  2. Firefighter Rick and UNT 90 make me hate everything

  3. I remember that earlier this year someone complained about somebody stealing their flag... I just wanted to report that the flag thief was back on Saturday... as after coming back from the game, not only was the flag gone, but the pole that it is on is gone as well... freaking idiots... I hope your car gets smashed into while sitting in a parking lot and no one leaves insurance information... (but no one gets hurt)

  4. 1) you said DT didn't have stat lines like that. He had plenty throughout his career. And this is also comparing victory to victory. 2) it does fit the argument. That the defense, special teams and running game carried the team. DT was an avg QB with the 3 other main areas being way above average. If you could choose between having DT back or having last years D, Special teams, and running game back which would you choose? Which would get this team further? QB play is further down the list than a lot of other areas.

  5. While I see your point UNT90, there is also a long history of cities with friendly business reputations for "getting things done" that have long-term negative consequences for their people. I don't want to generalize but this is a football forum and a thread on a message board so I will. There is a precedent for businesses to benefit from "business-friendly" cities, using up the resources, then leaving when it dries up. The citizens are left with the consequences. In this particular case I think it was excellent weighing of the costs (unknown long term damage to kids, health that costs big $$) vs the benefits (1% of Denton economy + some vague sense of attractiveness to monolithic "business"). Given that Denton has a growing tech reputation, I think this ban serves two purposes -- protecting health, and also creating a positive environment that a certain kind of person wants to live an work in.

  6. Yeah, let's not mention 2 vital pick sixes that put us out of reach that took place in 2 of those games. Let's leave those out, fits your agenda way better. Let's mention our great running game in some of those games as you did, but let's not reiterate the below 50% completion percentage while pounding the rock with a ton of success. Oh and let's not forget the 8td 10int during conference play of the great HOF season. If you're going to throw stats, throw them equally. What was his completion % in conference play? Like 53%? Quit being clowns and praising mediocracy. Let's strive for better, way better.

  7. I thought the crowd was loud and seemed into the game. It made for a fun evening and a good homecoming game.

  10. I have major respect for them too. I'm just sick of everything coming back to DT on this board. They are the two that week after week keep bringing him up. He's gone, lets move on.

  11. Anyone ever have to stare at a drill going full bore at 230am right outside their home? I have and it sucks a fat one. I lived at the Meadows of Hickory Creek near Argyle and the drills were set up on either side of our neighborhood. One literally was right across the street from me. The pompous energy companies could give 2 shits about residents. Tearing up neighborhood roads and working at all hours of the night, giving us residents the middle finger. Drill into the shale outside of the city limits, not in my freaking backyard....

  12. We just witnessed one of the two best played games of the year and it spawned one of the dumbest threads of the year. Thompson doesn't play anymore and had absolutely nothing to do with this or any other games this year. Some of you would be down on any qb, NT has ever had. Maher, Davis, Ramsey, Carlin, Hall, Case, etc.; all had bad games and lots of bad plays. NT won a game, something I doubted would happen after the first half of the season. With the QB performances NT has had this year, I was happy with what I saw Saturday. It was not great, but it led to the best victory of the year. I wish some of you would pick another position other than QB to analyze. I am sure you would find plenty to criticize with any other player and at least it would be a change.

  16. Yeah, putting aside the arguments of what fracking chemicals can or cannot do to the environment and health of nearby residents, there is no doubt on the following side effects of fracking: - It's loud, 24 hours a day. - It's an eyesore. - It uses tens of thousands of gallons of water for each drilling site. - It required hundreds of trucks rumbling through our neighborhood well over the speed limit and tearing up our roads. - It puts SOMETHING into the air (our cars were coated by some kind of greasy film every morning for 3 months) Put this less than 200 feet from your back door, and it will certainly change your mind. It changed mine.

  17. Frankly you're both moving the goalposts quite a bit.

  18. Good job moving the goalposts again. The original point was that Republicans haven't been the progressive party on civil rights when that they once were, nobody is arguing the great deeds done by Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt or any Reconstructionist Republican congressman that were considered radical leftists in their time. I know what you meant, I didn't miss the point. You can beat your chest about Utah electing a black Republican all you want, but they're a deep red state who will elect just about anyone with an R next to their name, especially in a conservative-leaning district. That's really nothing to crow about when Democrats have been electing black congresswomen, senators, governors and even a President for 50 years. Not to mention they'll be the first to nominate and elect a woman for President in 2 years too.

  21. No, not usually. A majority of Americans believe in Creationism, a 6,000 year old earth, & that 'Survivor' is classy entertainment. Many believe our president is a muslim who was born in Kenya, Indonesia, Hawaii, or some other foreign country. The same folks believe in flying saucers, Big Foot, and the cupracabra. https://www.google.com/search?q=Brian+Burns+Urban+legends Project much?

