Did you project a string of injuries attributing to this? Hope you lose your passport.6 points

Geez, imagine if you did something crazy, like forego revenue for almost a decade, just to get into one of those leagues. Man, you’d feel pretty stupid and look pretty desperate. But who would do something that crazy?6 points

The disparity and the efforts made to recruit offensive linemen compared to defensive linemen is borderline scary. I know I keep beating the proverbial dead horse, but this shows where Morris's priorities lay, and they're not even close. I will push for Morris and hope he does well, but if, in the end, he does not survive as our head coach, there are not going to be a lot of questions about why this happened. One of Leach's bad traits that I wish Morris had not picked up was his lack of emphasis on defense or the belief that his offense would consistently score enough. Also, as I've said before, it's getting harder for me to dump on Caponi when it looks like he is not given the support he needs to recruit players.5 points

When a defense ranks near the bottom of the entire FBS, major changes needed to be made, both in players and coaches. It was a disaster from game one to the end of season. Not making a DC change or adding 3x the amount of defensive players just says history will repeat itself again...4 points

Two comments: 1 - What else would you expect him to say? 2 - When you have the worst D in FBS, you need transfers, not HS players that you will most likely spend 2 years developing before they make an impact or transfer. We need help now!3 points

At Fouts Field the years we won championships were listed on the bottom of the Press Box. I don't know why that was not done at Apogee/DATCU. I mentioned that to one of the AD's and he was indifferent. I suggested that we include that fact at the beginning of our video presentation before each game but again basic indifference. I would start the presentation with 25 Conference Championships, ___ All Americans (listing the numbers from the beginning no matter what year), perhaps ___ All Conference Selections, etc. I would at least try to show some historical success no matter how far back it goes.3 points

I have no evidence to support this claim, but I expect Blake Fann will make an impact and get some playing time.3 points

100%, the injury bug has cropped its ugly head. Look at any other team, even NBA, when you lose 2 starters, you aren't winning games against top of the conference. It's hard enough to win them full strength. To that point, if you look at the way we are still in games with these injuries, says a lot about our resilience and coaching. I believe in Boss Hodge.3 points

Jason Edwards scored 31. The rest of the team COMBINED scored 24. Kinda hard to blame a guy for not being a “closer” when he’s the one doing enough to make having a “closer” relevant3 points

I agree with @MeanGreen13 on this one. We have several young LBers on the team. I am optimistic they will get the best 3 on the field and be improved from last year. The defensive line scares the 💩out of me at the moment. I thought the needed to go out and add 2-3 285-310 Lb juco dl prior to Moore leaving. Now they are extremely low on numbers and size. We aimed for the stars right out of the gates. Going after 2 juco guys that went P5… then didn’t go after anymore. I felt like there was a handful of guys we could have got that would have been better than nothing. That is my biggest complaint at the moment. @Sanoe Valente and I are podcasting tonight and I will go into more details.3 points

1. We want additional DL, I wouldn't hate to see him say he's still looking for dogs or something like that. 2. 100% we need more help 3. While we are talking about it, here's our production returning rankings for the year. Total production 91 (54%) Total offense production 115 (42%) Total defense production 39 (66%)2 points

I got out my 2005 media guide and counted the conference championships. We have 25 if you count the Southland Conf. Championships.2 points

I did notice that and also wondered why we didn't just replace the rim. Also, I think it was the UAB game, but the color guy (former coach I think who never stopped talking, but I can't recall his name) mentioned that the rim on the student side of the court was a soft/forgiving rim. He's been around basketball and this was something he noticed and thought it was important enough to mention it during the game.2 points

Folks, whatever you have been wearing for these games, make a change. If you’ve been drinking Coke, time for Dr. Pepper, Coors Light? Time for Miller light, commando? Put on some drawers. Change it all up to change the juju.2 points

We have been right in every one of those loses….top teams in the conference. We win those games with a full roster. We belong in this conference.2 points

Bumping this thread as we're already just a week away from the SMU return game in Dallas. If I can help you get a group discount, let me know. We need as much green at Moody as possible.2 points

Well, three straight losses sucks. After tonight, we're tied with Memphis for sixth place in the conference at 5-4. If we can't get in the Top 4 and earn a double bye, seeds 6-7 would be next favorable for fan attendance. https://theamerican.org/tournaments/?id=294 The sixth seed would play the winner of 11/14 on a Thursday at 8pm, and the #3 seed on Friday at 8pm. The seventh seed would play the #10 seed on Thursday at 6pm and the #2 seed on Friday at 6pm. Also worth noting, after the 11-14 seeds play two games on Wednesday night on ESPN+, all remaining games are on linear ESPN between ESPN2 and ESPNU, leading up to the championship game on Sunday, March 17th at 2:15 p.m. on ESPN Main.2 points

