  1. DRC: UNT's coaches like what former running back is showing on defense, where he played part time in high school http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/mean-green/2018/03/15/football-change-plans-could-pay-siggers-now-safety-unt

  2. How does this impact conference payout?

  3. CUSA 5-0 in post season tournaments now. Middle should have been dancing, but this is looking great for the conference.

  4. As with any failure in manufacturing or construction the builder attempts to mitigate liability. This is done in thousands of different ways but the easiest is to "confidentially" tell a press guy about this new technology and intimating that it could have something to do with it. The press guy runs with it and you have 100 paid experts ready to tell you how it could have caused a failure. Let the investigation play out. This was a 950 ton structure that had just been put in place. It was not fully tied in nor were the support cables set as the were being tightened when the collapse occurred. I will bet is was not caused by faulty concrete. Self-cleaning concrete was invented in 1997 has been used without fail since 2003. The nanotechnology of adding titanium dioxide (TiO2) actually strengthens concrete. Making it photocatalytic requires manipulating the material to create extremely fine nanotechnology-sized particles with a different atomic structure. Self-cleaning concrete is an effective alternative to provide cleaner environment which contribute to sustainability and towards a green environment.

  6. South Dakota is a quality program. A look at their schedule reveals the following: Lost by 5 at TCU. Beat Southern Miss by 13 Played Duke tough before losing 96-80 on the road. Lost by 3 at UCLA. Only lost 2 home games all year. We beat them by 13 on their home court. Quality win. Oh, and a shout out to the officials. That was a well called game. CUSA officials could learn a thing or two from them.

  10. 13-0 baby! (I can't find the article anymore. Did that poor bastard retract it?) John Whisler was the author. Searching through all his articles in the MySA, I see everything he wrote last year -- except 13-0. Edit: Found it! Never forget!

  12. While both pay typical "production costs" ESPN charges $1,500 on top of that for ESPN3. Not sure what ESPN+ will be. I only know that because Wren said in an interview last year the school paid more money to put the football games up on ESPN 3 instead of CUSA.tv. From a user standpoint, I like ESPN 3. I typically use the Watch ESPN 3 app on my apple TV even for the linear broadcasts so it would be a one stop shop rather than a mixture. Best guess SBC will get $200-250 after expenses. CUSA will get about $400k. CUSA wins on revenue, SBC wins on reach (ESPN has more viewers than CBSSN). Sadly, neither is too much to get excited about.

  14. That was the season before my freshman year. I thought "Oh hell yeah. North Texas is going to be awesome in football and basketball when I get there!? Nope.

  15. Did a little summarizing of everything I read at CUSA Report. It sounds better than the last deal and definitely better than the Sun Belt's deal. I don't think we can expect much better considering the options out there. This league is full of smallish fan bases and so for that reason I think any deal that would require non-Saturday games would be bad for the league. Each program has to focus resources toward building the game day experience and then that should translate to better ratings and then better deals over a longer period of time.

  16. UNT whooped us tonight. Whether we cared, why should UNT care about a game like this either? They showed you have talent and I wish you luck next season. Go Mean Green who have always been one of my favorite mascots in the nation.

  17. This information comes from the NMSU Chancellor and is linked below for authenticty: Activity Report March 3 – March 9 By Office of President | Published March 13, 2018 Chancellor Garrey Carruthers "While at the WAC Basketball Tournament, I met with the Presidents and Athletic Directors of the WAC schools to discuss business as well as the challenges facing the Conference regarding membership. The WAC is initiating an aggressive membership campaign. Commissioner Jeff Hurd said “something was going to happen and happen soon” regarding conference alignments and realignments. One rumor was the Mountain West would become a 16-member conference with two-8 member divisions. NMSU could come into play as a new member, along with UTEP." https://president.nmsu.edu/activity-report-march-3-march-9/

  18. Kermit Davis is out at Middle Tenn...signed on to try to revive the Ole Miss program. Will Middle stay Middle or will we see a fall? I think Middle will find a new coach that keeps them in the top of CUSA. But, you never know. We shall see.

  24. 6 dead, 10 injured. One of the deceased is a student. They have now shifted to a body recovery operation. Of all the assignments I've been on, or potentially face in the future...attempting to free the trapped from under collapsed concrete is one I dred the most. Rick

  26. Another tragic reminder that life can be taken from you when you least expect it. You shouldn't have to worry about bridges collapsing onto to you. My thoughts are with the victims and their close ones. And I pray that those survivors make full physical and mental recoveries.

  29. Not going to lie, I gave us no chance vs SD. Even without it being in the CBI this is very good win. Which got me thinking- how many times in my twenty five years of NT fandom have we played a game in which I thought we had NO chance and we ended up winning. The list is pretty small but off the top of my head- We beat Boise in 98 and 99 when we weren't very good and they were. At the start of DD's run we were 1-5 I believe and beat a very good and hyped up MTSU at Fouts. One of Trilli's teams went to UCSB and crushed the Gauchos when UCSB was decent. Uh...er....maybe JJ had one of those but I'm not remembering one. But that's also a testament to believing JJ's teams always had a chance. Strangely enough I thought we had a chance in both our wins at Texas Tech. There has to be more.

  31. Two things 1) Depending on how you view things in 2018, that might seem to some to be a rather archaic practice 2) If they are tasked with guiding football recruits around at games, they should be the LAST people on campus making videos like that Edit: Well this explains why I've never heard of them:

  39. As someone that only pays for internet and streams everything, I'm all for stadium. ESPN3 blows chunks. The stream qualities are always very inconsistent, which is infuriating. I like the idea behind stadium and that way we're not sharing the same emaciated (relative to the traffic they get) servers as all the other schools on ESPN. I liked BeINs coverage though. The only thing wrong with stadium and BeIN is the commentators. I don't understand why they don't use local media for the sportscasting.

  41. I tend to agree with you. Downside is we lose ESPN but we had very few linear games on anyway. The SBC is more ESPN+ than anything which will be a subscription streaming service. This gives us more national linear games, gets on facebook which has a huge audience, and more money. ESPN shit on us long ago. They basically got our games for free this last deal. CBS is actually paying something. Would love to see CUSA staff push to get our champ game on big CBS and CBSSN

  42. This kind of attitude is what is wrong with OUR school. We get something new, its going to bring us more money & exposure. And them someone comes and shits on it, because they want something.

  43. All that is very true, and it further underlines the point that DFW has no business hosting 4 bowl games (plus the FCS championship game).

  44. That's not gonna happen. Frisco rolls out the red carpet big time for that game. Denton doesn't support two universities located in Denton. Frisco knows how to attract teams and events. Hell, the PGA is moving to Frisco now.
    1 point
  45. We should try to get the FCS championship game from Frisco. More seats without being to big, a true football stadium, club seating, etc. We just need to take down Fouts and get more parking.