  22. I though about Dustin McWhorter too. Dustin committed to the Mean Green at the Friday Night Lights event. Dustin has been committed to North Texas long before the FNL event. Dustin told the staff he would play DT too. To me, McWhorter was the type of player NT was looking for! I was hoping NT would gain commitments from both players! Now, Texas State has both McWhorter and Cheathum on their side! I have some friends in Graham TX. The entire town supports their football program. I have heard several comments for my friends. I do not think NT will be able to recruit Graham any time soon. North Texas is not popular in Graham TX right now.

  23. The issue of whether this affects UNT quarterback recruiting pushed aside, I really can't wait for that glorious day when the spread offense falls from fashion. It really does look like nothing more than sixth grade recess two hand touch everybody go long and hope for the best to me.

  24. At least during Presidential cycles, the number of Americans who vote a Democrat/liberal ticket far outnumber those who vote a Republican/conservative ticket - but due to vote diffusion/concentration isn't visible in the House of Representatives, which has seen a tightening grip by the GOP. I haven't analyzed the results of the most recent elections to see if the pattern holds. Climate change is real whether you want to admit it or not. That doesn't necessarily mean global warming as localized climates record below-average temperatures, but the vast preponderance of evidence suggests that Earth's climate is changing, and the rate of change can only reasonably be explained by man's actions. There's a reason why every other western nation has a form of national health care system and higher life expectancy and mother outcomes along with lower infant mortality. Part of the reason why the ACA garners as much hate as it does is because some don't think it goes far enough (i.e. a single payer system is necessary: like Medicare). The other interesting yet contradictory point is nearly every central tenet of the ACA, when taken in isolation, is approved by a vast majority. It's only when it's tied to the ACA./"Obamacare" that disapproval rates skyrocket. Given the almost 60 straight months of private job-sector growth (while government hiring has slowed or decreased over the same period) provides evidence that the ACA probably isn't having much, if any, effect on hiring. We're talking about the issue of the fracking ban, not generally the midterms, but on that the GOP ought to have expected to pick up the Senate given the electoral map they faced - though Democrats ought to have done better in terms of absolute number of votes cast and the gubernatorial races. Losing Illinois, Maryland, and Massachusetts governor mansions is inexcusable. Messaging and GOTV efforts stymied the Democrats this cycle, but it's interesting that even in a wave election for the GOP near every progressive ballot initiative passed by a wide margin - the only reason Florida's attempt to legalize medical marijuana failed was it fell 2% short of the 60% mark needed. The flip side is that all the fetal personhood amendments failed. So we have the ironic and contradictory situation where the conservative candidate near-swept the available seats running on a primarily "we're not Obama" platform while all the progressive issues that could have been a central party platform for the Democrats (but weren't, for various reasons) passed. The GOP should be cock-a-hoop that their election campaign dovetailed with a Democratic implosion to give them historic number of seats in Congress. But most warn that they now need to do something with the majorities they hold that benefit the majority of Americans rather than the perceived narrow band. If they don't, 2016 could be just as ugly for them as 2014 was for Democrats.

  30. No excuses, however, a big portion of our crowd had kids with them, in that weather and temperatures getting colder than expected many kids looked unprepared (clothing wise) for that weather and parents took them home. That's my guess. Man that student section was rocking. I believe this ship will right itself, that many kids still believe? That feeds into our guys. Let's go!!!

  33. Tell me which QB on the roster currently is capable of consistently putting up those numbers? If McNulty ends up being DT Version 2 for the rest of this year and next season I will take that over what I've seen from Greer and DW this season.

  41. What is the problem with showing other games? When you go to suites at other games they always have on espn or abc showing other sporting events. The store always has on other games. It's ok because your within 30 feet of seeing UNT play.

  43. Make you wonder why she was beat out of the first team all conference goaltender position by a UTEP player which was behind her in all the statistics. Speaking of that, you would have thought Rice won the regular season championship looking at the post season awards. Rice had three first team CUSA players including the midfielder of the year and the offensive player of the year plus coach of the year. Counting all three teams named plus the freshman team, Rice had 7 players recognized versus NT's three with no POY's awards. Hope that is enough to really fire up the NT girls on Sunday.

  44. You kinda make it sound like it will be an easy win for the oil companies to win their litigation. If so, why would they have spent so much money campaigning against the proposition? I agree that it is going to hurt the City's pocketbook, and I wonder if this was taken into account (the lawsuits if passed) when sending this to a vote.
