  1. Guys, It's on the website at meangreensports. I mean, what else do you want them to do? Mailing costs more money these days than it used to cost. So, even mailing just MGC members or season ticket holders is talking a lot of cash out. Again, I think these things begin to take care of themselves once more attention is on the program for winning. I suppose they could phone. But, you always have people who are so jacked up about getting phone calls, no call lists, etc. It's not hard to get a no call list, as it's updated weekly...and it's free. But... You'd still have to have live bodies sitting around making the phone calls to the alumni base outside the MGC. That's volunteers if you don't have the money to pay someone to do it. Who are your volunteers? Students, MGC members? I think the athletic department is doing something good here. You get 75 people out. That's better than zero, which is what it was before these things. It'll build. I know we're hungry to win. To be like Texas and OU, who have the luxury of charging people to go to these things. To have UNT actually on the helmets. To have a lively and lengthy post-game show. But, these things take time. They will come now that we've got a good coaching staff in place. The stadium, the coaching staff, the caravan...it's all new and good. Don't be filled with a negative emotion. Try not to hate. Love your mate. Don't suffocate on your own hate. Designate your love as fate. A one world state as human freight. The number eight. A white black state. A gentle trait. The broken crate. A heavy weight. Or, just too late. Like pretty Kate has sex ornate. Now devastate. Appreciate. Depreciate. Fabricate. Emulate. The truth dilate. Special date. The animal we ate. Guilt debate. The edge serrate. A better rate. The youth irate. Deliberate. Fascinate. Deviate. Reinstate. Liberate to moderate. Recreate or detonate. Annihilate. Atomic fate. Mediate. Clear the slate. Activate. Now, radiate. A perfect state. Food on plate. Gravitate. The Earth's own weight. Designate your love as fate. At ninety-eight we all rotate....

  2. I'd be interested to see the true reaction of board members if 30,000 check wielding fans really did start showing up to every home game. Something tells me they'd find it threatening and would complain that it's ruining tradition.

  5. AGAIN.... all you guys upstairs with your tuxedos with tails, tophats, monacles, canes, and now secret handshakes... Just don't spill anything on us below!!! Remember, we are trying to pay attention to the game down there so have some respect while smoking money wrapped cigars and being fed grapes by the dance squad.

  7. How many did we have at last years Coaches Caravan? Or the year before? Or during the Bowl Years? Oh that's right...Zero. 75 seems to be a pretty nice improvement.

  8. I think they did a poor job promoting the event. Also, why have so many of these? Denton, Dallas, Ft. Worth only!

  12. LOL! Yeah, there never is! Amazing! Here's an outside the box suggestion. Invite EVERYONE, not just the Mean Green Club????????????? I would even have gone so far as invite the DFW Iowa State Alumni Association as well. There are a lot of them displace here who never get to get back home and you never know how many who truly loved DMac would be interested in season tickets. Rick

  18. Now that the spring semester is over with my countdown on google has begun for September 1, 2011. With the continuous off season talk on the message board regarding conference realignments, uniforms, etc., I think I'll try and change it up a little. I think we all grew somewhat tired of UNT's version of the spread relatively quickly. While effective at many collegiate schools, our potential with the spread was hindered by a gun shy O.C. for 3 years. I think we can all agree that began to change as Coach Chico turned us into a more versatile offense with new formations, motion, plays, and a new vision to take risks for higher reward. The running game also became much more productive. With a new coaching staff in place and even more allowance to Coach C to run the Offense, what play do you expect to see when the offense gets the ball for the first time in 2011? Here's my dream scenario to kick start the new season. We come out in the spread (5 wide) with a tightend as one slot receiver, a full back as the other, and our tailback as the outside receiver. At the quarterback's motion, we shift into the 'I' formation and go under center. From there we snap the ball with the left guard and tackle pulling. Left guard blows up the right end and the left tackle gets up on the mike linebacker making a hole so big the parting of the red sea turned out to be overrated. That to me would say "Its wide open and we're gonna run it up your arse." I just want to see a more physical team and I think Coach Mac seems to want that to. I think Derek is more than capable of being a good gun-slinging QB this year, but I'd like to see us play more hard-nosed football this season.

  20. i don't know exactly what the membership of mean greem club is , but RICK is right. it is too small of a target audience, and besides, you are preaching to the choir. we need to invite "all interested parties" to expand our fan base. a large number of longhorn fans never went to THE UNIVERSITY, yet support them as if they did. JOE GREENE by himself should be a good draw. we need to think outside the box.

  22. This is what I fear will cause the next defections of the top 60 or so teams from the rest. If a playoff ever gets instituted, I can see it being only AQ teams, thus scheduling against lower rung teams will be a thing of the past. The bigger thing I fear is the AQs leaving the NCAA to form their own coalition for all sports. TV networks would drool at this possibility if the biggest draws get their own football playoff, basketball tournament, college world series, etc...

  23. I will be in San Antonio for a conference that week....And even then I don't get make it to For Worth until about 6:30 every night as I work in Highland Village. Oh well, I hope the rest have good turn outs. I think I should have tried to make the Denton one, that was my mistake! I think if they were from 7-9 it would have been better, the metroplex is so spread out and alot of people commute to work.

  24. The 6 o'clock thing is a hassle to some. But, really, if it's 6 to 8, there is still time to drop by. I'm sure there will be more of us from Denton and Collin County (Frisco east to Allen, etc.) at the Plano event. This is a good event, but building enthusiasm for it doesn't come overnight. My relatives from Oklahoma note that the OU caravan that hits Dallas these days now costs $30 per adult and $15 per child. Before Stoops was hired and turned around the program, they were free. Give McCarney and his staff some time to build this thing into a winner. Winners draw. Plus, we haven't been doing this thing long enough for people to anticipate it every year. I'd say just be happy they are doing it now. The only thing they are doing wrong, currently, is the helmets - and, they may yet get that right as well.

  25. I think just inviting the Mean Green Club was not the best idea. I haven't been able to make any of these things because they are on weekdays at 6 pm and I commute from Fort Worth about an hour to work and get off after 5:30. As much as I would like to go to one, there is no chance for me to make one. What is the membership of the Mean Green Club? I just joined a few months ago, but I didn't think that there was over 1,000 members. So basically they are having multiple events for an target audience of less than 1,000 people? Perhaps the goal was to get MGC members a more intimate forum with the coaches and not have a huge turnout, which in that case I would say they have done a great job.

  26. Nothing in the Dallas area newspaper promoting this event? No TV coverage? Not even a 1 minute spot during the TV sports segment on the coaches and Mr. Greene? I see the problem as the AD relying on email blitzes only to get the message/ad out to the public. Do they have email addresses for all 90,000 DFW alumni? Doubt it. So, use the other media that's availiable.

  30. Nervous about tripping and injuring a future Olympic Bobsled medalist. Could my wearing the North Texas Battleflag in Vancouver (Whistler, actually) have been the inspiration for Johnny's bobsledding career? I'm gonna say yes. Man, were there a lot of confused folks at the ski jumping hill when I broke out that flag.

  43. If you listen to other schools' radio broadcasts, you'll note that they have post-game radio shows that go an hour or two. Coaches, players, former coaches, former players, local media-types, national media-types, etc. get in on the action. The current UNT post-game is what...30 minutes? Now that we have a real coach and stadium, can we have a real post-game? Sadly, we've got one of the best broadcast booths in the business. But, it's like they have to squeeze information down to fit it into this tiny post-game time slot. Is there no radio station that can pick it up some kind of extended post-game show? Post-game show. Radio. A longer one. Whew...I finally found something to complain about again!
