What's The Deal ?

In an earlier post several days ago, it was mentioned that Woody had been injured and that was why DD had pulled him. Was that actually ever announced and I missed it, Or was he pulled just to add to the random confusion we have become accustomed to ??? If he in fact was injured, at full strength will he and vizzi really battle it out ??? Or will we see another "soft" recovery like Meager had ??

From Dickey's comments after the UT game and the SMU game, it sounds like he was trying to knock Woody's confidence down a few notches. It sounded like Woody called his own plays in the huddle and didn't follow Dickey's plan. He found himself on the bench.. Then when he got a chance to play again, he followed Dickey's plan to the T, but it failed, so Woody was put back in the three man rotation.

As they would say on Mythbusters...Plausible.

Heck, if I were WW or any other QB, I'd throw Dickey's plays to the wall, too. Especially if it's some draw play against a 9-man front.

After the SMU game WW started the next 4 games

Tulsa in 3 quarters of play had 47 yards total off.

Akron 287 total yards off for the game

MTSU 71 total yards off in half

FIU 140 yards total off. in 3 quarters

This is when he found himself on the bench

He was benched in the UT game -- for running his own play -- when we scored our only score against them in 3+ years.

After that SMU game, Dickey commented that WW "thought he was Joe Montana" and he needed to sit and think about where he is not making reads.

Tulsa game, there was NO throwing and WW wasn't running... he had to make the right reads. He was benched.

Akron game, I don't remember how much he played .. but finally JT got some running room.

MTSU and FIU ... oi. I don't call those starts.

DD showed no ability to work with a QB.

I don't know where to find the starts for each game... but i do see this:

Meager, Daniel 11 97.63 100-53-6 53.0 517 4 54 47.0

Wilson, Woody 8 98.84 90-54-8 60.0 528 2 33 66.0

Phillips, Matt 11 95.35 60-29-5 48.3 337 3 36 30.6

WW played in 8 games and hard better efficiency, yards and rushes than the other two.. He played in 3 less games.

He was not benched in the Texas he was dehydrated

In the game Tulsa we only had about 40 plays total and if I remember correctly we pass about 15 times

"dehydrated" -- yeh. I don't drink from the propaganda fountain too often.

Tulsa, we only had 40 plays because we ran it up the gut every opportunity we had.

It’s obvious that you were not at the game. It must have been about 130 deg. On the playing field. WW was lying on the sidelines with an IV about half way into the third quarter.

It is that obvious, eh?

I was ROASTING in the endzone. Without the benefit of fans, misters or gatorade. They were taking people out on stretchers. I know.

I still don't believe that line that DD fed ... Woody played 5 plays (or something like that).

Don't forget the other things you didn't have like air conditioned jerseys or temperature monitoring capsules.

No kidding! If I hadn't escorted my wife back to the room at half-time she very well may have needed a stretcher.

The kids and I stayed until the bitter end, sunburns and all.

That was the most miserable game I have ever been too ... and that includes every game in Monroe ;)

I couldn't even enjoy tailgating because of the 11 am kickoff. That is just insane.

No joke there. About half way through the fourth I took my 12 year old down to the first aide station to get cooled off. We drank lots of water, and he still turned a strange color of purple? That scare knocked five years off of my life. I love the trips to Austin, but that game started and ended with the sun beating right down on us. I dont know how the UT fans felt, but that heat was brutal. I still think it was a good trip, and that End-zone vision at DKR stadium was amazing!

If all holds true, we will get torrential down-pours again in Oklahoma for this game. (has been that way the last few times we went there). I would rather have than heat.... doesnt hurt as much. Bring on OU!!

GMG!!!

The cold rain did suck, however the wall clouds dipping out of the sky were not much fun either. A OU buddy of mine already mentioned he heard they were thinking of kicking off at noon this year (possibly for Fox sports purposes)

I'm fairly comfortable in hot, miserable conditions as you can imagine. Last years late morning tU game temperature was warm but was no where near as bad as the 2000 Baylor game at Fouts. Temperature at kickoff time(6:00 p.m.) was 106 degrees. During tailgating Mo Green came over and asked if I would like to go take a tour of the Super Pit and check out the new Green seats that had been installed. When we got over there we realize immediately that the air conditioner was on. We ended up staying there until kick off. As many of you will recall, this was the famous game in which our concessions ran out of drinks before halftime.

There was a game at OU (2001?) that was also about 106 degrees at 6pm kickoff. Our seats looked right into that west sun. Finally got shade from the pressbox about halftime, then it was ok, except for the score. I think it was a record temp for a OU kickoff back then.
