  1. You're probably remembering the post two spots above yours. ;)

  2. My youngest daughter recently graduated from Arkansas (and yes that game I had lots of friend and family with us, but that’s another story). Her boyfriend’s mother and husband are huge boosters. So last year and just recently we were invited to join them in their suite for Saturday bball game. And while watching the game I am taking notes why their game day atmosphere is so electrifying and fun. My thought is IF WE COULD DO 50% of this it would be a game changer for the students and guests * lots of families, so groups are 4-5 * band - big deal, I counted around 70. They are playing all pre game. Anything from classics to Ozzy. Really loud and with pump up music. They take an entire corner section * the announcer is a professional. He is on all pregame with getting the crown into the game at all times. The guy is great at what he does. Makes a difference at lulls. * they call the hogs we have the north Texas chant * lots of stuff going on in the corridor. They sell memorabilia and stuff. This last game they had piglets for kids to hold, very popular and looked fun. * light show was cool and entrace My main thoughts was the atmosphere was hyped and fun. The most the game but guarantee the crowd was upset but still had a great time. These items seem doable but my goal would be to enlarge the band. I know this may be hard but it is the pulse of the arena. Sure if they get to play cool songs the musicians sound like to be a part of it

  3. So older alum here. I am trying to hang onto my love of college sports and North Texas athletics. I have enjoyed the resurgence of the program since Grant got here. I am also a fan of Johnny Jones and see him occasionally here in Houston area. I have learned to love our hustle defense and grinding offense. And seeing us on tv down here in Kingwood is a blast for me. So may make this two posts since doing from my phone and don’t want to make too long but have slot of thoughts FWIW

  4. The produced game day experience has felt frozen in time for multiple decades now. Really thought Wren was gonna invest in it, then had hopes for the next regime and now I just hope we finally get mops. I still remember the high of the RV memorial replay monitor coming in after the UTA loss and can’t wait to feel that way about some piddly little push brooms.

  5. The kids and parents were awesome and nice. It was just too many people behind a concession stand all over the place and kids asking questions about how to use the register.

  9. Many memories of watching him play but one that sticks out is the fumble recovered for a TD against Rice in 2013. I'm probably overreacting to a great moment but that was a legacy defining play in my opinion. Every team has good players. What separates the greats from the good are those moments where you need a play and the greats step up. I know he didn't force the fumble but he was always around the football and it paid off big that night. When I saw the Cowboys lost Dan Quinn to Washington, I had a brief moment of hope that maybe Zach Orr would be hired to replace him. The Cowboys need better linebacker play and who better than a former linebacker to come in and turn things around. As I said, it was a brief moment because I wouldn't want Orr coming to the Cowboys with Jerry Jones around. I'd rather watch Orr flourish elsewhere. Baltimore has a history of fantastic linebackers. Them putting their trust in him is huge. If he keeps their defense rolling, I can see him being an NFL HC in the next 4-5 years.

  10. That comes from continuing to shoot. Sometimes giving a shooter the "green light" means he explodes for a big game...sometimes it means they put up bricks that take you out of a game.

  11. Oh man, my bad. I thought you were trying to highlight the price being too much. Complete misread on my part.

  12. just from memory, I kinda don't blame the ref...maybe if I saw it again, but I recall it being super innocuous and thought that if we was bleeding it was bc he accidentally bit his lip. thought it was at worst a 2 on the Official Kermit Washington On-Court Punch Scale

  13. E, definitely...though I don't like the wording on B...I don't think a volume shooter is necessarily "selfish" clearly it was drawn up to get JE running downhill...one screener around the arc, one pass option short corner, one pass option opposite but with the likely thought/intent that Edwards was going to take the responsibility of the shot

  15. Buggs is a streaky shooter. He's the kind of guy who is gonna miss 15 in a row and then hit the next ten. Those kind of shooters can be frustrating, but when they're on they're world beaters.

  21. I agree with all of these but this one. Rediscover? Before this game he hit 8 straight 3s. If that's what you mean, I am sorry. It just makes it sound like he hasn't shot well in a while. Also, 8. A healthy RUBIN JONES!

  22. Anybody remember the North Texas head coach that got Zach to come to North Texas? He should get more credit for the talent he left us with.

  23. I’m confused as to why anyone thinks Dixon is a walk on…. I don’t believe so and when I tried to find out for sure, only Allo was mentioned as a walk on. Sources have confirmed to gomeangreen.com that North Texas MBB is using last scholarship to add 6’8 Forward transfer Terrance Dixon from Kilgore. Dixon averaged 8 PPG and 4 Rebs. North Texas was looking to add a lengthy 4 to the roster. It looks like they have found their guy.

  24. Maybe, but don't jump to conclusions. Most HS kids are signed with the assumption - in any sport - that they are going to grow/fill out/whatever. It's just not going to happen for 100% of them. Every now and then you have a misfire: a kid that is already maxed out, or doesn't want to put in the work, or something else. not sure what the case is with Morgan. His dad was a Mean Green great in the late 1980s. The genes are there.

  25. I'm so proud of Zach! (My adopted player from 2011-13!) We all knew he was a monster on the field. Now the world knows he's a defensive mastermind!

  26. I'm so happy for Zach! Fantastic player, undrafted, made the Ravens, and cracked the starting lineup. Unfortunately had to retire, but a rapid rise in the coaching ranks is so cool to see! I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Cobbs makes the same rise in the coaching ranks soon too!

