As a Dons fan, I was surprised to see the negativity here directed towards Simmons. From what I saw last night, he's the only skilled big on the UNT roster (Arikawe is energetic, but not particularly talented). 10 points, 22 boards for a freshman post, and people are hating on him? Ouch. I think Simmons will be a good one for you.4 points

I guess if he is calling coaching as an assistant at Nevada for about the same money he was making as a head coach here out of a job. Then yeah, he's out of a job.4 points

I can just see his half of the conversation if he takes the job: ”Baby, we gotta move the kids because I got a P5 job.” ”No, not OU...not OSU...no dear, not USC...it’s Tech.” ”No, no Virginia Tech...nope, not Georgia Tech either, it’s Texas Tech. Yes, in Lubbock” ”Well, yeah I guess you and the kids could come to visit on weekends...oh, wait you meant they could visit...and only on holidays? It’s not ideal but I guess I’ll take it...”3 points

No, not the biggest. Those would be our Conference Tournament Championship games and our NCAA Tournament games. That said: It's still a very big game and I really want to force game three of this series.3 points

I've got 9 people coming with me, most of which have never been to a UNT game before. You guys better bring it!!3 points

Sorry, but after Monday's letdown it is going to take me a little time to get back in the mood...3 points

No, everything that I have heard Littrell is more valued among the college ranks than Wilson. Most look at Wilson as a Recruiter only, and Littrell as a guy with a ton of football knowledge. There is a place for both of them, however I think (non-MG goggles) Littrell will always be a better hire because of the way college game is evolving. If Littrell's staff were able to recruit at even a semi-close rate of Wilson I do not think he would be here today. I also heard he turned down multiple jobs (no I didn't ask which ones) because he likes Denton and the community. He knows he can win consistently here and compete for Championships. You move to a big time conference and have a bad year or two (5-7 6-6) you are probably getting canned.3 points

Hello mates, Mean Green fan and graduate of '79 reaching out to you from across the pond. Does any one think that UNT to the Big 12 is even a remote possibility within the next decade? Granted, the conference might not exist by then but I've heard that a potential membership would require our athletic department to net over $25 million annually to even be considered. Surely with the development efforts we've seen in the last two years (both on the court/field/etc. and in the business side), it is not THAT crazy to believe we can be competing in a power five conference. Why not UNT and UH? Adding two state schools with more than 38,000 students and a demonstrable upward trajectory in multiple sports seems like a win-win in a few years. Not to mention, adding UH to the Big 12 could possibly hurt TAMUS recruiting which I am sure more than a few current Big 12 member schools would like.2 points

Nothing to see here. In no way does this indicate Littrell is unhappy in Denton. This is likely just his agent working as he should for his client. It would've been noteworthy if he had submitted a resume for a G5 program...an SEC program, not so much. The only issue I have is with the fact that this information is now public - forcing him to address it with the locker room and his staff to make sure no one feels a disloyalty on his part. I trust he's already done this by now.2 points

this will be Littrell's "Free Agent" year, when most folks expect that third year upswing/full results from a coach. This is also the year that other program's will look at a first time HC and see how he is progressing. a lot rides on this season, and if he gets hired away after this season, it means that UNT has had a great season.2 points

Illinois center/forward Michael Finke 6'10, 230 lbs. is leaving Illinois as a grad transfer. Not sure if he would fit in McCasland's system but he's a big body and averaged over 8 a game in the big ten. Might be worth kicking the tires on him.2 points

With a coaching record of 14-13 and no conference championships or bowl wins Littrell still has a way to go before he is a true contender for a P5 job. GMG2 points

THE DRIVE It says across the top: 1:07 in the game. 98 yards. No time outs Our new graphics people are amazing. Huge props to WB and company for giving us things like this. Hat tip to SUMG for picking this one up at the ticket office and sending me a pic. Rick2 points

Welcome to the board! As to your question, it seems sensible, but it's highly unlikely. They're not going to add schools just to add schools. It seems non-Texas B12 schools don't want any more Texas schools. We don't have a history of conference affiliation with the B12 institutions. TCU did, which contributed to their making the jump. UH and SMU do, so they are likely ahead of us in line. Whatever upward trajectory we might be observing, it is still well below what other teams accomplished prior to making the jump to P5 (e.g., Utah, TCU). We need to be talking prolonged national rankings just for starters. Look at what UCF did last year, and I still don't know of any P5 conferences interested in adding them. Right now, we are a long shot to make the AAC. And that's where the B12 is going to go scrounging for new members, or possibly the MWC. No team is going to go straight from the current incarnation of C-USA to a P5 conference. Hope to see more of your posts!2 points

Are tickets sold out? I keep getting an Oops message when trying to purchase through ticket office.2 points

The AD is known as a clown. Wants to hire his buddy who's an assistant at Texas Tech which will be an epic fail. AD and President are both fools. It's a surefire bet this will crash and burn on them.2 points

So I can't comment on the Johnny Jones part of that assertion as I don't spend a LOT of time in the basketball forum. But as to the former name contained therein, I can say with great certainty that I don't recall Rick ever giving the man an iota of credit for anything -- ever.2 points

I mean...it may move in 2026, but I've heard it was gonna move from the Cotton Bowl for at least 20 years now. I'll believe it when it happens.2 points

I can't say for certain, but I believe the original post and title of this thread were tongue in cheek. Usually every conference tourney (and the two times we made the NCAAs) going back the last dozen seasons or so...all of those games are called the biggest in the history of western civilization. It's become a yearly tradition once March basketball begins.1 point

This year will be a big test because my understanding is that Tech is very high on both Littrell and Neal Brown to replace Klifford.1 point

Well, taking time out to type up a 9 paragraph post in an attempt to compare Scott Cross's firing by his boss to fan criticism of Johnny Jones, then I'd say your well on your way. Welcome back. Rick1 point

I could live with that if it's a need and comes with some cuts. But here's the thing that guys like 66 don't get. This bill was 2,232 pages long and because of POS's leaders like Schumer and McConnell....congress was only given 17 hours to read it before being able to decide on what's a need or not. So unless they stuudied at the Evelyn Woods school of speed reading...your representative and mine didn't get a chance to vet it.. Therefore, you and I....we didn't get to have a say. We're losing our representative republic and no one seems to give a $#!+ about it. Pisses me off man...as it should everyone else. Rick1 point

I'm not so sure you checked any facts at all? The GOP lost the House and Senate in '06, and didn't regain it again until January 2014. As for your numbers... Per your link and your source... Trump's debt he inherited: $18,678,888,650,517.82 minus Obama's debt he inherited: $9,007,653,372,262.48 = $9,671,235,278,255.34 Obama, with a democrat controlled congress until January 2014 more than doubled our debt overall, and raised it to the point where it tripled the debt from what it was when Clinton left office ($5,674,178,209,886.86). Also,....I'm not dismissing it as being ok at all as I hated that Bush signed his '07 bailout, but per your source....Bush increased the debt $3,333,475,162,375.62 in his 8 years in office. That's only a third of what Obama's increase was from January '08 to January '17. But to you,.....that's when the debt went crazy. It was Bush' $3 Trillion increase as to when things REALLY came unhinged around here......not Obama's more than $9 Trillion increase, right? Rick1 point
