  3. I am a little nervous that we haven’t seen a signed announcement. Is this due to the no contact period?
  4. Very competitive after two rounds. In 6th place....top 5 advance. Just need a good Wednesday. Go Mean Green!! https://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=team&tid=29163
  5. Thanks! Geez. I must have zoned out when I posted this bump.
  6. The RB from Syracuse Juwaun Price and the LB Connor Henderson from Cornell.
  7. They keep doing this and listing puzzle pieces that fall through. I just don’t pay any attention to it unless I see confirmation.
  8. This was so effective last season. NOT!!!! Get some defensive with size. You know, Mean Joe Green size!
  9. I wasn't. Just say where they committed individually
  10. I’d have a hard time paying an athletic fee as part of my tuition while some of my classmates were making 6 figures.
  11. This. I wouldn’t have a problem with the portal if there was a one transfer limit. A highly recruited guy goes to P4, but doesn’t develop as expected…let him go to a G5. On the other hand, a guy doesn’t get recruited heavily out of high school, but develops after a couple of years at a G5…let him go to P4. I don’t like it, but I get it. On another note: I understand there are cases where it makes sense or is needed, but I’m generally against P4 to P4 transfers and G5 to G5 transfers.
  12. Of course they/we are getting raided. Top G5 talent is leaving and being replaced with P4 bench players. When the former P4 produce, they’ll leave again. I know it’s cynical, but I’d be very surprised to see our transfers finish their careers at UNT…Especially after they have a good season. Some P4 will just offer them a good payday and/or a “better chance to get drafted.” It’s a year to year basis as a Mean Green fan. I’m impressed with the longevity/production of Gabe Blair, Jett Duncan, Ridge Texada, Damon Ward, Jordan Brown, and the Rod Browns of our Mean Green. Did I miss anyone? I hope I’m wrong regarding all the pessimism. I think we should have a good team this year., though. Still looking forward to the season. GMG!
  13. Bump: I’m assuming one of the commits was the DT Bronson. Am I missing the other 3?
  14. This guy says no: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-transfer-portal-are-group-of-five-programs-actually-being-raided-by-power-conferences/ Color me skeptical, but I thought this was worth posting for no other reason than the photo CBS Sports chose to represent "G5."
  15. Interesting...of course, they were called the "Iowa State Chicken Tenders" at State Club. And other than the chicken tenders, the menu looks very, very different. Of course, I imagine they're catering to a very different crowd. Or, rather, the exact same crowd 30-40 years later with a whole lot more disposable income than they had in college.
  16. Well, apparently it is legal, because that appears to be exactly what this job is handling. But my understanding was that the university/A.D./sports program could have no direct involvement with NIL. Also, my understanding was that NIL could not be used to entice recruits, and this job involves "manag[ing] all aspects of NIL at Cal, including advising and consulting with student-athletes, meeting with recruits..." I'm fairly certain that my understanding was correct when NIL was first allowed, but it seems any enforceable rules pertaining to NIL have gone out the window.
  17. Chump change compared to some college players🤣
  18. Thanks. I was looking on 247 and they didn't show those. Where are you looking?
  19. Welcome Treviance "TJ" Bronson to the Mean Green. @Marty posted this in another thread, but I thought it deserved its own. 6'3" 290lbs. Played HS ball at Katy Taylor. Looks like he committed to Lamar out of high school in 2021, transferred to AR St. in 2022. 247's timeline is confusing. https://247sports.com/player/treviance-bronson-46101959/ https://tylerpaper.com/news/texas/transfer-defensive-tackle-vj-bronson-finds-fit-at-unt-after-weekend-visit/article_5b1ef6a5-d15c-5ae1-94a3-fc23f06ba418.html Bronson suspected he would be a perfect fit at UNT and laid out a plan to join the Mean Green for the 2024 season. The 6-foot-4, 303-pound tackle finalized those plans during his visit to UNT this weekend and announced his commitment.” “I like the coaching staff and the environment,” Bronson said Sunday after completing his visit. “I also like the defense and the scheme they play. I can play the zero [nose tackle] or the end. The coaches told me they need some help.” UNT moved to a 3-3-5 scheme last season that requires bigger defensive linemen. Bronson appears to be a good fit. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining and is set to enroll at his third college. He will arrive at UNT over the summer.
