  1. He was talking about how great of a coach Peterson is... then said 'UNT and Peterson will be a great ALLIANCE... if you know what I mean'... all the while snubbing his nose... when he said the word 'Alliance' he looked directly at the camera and winked... Peterson and RV then looked at each other at laughed heartily... then he turned to Vito and put his fingers over his lips in a 'shhhh' fashion... things then went back to normal

  2. I heard Karen Aston was taking the job...says she thought that was the "UT" she was going to in the first place.

  3. What are the odds that your two head basketball coaches both have their dream jobs come open on the same year, and both are selected? Even making it most far fetched both dream jobs are with the very top of the athletic food chain and both despite many protests from their fans, selected lowly Belt coaches. By my count NT has only had four HC's move up to higher ground in the last fifty years. A couple of them were here only a year and were not big loses, Harry Miller in MBB and Cherrie Rapp in WBB. The other two were Fry and Jerry Moore which I still don't understand. So in really, NT has lost one coach before this year that was a real loss; Fry. Now this year we are down two. Many may discount Aston because she was here only a year, but she may be as good a coach as ever worked at NT. Jones was solid and orchestrated an amazing program turnaround and left arguably being the best ever basketball coach at NT. The best and the worse, is that both basketball teams should have had great seasons ahead. The best is with the right hire, the teams should still have tremendous seasons, the worse is that because of coaching changes the odds of having those seasons is substantially reduced. Both coaches left the team well stocked with good players, now it is up to the new coaches to build upon what has been established. Fry left a loaded team with about everyone back from a 10-1 season, NT made the wrong hire and it quickly turned to dust and it was not because of players leaving. NT seems to never be able to get over the hump, rare success is usually followed by failure. Now is the time, that trend is reversed and NT build a program based on a foundation of good coaches not the rare exception that can win at NT.

  6. We don't. We need the right coach. This insistance upon only hiring D-1 head coaches because hiring Dodge and Stephens were train wrecks is the same logic Tom Hicks used in not spending money on the Rangers...well I tried with Chan Ho and it didn't work so I'm not trying again. The template wasn't broken...just the decision. That said...no to this dude...I don't want anyone associated with Buzz Williams near this program. I still think my short list is Capel and Forrest.

  14. Just my opinion, which has absolutely no bearing on who ends up in what conference. La-La fans are great, welcoming and supportive of their conference mates (when they aren't playing the Cajuns). All I have ever experienced from La Tech fans is a superiority complex towards the Sun Belt including the FB coach and AD making backhanded remarks last year. Karma's a ... just ask Earl.

  16. I would really love a Theus & Forrest combo. I don't know if he would stay on but , let's still try to do everything we can keep SF if he's not going to be the guy. Sadler , Marlin, Benford = no thanks Lutz is Forrest. Great , great recruiter I expect a name to emerge thats not on that list , Vito was pretty off when he 1st came out with a women's list. I think these are all just guesses on his part

  18. If you'll run some numbers you'll find that Middle Tennessee is well qualified as a moveup to CUSA. They are continually first or second in the Bubas Cup standings. They have good facilities in all sports. They are in a large market and have a budget larger than ours. As to the name, I'm hoping that they'll drop the State and just become Middle Tennessee University or the University of Middle Tennessee. Then maybe they'll take a page from the University of Southern Mississippi and become "Middle Tenn". That would shorten it enough to fit most marquees. It works for Southern Miss; it could work for Middle Tennessee. Besides, CUSA needs to return to 12 members to fulfill the TV requirements with Fox, which calls for a championship game. The eight current members and the additions of North Texas, FIU, Louisiana Tech, and Middle Tenn would return the conference to full strength and allow for a championship game. Finally, UTEP is a member of CUSA and since the leagues are remaining separate for now I see no reason for them to move.

