I live here....Here are your options

Eat

Shop

other than that, there is jack to do in Houston

You forgot drink

Neither Houston or DFW are tourist destinations so primarily it's Eat Drink, Shop. But I will take a stab at some alternatives.

Take the family to Hermann park and ride the paddle boats, go to the zoo, ride the train and hit the museum district. It's all right there and very nice. Rice University is also right there and the campus is beautiful. Walk the kids around the campus and maybe it will inspire them to make the grades to get in. Anything is possible

Go to the Orange show. Never been but hear it is fun.

Visit the Menil museum. It's one of the best private art exhibits in the US. btw it is not in the museum district.

Go to Galveston. Visit the strand (you must go to La Kings Confectionary if you do, best ice cream around) Get a fishing guide or visit Pleasure pier, Moody Gardens and Schliterbahn. Hit NASA on the way back. Its worth it just to walk around a Saturn V. Do not choose the mission control tour.

The bar scene is best on Washington ave but take a cab. Midtown and rice village have a decent bar scene as well.

The area around UH sucks so only go there for the game.

That is all for now

Fat Women

And men and children. Hey, there is a reason that Houston is always in the running for the fatest city in the nation other than being too humid to play outside. It is the food. If you think about it, Houston is in middle of several of the best food cultures. One one side you have La. cajun and creole. On another, you have Mexican (authentic and Tex Mex). Then there is a big body of water nearby offering fresh seafood. It is in Texas so plenty of beef and barbeque. It also has one of the largest Vietnamese populations in the country and those folks can cook. Man, I'm gettin' hungry.