Yet we keep offering offensive talent. I am going to be pissed if this defense isn't addressed along the line. I don't get it. It's not like they didn't know Moore wasn't coming back, yet we sign the WR from Allen. We need the help now for Spring ball. Might they move Vailea to back up Brown?2 points

This is the problem the Portal and NIL has created. Constant roster makeover. Players leave if they are not starters instead of working their way up the depth chart. It's the want-it-now society.2 points

https://meangreensports.com/news/2024/2/4/womens-tennis-womens-tennis-defeats-houston-earns-first-win-over-big-12-program-since-2016 The UNT women's tennis program did something it hasn't done since 2016 Sunday, knocking off Houston 4-3 to earn its first win over a Big 12 Conference opponent in nearly eight years. The Mean Green were not done there, however, as they swept Collin College 4-0 in the second match of the day to extend the win streak to four straight.1 point

Generating excitement for his current players and anticipating the arrival of more in the fall. All good stuff. I’m assuming they’re going to try and add some JUCO/TP guys soon. This will remind our HS guys that we still want them to develop and play for the Mean Green.1 point

Half of the ACC wants out of that conference to try and join the Big10 or SEC. If Florida State ever finds the key to escape then the ACC won't be what they are today.1 point

I wish they would update the music in the Super Pit. They've played the same 5-10 songs for the last 15 years. I know it has little to do with the attendance but this felt like a good place for my one complaint.1 point

I'm so proud of Coach Orr! I loved watching him play. I'm so happy for his success!1 point

Honestly, with all of the close losses it feels as thought we are snake bit. But considering the month long absence of R Jones, the 4-5 games stretch of Buggs being out and now Nolan. Not to mention Allen with the stitches— we have made the necessary adjustments to compete and played pretty well considering. Would I have liked a couple of more free throws made and a couple in the Win column— yes, no doubt. Nobody wants to face us now much less when we are at full strength and we are using some bench players to supplement (and get some minutes). I hope we can get some wins to get the bye in the tournament and then clean up as long as we are at full strength.1 point

I have never seen a UNT team so afraid to shoot. It's as if no one wants the ball. Stone comes particularly to my mind, but I also saw some others give up looks when they were wide open.1 point

Edwards has been PHENOMENAL. Not many teams are winning games in the American missing their 2nd and 3rd best offensive players. Especially with a roster as defensive-minded as ours. There was NOBODY else on the court for us last night that can create their own shot. Nobody. And yet Edwards kept us in the game. Buggs can hit open 3’s. So can Scott, who can also hit a runner when he isn’t being guarded. Once or twice a game, Allen can back his man down and get a bucket. Walker might be good for a putback or two. But only Edwards, Rubin and CJ can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. If you are missing two of those guys, it is not going to be good in the American. This season is still a fun ride. We can make noise in the conference tournament. And considering the staff/player turnover & injuries, a deep NIT or CBI run is still a successful season.1 point

Thanks. Well, we have a plethora of safeties as well. Of course a PWO is pretty risk free. I noticed TX St. picked up a transfer DL out of MI St. that I don't think we ever offered. We really needed that transfer out of Rice. Hopefully, someone, or a few someones, will show up soon.1 point

The kid from Allen is a PWO and they are moving him to safety. But I agree with your concern about DL1 point

SMU fan here. I am looking forward to the game in Denton next week. This will be my third time to the Super Pit, and second to see us play there. I think y’all are better than us because of your shooting, but I think we are more athletic. Our two biggest flaws are we have stretches where we can’t throw it in the ocean and we’re incredibly turnover prone. That said, Lanier has done a good job of creating a defensive culture, very similar to your team. Anyway, glad y’all are getting a group to come to Moody. It is a great place to see a game. All the best to y’all when you’re not playing us. Beat Charlotte tomorrow.1 point

Update #3: I will be requesting at least 5 more tickets tomorrow to get us to 30+. Section 113 behind the benches does not have seatbacks, only the other, non-TV side does. 113 will be plastic bleachers. I believe they will let us expand our group outside of the section if you don't want to spend $45 on a lower-level ticket. But beware: these seats are going for $70-100+ before fees on SeatGeek and StubHub. Group rates are $25 in the upper level sideline and $15 in the upper level baseline.1 point
