  1. Typically firing both coordinators to save face is not something a coach who is super secure in his position does, can't imagine they did too much research on the G5 coaches for this article. We have a handful of challenging games this year, but the highest paid coach in the conference and one of the highest in all of G5 should not miss a bowl game 2 years in a row without feeling a ton of heat under his seat in my opinion.

  5. You are at least 1 year too early IMO. Recruiting is really up after a slow start. 2021-22 is the year for this team to break out. That will be the season that he is judged on.

  6. No Mark, I don't know him at all, nor his real life self. Zero. None. I don't claim to know. I know what he typed: "Kids need to be in school. I have zero fear of sending mine." He was not talking as a teacher with his two sentences. He was talking as a parent and his lack of fear for his kids. So.. That is what I responded to. If he has no fear for his fellow teachers or administrators - that is wonderful. I am glad he/she will be back in the classroom. </woke>

  7. You'd probably have better luck by contacting the athletic department and explaining your project than by asking on a fan message board. Then again, most of our athletic department can't figure out our school colors, so they may not be able to help.

  9. you heard a detail-specific story...where they were tested, how long they waited, what occurred in the follow-up consultation...from multiple people? was multiple people actually 40K re-tweets? https://twitter.com/KamVTV/status/1279489733249433600 how embarrassing, doc. you know, I honestly might understand a pandemic devolving into a political fight if it was isolated within our borders...it's just playing out the chalk of all of our other partisan arguments and everyone camps up hard behind their chosen ideological banner. but in this case, in order for there to be any "conspiracy" we'd literally need the cooperation of the entire world...like every world leader, illuminati, free mason and pedophile got together and said instead of the Olympics this year, let's build world unity around perpetuation of a virus hoax. the only real solace I can take in all this is that about 12 years ago I made a fervent commitment to follow the european soccer leagues and it has subsequently become my favorite sport...and since our friends across the pond have figured out a way to better manage this...through leadership, shared sacrifice inconvenience, an established social safety net and the recognition that between an economic system and a contagious virus, the prior should be adjusted to manage the later, not vise-versa...I'll still have live sports to watch while my industry goes through a now inevitable second shut-down. so for the rest of you, I'll trade your humility...a simple "we really cocked this up" will suffice...for a primer on the premier league.

  11. Maybe I missed it, but I hadn’t seen an official announcement on pod play being discontinued. And we will get UTEP twice. If UTEP’s schedule is an indication, we will probably play Rice, UTEP, UTSA, La Tech, and Southern Miss twice each, then each of the other 8 teams in the conference once each. Would make sense that the conference is looking to cut down on travel as much as possible.

  15. Why would school districts run out of money if it is tax payer driven? Why does physical attendance impact tax payments? Maybe I am misunderstanding the comment. It isn't only the students - it is the teacher safety. I know at kids school the teachers are on the upper end near retirement age. They may not make retirement if they are forced to teach in person and get a bad case. I am on the fence with this one - it is definitely tricky. I private school my kids - and they have more flexibility it seems. They are setting up medical task boards from physician parents and hosting seminars with child psychologists. It is a very lucky life - no doubt. However, one of their models they are allowing us to select is a hybrid approach with one week in class, then one week out of that classroom. The off independent week, the teacher will be at home leading instruction, BUT the kids can elect to come into the class and do their hybrid week actually on campus. It allows for parents that cannot work at home or don't feel the need for the home schooling. Seems like a logistic nightmare to me. For my multiple kids, will they all be in class the same week and off at home the same week too? If not, I will be at home with them full time anyhow, just carpooling more. It's insanity. But if we can limit the risk to the kids and faculty - then it is all worth it.

  16. Per an article on ESPN this morning he is requesting a trade from the 49ers. That leaves only 3 running backs on the team. Tevin Coleman, UNTs Jeff Wilson and Jerrick McKinnon who hasn’t played in 2 seasons due to knee injuries. Now I’m sure if they trade they will go after another RB but it is probably more reps for Wilson.

  18. The 2020 season for Conference USA is headlined by uncertainty in the East Division and a clear front-runner in the West. UAB is Athlon’s projected champion in the 2020 Conference USA predictions, with coach Bill Clark’s squad anchored by a strong defense and an offense poised to improve with a healthy fall out of quarterback Tyler Johnston III and running back Spencer Brown. The East is one of the more difficult divisions to predict in college football. WKU is Athlon’s pick to win it, but Marshall, FAU and Charlotte should all be in the mix. Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech headline the next tier in the West Division, followed by Rice and North Texas as potential bowl teams. UTSA and UTEP round out the bottom of the West. Middle Tennessee and FIU should push for postseason trips out of the East, but Old Dominion is likely a year away from contention. Athlon Sports has released its preseason magazine for 2020, and now it's time to preview and predict the conferences. Below are Athlon's picks and projections for Conference USA in 2020: Read more: https://athlonsports.com/college-football/conference-usa-football-2020-predictions

  21. No one dies or is hospitalized for season allergies. You are intentionally being obtuse at this point. People aren’t sneezing and getting the sniffles and then dropping dead. Although COVID can cause heart and kidney issues, the most reasonable barometer of estimated excess deaths would be the pneumonia deaths. Where I am there now about 9000 confirmed COVID cases, but they are now releasing that pneumonia cases over the past couple months are in excess of 3500 and over 30-40 a day are dying from bilateral pneumonia even though many of those have negative tests. But false negatives are common and there are no other flu bugs going around here. The pneumonia cases are 2-3 times the norm. So they are just now starting to treat these as COVID cases and acknowledging their numbers have been off.

