I don't get the feeling that Mac was intent on making a long term change, but was trying to send a not so subtle message by sending in the freshman to kick the chippy. However, when the short one was missed, it kind of backed Mac in a corner and he chose not to kick the rest of the game. To further prove his point, he made it known that the kicking job is open for competition earlier this week.

This type of action is not unique to, but a frequent trait of people in position of power such as a head coach. It's a tough spot. Some kids (people in general really) thrive on being challenged and some shrink away. Hopefully someone steps up. Would like for it to be Olen.

Very similar situation with the QB position. Unfortunately, DT seem pretty confident that he is bettert than his current crop of challengers and his sense of urgency for improvement has suffered. However, now that Berglund has been introduced to the mix, it will be interesting to see how DT responds. Lots of people want to be 'the man' when things are good, not so much when the heat is on. Time will tell for the kicker and the QB.

Kicking, Olen is not going anywhere. Mac said he was the man in the Thurs interview but that he would make changes if things did not get set right?