  28. If I wasn’t a Fine fan and was looking objectively at his body of work in the CFL, I would be skeptical too. He has been more freshman year Fine than junior year Fine so far. I am rooting for the guy but he is going to have to improve to stick in the league for much longer.

  29. Well, I don't really like the Ravens, either. But they have an established defensive tradition that you have to respect. Evidently, Ravens brass sees Zach as a big enough part of that to make him a bigger part of it. Congrats to Zach!

  30. What we need: 1. A healthy Noland. 2. A healthy Allen. 3. A more aggressive Sissoko around the rim. 4. Moore and Cotton crash course prepared to play. 5. Forget his name right now, but the JUCO from Kilgore to do something. These wasted scholarships are ridiculous. 5. Play our defense the entire game. 6. Buggs to rediscover his stroke. 7. A healthy Noland and Allen.

  31. Has USF leading the AAC. They've already got as many wins as they had all of last season. Not that I'm unhappy with Hodge but Abdur-Rahim has done great things in year 1 at USF.

  36. Let’s see. Southlake Carroll has 4 state titles without Todd Dodge (3 before him and 1 since). Austin Westlake was a real downtrodden program before the “legend” got there, only going to the state final in 1990, 1994, 2000, 2001, 2006, and 2009 while winning 76% of their games all-time…and they really fell off after he left, only going a combined 28-2 (with both losses to North Shore) in the last two years. And Drew Brees was their only notable alumnus…as long as you don’t count Sam Ehlinger or Nick Foles, and this guy who was under center during Dodge’s state title wins: https://247sports.com/Player/cade-klubnik-46056879/high-school-219672/ Yeah, Dodge has been a real do more with less kinda guy. Ever taken the time to look up his coaching record when he isn’t in an ultra-affluent suburb.

  37. I saw where someone had posted that when he has coached teams that were not high-spending locations that could afford the best of everything, his teams have losing records.

  38. Led? Leading is taking a team that DOESN’T have more resources than all of its opponents to a place they haven’t been before…it is not taking an already successful program with incredible resources to the place that they will naturally reach. I’d like to see how he’d do at a place with few resources and without an established tradition of dominance…maybe a place like North Texas. Guess we’ll never know how that would turn out though. 🤔

  40. I really can't believe we're still having to do this. and all because someone is spending waaaaay too much time on YouTube. I did not make it anywhere near all the way through the podcast video (though, something is definitely going on with the comments section algorithm)...the point of which I took in what I did watch was that Floyd first said "I can't breathe" while in the police cruiser, that Floyd was on drugs at the time, and that possibly Chauvin's knee was on his shoulder, not his neck for 8 minutes...and as such the public was sold "a lie". is that about right, @ADLER ?? and did not at all watch this "documentary", which I'm sure has absolutely no agenda... what I did watch is the body-cam footage. what I saw was a man detained for a petty crime...one that if you or I committed we would either talk our way out of as an accident or be ticketed for, so long as we didn't have a brief case full of fake $20s on our person. what I saw was a man scared of the police detaining him, scared of the prospect of being arrested and then subsequently cuffed improperly and painfully...all leading to a heightened state. what I saw was a man begging for police to adjust his cuffs before he got into the police cruiser. what I saw was a man clearly having a medical episode while being forced into a police cruiser and clearly in fear of his own life. if this gets to be an argument for panic-behavior in a trained and armed police officer (or 4, in this case), I'd say it's an argument for one being detained too what I saw was a man having a medical episode dragged to the ground, all still while cuffed, and an officer keep him pinned on the concrete, right night to a presumably running exhaust pipe. what I saw was the life go out of a man's body...and a "public servant and safety officer" continue to keep a dead body pinned for at least three minutes while finally a medical call was placed, initially as a "no-lights" emergency, before being upgraded what I saw was a lifeless body being put on a stretcher...STILL IN CUFFS...and no effort being made to resuscitate until after he was on the ambulance. again, all for something that you and I would've just walked away from. George Floyd died that day because of, at bare minimum, depraved indifference from the Minneapolis police department and the officers responsible needed accountability.

  41. Actor Carl Weathers, known for a wide range of iconic film and TV roles, including “Rocky,” “The Mandalorian” "Happy Gilmore" "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" and “Predator,” has died. He was 76. Weathers “died peacefully in his home” on Thursday. A cause of death was not revealed.

  44. 1. would be shocked if he plays. he looked in a ton of pain. if he did his groin significantly, we might be hoping he's ready for the conference tourney 2. he might keep the mask another game, but I expect he'll be feeling more himself 3. a duck is a duck is a duck 4. I wish, but I doubt it. we're gonna get 40 minutes of Edwards trying to run point solo and 20-25 minutes of Stone before the kids get thrown in. I hate it b/c the flashes we saw, more last year than this, impressed me, but I'm guessing Moore is done here. when you're a second year PG and your starter goes out and you can't sniff the court while a shooting guard and mini-point-forward manage the ball-handling, it's not a good sign 5. Dixon? he's a walk-on. Morgan on the other hand has taken a scholarship for near 3 seasons now and has scored a whole 6 points in that time. 6. his heater was unsustainable and he's a streaky shooter. law of averages says he was due an 0-fer. that said, he's probably back in the starting line-up and should get more opportunities 7. fingers crossed, I guess
