom, given how productive they are already.1 point

Ideally, Aune will improve from last season's serviceable play. If Aune wins the starting job over Ruder, I'm sure he'll play well enough to win games. QB play was not an issue last year, maybe with the exception of the UTSA game. The flip-flopping between the two was definitely distracting, but both played well enough to win. It shouldn't be an issue this year either. The make-or-break for this team is entirely on defense. Aune (or Ruder) will look like a superstar if the defense can keep opponents to less than 30/gm average, which would be almost 13ppg better than last year's defense.1 point
-
Having to choose between Ruder and an experienced Aune is FAR superior to having to choose between a less experienced Aune and Jason Bean. The odds that they land on one of the two as a stable for the offense is much higher than it was last year.1 point

I am a huge fan of this young man. Recruited as a WR, ended up being our best cover CB and is now back at WR. Underrated and is going to produce this year.1 point
