  1. Just wanted to extend my wishes and thoughts to my father and to all of the other fathers out there and to remembering the great times with those who are no longer with us. There are many good things in life, but I can not think of any greater than being a father. Nice message from ESPN's Stephen A Smith http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=31661625

  2. This will be the first year I take my boy to a UNT game... So a very happy fathers day year. My daughter wasn't as into it... But really looking forward to some solid games with my son!

  3. If she chose to leave UNT to transfer to OU due to their people and culture doesn't that imply that UNT's lack thereof was why she left?

  5. I agree. Hope was a involved student-athlete at UNT, was named the CUSA Community Spirit Student of the Year, and graduated from UNT. I don't see any discontent with UNT, but the opportunity to compete at a higher level. I believe I read she had the goal of playing professional softball. If so, going to Oklahoma is a step in getting to that goal. I think she made a tremendous contribution to UNT an wish her well. Send us all the athletes like her you want and we will benefit. And, yes, she should go into the Hall of Fame.

  6. Each person has to make their own choice and that's fine for them. Our HOF is about as watered down as it can be, but I personally would prefer if they moved on that they not be a part of it.

  8. As fall shifted into winter, men’s and women’s basketball began with high hopes. Led by a breakout season from sophomore forward Quincy Noble, women’s basketball achieved its most Conference USA wins ever (11). The Mean Green finished No. 3 in the C-USA West regular-season standings, clinching a dance with Old Dominion University in the C-USA tournament. Although forward Emma Villas-Gomis dropped 24 points against ODU, the team fell 71-66 to end its campaign. The men’s basketball team, led by head coach Grant McCasland, made North Texas history during its season. Having a similar regular season to the women’s team, men’s basketball also finished No. 3 in the C-USA West. However, the men were able to win the C-USA tournament with a couple of emotional victories versus Louisiana Tech University and Western Kentucky University. With those wins, men’s basketball clinched a spot in the NCAA tournament as a No. 13-seed versus No. 4-seed Purdue University. In the most iconic win in North Texas history, guard Javion Hamlet led an upset victory over the Boilermakers, marking the first NCAA tournament win in program history. Men’s basketball ultimately fell in the Round of 32 to Villanova University, but the win put the program on the map nationally. read more: https://www.ntdaily.com/column-reflecting-on-one-of-the-best-sports-years-in-north-texas-history/

  9. SPOILER: The article does not say she left Denton because of people and culture. It says she chose OU because of their people and culture.

  11. •••I give it 6.5 to 7 stars out of 10. It started out slow but ended fast. Weatherford’s Pythian Home off Bankhead Highway was featured as the FW Masonic School. Mineral Wells Baker Hotel was used in the shooting as was other recognizable venue in the North Texas area. ••• Martin Sheen did a more than commendable acting job as Doc. •••Luke Wilson was good as Coach Rusty Russell. •••Treat Williams played the part of FW’s Amon Carter. Comedian Ron White, Robert Duval & Matthew McConaughey’s brother were also in the movie. “Newman!” from Jerry Seinfeld played a villainous role. •••Featured in the credits were the original Orphans with bios on each. 3 of them attended 🦅 North Texas. ••• I saw Weatherford acquaintance Congressman Roger Williams in a bit part as a referee. (How ironic that Roger Williams Dodge dealership was right next door to the theater I saw “12 Mighty Orphans.” https://www.sonyclassics.com/film/12mightyorphans/

  12. Cozy .. Holds 5K. Rumor is that to avoid issues with the NCAA's 15K policy they will be hiring the firm that takes attendance at SMU home games https://footballscoop.com/news/a-look-at-hawaiis-temporary-home-for-this-fall

  16. From my Little League days in Fort Worth. Roger was a teammate. His father, Jack Williams, was our sponsor and a great one at that! When we were 13, Roger hit a buck forty two at best. He worked his tail off and had a nice baseball career.

  18. Question to all: When will UNT be considered “a higher level”? And I’m not talking about a player transferring to UNT from some “uT-Tyler” level program.

  19. I don’t think we have offered but creating a separate thread for him because it looks like an interesting situation. Currently a ‘21 recruit with some 2020 P5 offers but recently tweeted he was going back to his JUCO. So not sure if this is a late push to get him on campus this fall or now we are treating him like a normal ‘22 recruit. Originally from Plano and a 87 rating. https://247sports.com/player/shemar-pearl-94261/

  20. They probably should’ve just moved their games to the ninth Island which is Las Vegas. They could’ve played their games at Sam Boyd Stadium and probably had 10,000 fans each game in attendance. Not kidding. Go Bows

  22. I'm serious about that duck pond island being turned into a champions monument pavilion. Don January, arguably one of our greatest golfers and a loyal alumnus that has been incredibly generous with both his time and money, turns 92 in November. How long would we really want to wait?

  26. After everything that Hope accomplished on behalf of NT, I find some of your views preposterous. Sure she is going to OKlahoma to experience the height of big time softball. How many athletes at NT would leave for an offer from UT or OU? Hint, probably most of them. That is the issue with the current transfer policy, not just the extra year this time; but allowing an one time transfer with no penalty. It is and is going to continue to let P5's raid G5's at will. Back to Trautwein, I think most students know or should know that a graduate degree means more if it a different institution than where the bachelor degree was earned. Maybe we should put a lot more restrictions on the HOF, like you have to graduate which would eliminate the biggest name and a lot others. Trautwein is and should be a shoo-in for the NT HOF. It is what an athlete accomplished at NT, and it should not be anything else.

  27. I'm awful at tact, so I'm going to continue to get downvotes for talking about this, but I find It interesting. Fun with hypotheticals: Cobbs is one of our all-time beloved loyalists. What if he graduated the same year he led the country in rushing, then was offered by USC or an SEC school? Same with Quinn? Or Mason? ...is it so painful to imagine them playing that card? ...we as fans are extremely loyal to our dream school. A lot of athletes are loyal to...their sport. To playing for free. Opportunities to play at the highest level and pursue The League. That pursuit comes FIRST, to climb the ladder and open the doors of change. At the end of the day, the school is secondary to that pursuit, but that doesn't mean they are not thankful. Or that there was something wrong with the previous relationship.

  28. The link is WaltParkerDrive , it links you to the Blue Lot behind Apogee. Just kidding. I actually just stopped by yesterday to see the new facility. I think it would be nice if the university placed a monument to our 4 Golf National Championships on the 'duck pond' island located directly in front of the new golf facility. Make it a National Champions Park. Four national championships and three second-place finishes during an 8 year period deserves more recognition than it's been getting.

  29. P: Rodriguez was effective although I am more a fan of the traditional punting as opposed to the “rugby style.” K: Mooney needs to find his accuracy again but he has the ability to be all-conference. Return Game: DHG was hurt a majority of last year. Torrey is fine as a KR and there is enough skill position talent to find a PR.

  32. Yeah... I'm sure your ECU vs Temple ratings are banging. Or should I switch over to the Tulsa vs Memphis game? Or the Tulane at USF game in USF's empty NFL stadium? You guys have a good media contract. But ultimately nobody cares about your games all that much either, regardless of how good your commish is at negotiating.
