This came from page 8D in the "IN MY OPINION" section:

Through three weeks, non-Bowl Championship Series teams have a 9-63 (14%) record in games with teams from the BCS conferences.

With Saturday's Southern Illinois victory over Indiana, Division 1-AA teams are 5-49 (10%) against 1-A teams this season. Last season 1-AA teams had two victories against 1-A foes.

(I believe the difference this season is the scheduling of the 12th game)

Under Darrell "Keep 8 In The Box" Dickey UNT is 2-25 (8%) against BCS school in 8 years and 3 games. These are wins against Texas Tech and Baylor. You can see that his performance against BCS schools almost fits the "norm" for wins. Without looking at any stats over the last 8 or 9 years I would venture to guess this is probably close to the national norm. If DD had ONLY "one more win" against BCS schools then it would be "in line" with the national average for this year.

I would rather see how NT fairs against BCS competition by comparing our record to those of our immediate peers like Tulsa, La Tech, Houston, Boise, etc. I really don't care how Buffalo, Ball State, and other low brow non-BCS programs do in similar matchups.

I know, NT is now part of the low brow, but you get my point. wink.gif

Ya, me too. Anyone know what the average OOC win/loss record against non-BCS teams is for D1A teams?

I guess this has already been said, I just want to say it as well..

I don't think anyone is upset that we lost to BCS Texas. People are upset that we constantly lose to La Tech, Memphis, South Florida, So Miss, Tulsa(x2), Air Force, Colorado State, TCU ... and any other non-conference OOC.

We try to measure ourselves based on who we 'consider' our mid-major peers. Unfortunately we never measure up to any of them.

That is a far cry from being pissed at Dickey for only having two BCS wins.

it's not just losing...it's getting blown out that bothers people. Not looking competitive bothers people. There was no emotion from the team on Saturday...no jumping around, no high fives, no helmet slapping. On the road you only have yourselves to get you fired up. I'm tired of looking hopeless on against people we compete with for the same exact recruits.

It looked like that all game and in pregame.

This is what JD is referring to:

Since joining the belt, against non-conference mid majors

TCU L 5-19

S.Florida L 10-28

Troy St. L 16-18

Colorado St. L 20-45

TCU L 10-16

S. Florida L 17-24

Cincy W 24-19

Air Force L 21-34

Troy W 21-0

Memphis L 17-27

Fla. Atl. L 13-20

S. Miss L 10-31

Tulsa L 2-54

La. Tech L 14-40

SMU W 24-6

Tulsa L 3-28

That's a whopping total of 3-13.