That must mean the coaches really like him & at least the feeling is mutual. Littrell usually let’s those guys go.

  25. Jordan Brown made his commitment to play college football at North Texas before the 2019 season, but his journey with the Mean Green didn’t officially begin until late last month. The former Huntsville standout arrived in Denton on June 22, and has been working out with the team since. Brown notes that outside of some early jitters, everything has “been really good.” “When I first started working out I was kind of nervous, but then you find out it's kind of like high school,” he said. “It's a little more intense, but you just have to be mentally strong and it's all the same.” Brown, who shared honors as District 10-5A, Division II’s Defensive MVP last season, recognizes that his time with the Hornets helped prepare him to take his talents to the next level. “That program played a big part in this,” he added. “With that program, you have to be mentally tough to get through some of the things ... and that's helped me get through these workouts in college.” The versatile linebacker led the district’s top defense in 2019, recording 97 tackles, four sacks, 12 tackles for loss, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one defensive touchdown in nine regular season games. He proceeded to come up big in the postseason, helping the Hornets notch a pair of playoff victories. read more: https://www.itemonline.com/sports/huntsville-prepared-jordan-brown-for-start-of-north-texas-football-career/article_01752e60-c143-11ea-8c30-7bcd1efcdc2c.html

  29. Federal and state moneys are tied to students being physically present in a classroom. School districts cannot survive on local taxes alone. When it came to virtual learning, many students would "check in" for attendance but never turned in any work (yet many were given passing grades anyway).

  30. Perhaps using the Coronavirus thing as a cover to dump sports and budgets they have been looking to dump for some time just couldn't figure out a reason folks would believe. They now have that reason... Just a thought. And, I believe you will see other universities doing the exact same thing. Note, too, that Vanderbilt just cut the entire Athletic Dept SID budget...transferred it to the university's information office. You really think this wasn't a move Vandy had been wanting to make for some time? Coronavirus giving excellent cover for folks to do a lot of things...public schools, private schools, government agencies, pro sports, corporations, etc.

  32. It's a rough subject. On one hand, there's no quicker way to spread the virus. On the other, school districts are running out of money and parents are struggling with adding "teacher" to their resume or even being able to be home at all to take care of kids. I don't think kids should go back to school, because it's going to be a catastrophe. However, I'd be lying if I said this is a cut and dry issue.

  36. If NT does as bad as everyone is predicting, then they are paying the wrong coaches CUSA big money. What happens after a four win system, but most of these prognosticators are just lazy with their research. Look at nothing but who returns and spend maybe a couple hours research on the whole league.

  38. I remember reading literature once years ago that speculated that one reason deaths are so high in January is older people are trying to make it to the New Year and once they do lose a bit of that will to stay alive. Kinda like when there's a parent who through sheer force of will lives to see their kid be married or something (I had an Aunt do that for one of my cousins) and then basically dies immediately afterward.

  39. Coaches were hired before the pandemic so the salaries would not have been out of line at the time...especially for the quality that we are getting. I believe that this coaching staff is a vast improvement over the 2019 staff and will have more wins even with the tougher schedule. They've had more time to get acclimated to the system and the players due to the virus and the players seem pleased with the coaching changes. I'll be terribly disappointed if we're not bowl eligible this coming season.

  40. So if he does run would he pull more votes away from Trump or Biden? Seems it would be more away from Biden as Trumps base is more "for Trump", while many in Biden's base seems to be more of "against Trump" rather than "for Joe". Will be interesting to see if he continues. He could be this elections H Ross.

  42. I've seen this elsewhere, but seriously, why can't we just call the football games a protest? The scientific and medical experts have told us you can't spread Covid at a protest and actually there are articles out there that say protests actually DECREASE the spread of Covid. The logical thing to do to slow the spread would be to have MORE football games...I mean protests....at Apogee.... Just put all those folks in green and teach them the "NORTH" "TEXAS" chant. Turn the fists into claws....(three fingers or four fingers depending on your generation...I'm assuming that crowd would go with the more modern, three finger eagle claw) With masks, the sound may be a tad muffled but there's virtually zero risk of spreading Covid if the crowd is labeled as a "protest" vs any other crowd. It's all about the label... We could break attendance records this year....
