New Defense Dominates First Spring Scrimmage

Nice write up. But, I have a question about all the media stories

on spring practice at North Texas.

Every story that I have read always includes a reference to last

years defense allowing 45 points per game. I am sick

of seeing this pointed out in every sports news article from

the media. Every North Texas fan already knows about how

bad the North Texas defense was last year. Why keep reminding

us about the 45 points per game allowed average? Geez!

Considering his ability to rebound from a slow start, Vizza was content with his overall play. However, he said he knows he's far from ready to compete with Riley Dodge this fall for the chance to win the starting job he had at the end of last season.

If I was Vizza I would hunt this reporter down for twisting his words.

I was thinking the same thing. Well, not the hunting down part, but at least the twisting words part.

So if you were Vizza, you would #### this reporter for twisting your words?

"A revamped, revitalized Mean Green defense dominated its offensive teammates Friday afternoon at Fouts Field in the first of three scrimmages the team will have this spring."

I would not say they dominated the offense. Maybe for the first 12 plays, but after that the offense still scored at least 50 points on the defense.

A revamped, revitalized Mean Green defense dominated its offensive teammates Friday afternoon at Fouts Field in the first of three scrimmages the team will have this spring.

Dodge's frustration over the defense's inability to prevent scoring drives was understandable, since in addition to Fitzgerald's touchdown, Vizza also connected with senior wide receiver Brock Stickler for a touchdown
