UT game

My wife and I are taking 4 kids with us to the game in Austin and I am having trouble finding a hotel under $125 a night and within walking distance to the stadium. Any help out there?

I have stayed in Austin quite a bit and I dont know of anything near the campus that you are going to get for less than $125 per night. I am actually surprised at that rate. I think youre doing well.

You aren't going to find anything close to the stadium for under $125 a night and alot of those are going to be booked soon.

Try the Arboretum area 183, MoPac, Capitol of Texas Hwy (360). There is a Marriott Courtyard, Residence Inn and several other places in that area that might be less than $125 a night. There is a Holiday Inn at 183 and MoPac as well. The closer you get to downtown and the stadium the more it is going to be.

Also, for any of you State of Texas employees (which includes state universities), remember you get a discount at La Quinta. Just show your agency ID if they ask for it.

bigrobdsp is right on. I work for a major hotel chain and always book as soon as the schedule is announced. You might try to see if some of the properties a little further away might provfide a shuttle to and from the game. 2 years ago I stayed at the Embass Suites and they did but they are sold out now.

Actually, I kept looking for something reasonable because with 6 people some of the hotels wanted me to get 2 rooms. I found a room at the Roadway Inn within in a block from the stadium. The costs with tax etc. was under $100.

I just hope the rooms are clean. My wife always travels with her own pillow, maybe this time we'll pack some linen just in case.

PS As of July 19 they still had rooms left.