  21. techdawg88, I don't think it's a matter of hate but moreso a matter of some of your fellow alums condescending arrogance from BB&B toward all the rest of us through the years. For certain we've all done our share of smack from time to time, but some of your fellow Dawg' compadres in the opinion of many (even beyond our elect) were going a bit over the top. Yet.............if ever there was a new conference rivalry that started from 2 college-based message boards it would be both of our schools because we have ourselves (admittedly) counter-pointed many of BB&B's posters points for darn sure. GMG!

  25. The fact that UTSA is a garbage football team playing in a beat up off-campus stadium with no history and yet another hyphen school filled with full of UT fans makes me not want them in CUSA. Add the fact that there's no tailgating experience, and this is

  26. Draw a 300 mile circle around Denton and look at ALL FBS schools in that area. Play any FBS school that will play us home and home games. We need to build rivalries. If they suck it will give us easy FBS wins that will help us build a winning record and go to a bowl every year. Wins will put excited fans in the stands. Wins against UTSA and Tx St are better than bad losses on the road at LSU and Alabama. Follow the lead of other schools that have stepped up to bigger conferences. They did not get there by playing 7 road game against the toughest schedule they could come up with. This isn't rocket science.

  28. This is huge. Clarkson was one of the Top 5 prospects in Texas when he signed with Tulsa. He's a great player. Would love to have him here! Clarkson and Mitchell together would be dynamite! But, we don't have a coach.... Tulsa will tank under Danny Manning. That may not be a fair thing to say about a guy who's been on the job for a couple of weeks, but...you lose your top player right off the bat, it's a problem.

  31. Another little bit of useless history. Fry's team played La Tech, La Tech was close to the top of what was than considered small colleges in football, NT won if my memory is correct, 40-0. The point of this story is that NT had a good year and would have been a top candidate for the Independence Bowl but La Tech was already in as the opponent. Obviously, the Bowl wanted no part of a repeat slaughter so NT was passed over.

  37. I wonder if these 3 have any history together whatsoever? Wonder how the chemistry will be between them? Also, isn't it funny that many at SMoo thought they were too good for JJ, yet will eventually end up with a FAR less successful former UNT head coach who had no real success here and depending on what you believe, was shown the door at UNT. I guess a 72 year old Has been, a very good in his prime has been, but.a has been none the less, is enough to make this easier to swallow?? Massive fail.

  39. Why? What does this case have to do with gun laws or stand your ground laws? IF Zimmerman was attacked then he had the right to defend himself. If he wasn't, then he's guilty of murder. Done and done. No need to evaluate gun laws or self defense laws. He's either guilty of murder or he isn't. ...unless you don't believe someone should be legally protected if they defend themselves, in which case I don't think we'll find much common ground.

  41. This isn't an attack, but I've gotta ask - When CNN Says that it was "Coon", you believe it. Now that they claim it's really "Cold", you don't? ...and the fact that not ONLY has CNN admitted to this mistake, but now ABC and NBC have had to admit the audio and videos have been doctored, you still buy this is a racially motivated case or crime? The question you have to ask yourself is simple. Why? Why have 3 of the biggest media outlets had to back track or apologize at this point? ...if the evidence supported their coverage of the story and their demonization of George Zimmerman, why doctor the evidence? Even if Zimmerman were a Klansman, he wouldn't be guilty for shooting somebody who was beating him savagely. If Trayvon Martin were a Black Panther, it would still be wrong for Zimmerman to shoot him if he was not defending himself. We are supposed to have blind justice! The racial component here is not supposed to matter. We have a dead teenager. We have a dead American. We have somebody who shot him. We still don't know the details. All we have are a bunch of networks and race hustlers trying to create a stereotype out of this, going so far as the New York Times referring to Zimmerman as a "white Hispanic" just to create the template or the narrative or the whole stereotype, if you will. Race is being injected into this case to enrich the race-baiters, to sell newspapers and to try to enhance a television network audience.

  44. So they determined that there was "an error made in the production process." Yeah, right. It wasn't a "process" problem. It was edited..by a human. It was deliberate and intentionally and no doubtedly reviewed and approved by several layers of NBC editorial management because it made for a better narrative. It fanned the flames. NBC should be ashamed. What NBC did was equivalent to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. Keith
